Tet is the most observed holiday within Vietnamese culture. It celebrates the Lunar New Year, the beginning of Spring, and a way to start fresh.

The Tet Festival of Southern California (Hoi Tet Sinh Vien) is recognized as the world’s largest Vietnamese New Year Festival. The festival attracts over 60,000 guests annually and caters hundreds of booths in a span of a three-​day weekend event. Visitors are immersed in a vibrant array of traditional foods, live entertainment, cultural displays, festive games, and spectacular firecrackers show celebrating the new year. Located in the heart of Orange County and a short drive from Los Angeles or San Diego, the Tet Festival is the best way to spend the Vietnamese New Year holiday weekend in SoCal.

History

Established in 1971.

For over thirty years, the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California (UVSA) has hosted the Tet Festival in appreciation of the Vietnamese culture and community.

The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California (UVSA) is a 501©3 nonprofit, non-​partisan, community-​based organization founded in 1982. UVSA consists of alumni, college students, and high school students from various Vietnamese Student Associations across

Southern California.

Over the past years, nearly $ 1,000,000 in festival proceeds have been awarded to non-​profit organizations in the community such as the Boy & Girl Scouts of America, the American Red Cross, Vietnamese language schools, and many more.

Business Owner

The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations (UVSA) has been the host of the Tet Festival for more than 30 years. The spirit and hard-​work from students and volunteers helps bring the festival to life. UVSA contributes thousands of volunteer hours to help youth build strong leadership skills, cultural awareness, and experiences. 50% of the profit from the festival is given back to the community.
