Capizzi Home Improvement

We called Capizzi, in August, to give us an estimate on a project that would be tens of thousands of dollars. They sent Tony to meet my husband and he said he would email the estimate shortly. After a month or so of no email from Tony my husband called and Tony said he would get it to us immediately. We never heard from Tony again.

Had Capizzi remove two large sliding windows, and replace them with two fixed windows. There was substantial finish work inside and out, as I wanted them to reuse the custom finish pieces inside and match the shingling and window trim outside, all in cedar. The price was in the middle of the quotes. The lead carpenter was a craftsman. He and his associate worked diligently and cleanly. It is hard to believe the work is new; it looks original. Painting subcontractor was excellent. Kudos to all!

I had heard good things about Capizzi so I contracted with them to install a PAVILION over my patio. The plan was for them to arrange delivery of a kit, get the building permit, then assemble the kit.
We contracted on April 1^st for this and the due date was to have it completed for Memorial Day weekend as I had a cookout planned with 50+ guests.
1. The Pavillion Kit was ready for shipment on April 14^th, Capizzi was to schedule the delivery from Backyard and Beyond. Initially the delivery was supposed to be the week of May 11^th but Capizzi accepted a change to 18^th of May without letting me know of the change. They said that it would only take 3 – 4 days to install so they could still meet the Memorial Day due date.
2. The 18^th of May the kit arrived and the crew showed up that on the 19^th to find that the size of the Pavilion created some issues with the layout/​placement of the pavilion. They unpacked the Kit and left it scattered across the patio, driveway, and part of the yard, (see pictures, of killed grass and blocked driveway.) Capizzi Management came by to discuss the options for placement of the pavilion and we reached an agreement that it could be moved to overhang the grill with the footers on that side being under the deck. But to make sure there was enough head room for anyone on the deck the footings would be raised 6 inches above grade.
3. The holes for the footings were dug May 20^th, but the permit had not been approved so no inspection could be conducted. To dig the holes the deck was disassembled and the patio pavers were removed. Since there was no way for this project to be completed by memorial day weekend, it would have been my choice if informed that there was no signed off building permit, to wait until after the week end to dig these holes. As, I could have still had access to my grill and not put my guests in harm’s way trying to access my upper deck and walk around my patio. The permit was signed by the Falmouth Building department on Friday May 22^nd.
4. On May 26^th the building inspector came out and accepted the holes for the footings but could not sign the permit because it was not on site. Joan dropped the permit off on May the 27^th.
5. The concrete was poured into the footings on May 28^th, but without the additional 6 inches above grade that we had agreed upon.
6. I contacted Capizzi telling them I did not think that the footings were at the right height and was told it was too late to correct this. The building crew is on site and is erecting the pavilion now.
7. Tom Capizzi came by to discuss my project after I told them to stop work. We reached an agreement for a work around to add in the 6 inches for head room and he promised to complete the project n a timely manner.
8. The week before the 4^th of July the project was to a point where could use my lower deck and patio but the project is still not complete as of July 26^th. But Capizzi did come by with a new bill that included charges for the work around for the 6 inches of head room and the costs for not being able to build the pavilion in the originally planned location that was surveyed by Capizzi prior to the shipment of the pavilion kit. The new bill almost doubled the original project price.
A very unhappy client.

Capizzi Home Inprovement built our dream house in Wellfleet. I would recommend them to anyone! The building inspector in town commented that it was one of the best built homes. It was so easy to work with all of the staff. Communication was key for us. Our house is everything we wanted and the quality is top of the line. In the end we had punch list of three things and they were addressed and done in 48 hrs. Wow !! My friends that were also building, were so jealous !!

After a rough winter and damage from ice dams, we decided to hire Capizzi, because we thought they would do a good job. Tony came over and checked out the damage, but we never heard from him again. When we finally called back a month we got an apology and the «we’re very busy» line. It appears as if they don’t want to waste their time on a $ 5000 project. Too bad, because I want 3 bathrooms remodeled as well, but they won’t get the call. I’m surprised they’ve stayed in business all these years doing business this way. Thankfully, they’re not the only contractors on the Cape. Save time and go somewhere else.

I had a similar disappointing experience with Capizzi. Despite their reputation as «CaPricey» I decided to give them a chance to remodel our basement. At the time, they were running some sort of «Donald Trump» promotion offering to clean your gutters for free just for fining them a chance to bid on s job. They kept their appointment, but before accepting their contract I wanted to see if they would keep their word. They never honored their promise. I couldn’t believe they would lose business this way and called back to remind them they still hadn’t cleaned our gutters. The woman apologized and said she’d schedule someone to come out as soon as possible. Nobody ever came. Why would anyone trust a lying corrupt dishonest sleazy operation to perform any contract? If you can’t clean a gutter you think we’d trust you to do a $ 20,000 real estate improvement job??? What do you expect from a guy who gets his advice from some Donald trump school for the brainless. It’s actually kind of sad.

Looking for an estimate on a small home repair job, I contacted Capizzi. Things looked promising at first — they took my contact info, we set up an appointment, and they followed up with a letter confirming the appointment, with contact info and a photo of their staff member that I’d be meeting with.
The time for the appointment came and went with no word from Capizzi. I called them, they looked into it, and they realized they had a scheduling error, and asked if I could reschedule. We agreed on a new appointment time the following day with another associate.
The time for the second appointment came and went with no word from Capizzi. This time I decided not to call and inquire, but to put my time into finding another contractor.
A day later I received an apologetic phone call for «the mix-​up». Talking to the employee who called me, it quickly became apparent that while she was apologetic about the first missed appointment, she knew nothing about the second missed appointment.
Clearly it took quite a few failures in communication within their organization for Capizzi to miss two appointments, then not even be fully aware of what they were apologizing for.
I’ve wasted one weekend making a long round trip to meet with Capizzi, who never honored either of their two appointments. I would not trust them with my home, and would not recommend anyone else do so either.
