Travelodge Costa Mesa Newport Beach Hacienda

Don’t understand the good reviews on this place. I wish I could add pictures to show how terrible this place is. There’s dents in the walls, paint off color to the base color to cover up whatever blemish may be there. The paint on the bathroom door is all chipped. There is mold in the bathroom, the toilet only works when it wants to. The A/​C unit is falling apart and worst of all the staff was extremely rude and, unhelpful. Had reservations here for my family for 9 days, yet they claimed we couldn’t use the credit card here and had to pay out of pocket for the night and go back into the office the next day so a «manager» (which I believe means «someone who isn’t a complete idiot») can fix it for us. Over $ 100 for one night at this place? Absolute disgrace, do not waste your time staying at this shithole. I’d rate ⁰⁄₅ if possible.

Terrible stay at this location. People fighting at night, drug dealers selling dope outside our room, people smoking pot outside our room. The next day our window was open and screen removed when we came back from visiting my wife who had emergency surgery at Hoag Hospital. Tried explaining the issues to the manager at checkout. Instead of listening he stated I should have called the police if it was that bad. DON’T stay here it is not a safe place.

While our neighbor was eccentric to say the least the real mood of the room was really determined by the colony of ants in the bathroom and multiple bullet holes in the wall!

Good experiences at other Travellodges on last minute stays. Not this time, and unless you are desperate avoid this place.
Non-​smoking room = cigarette burns in the carpet and bedspread. People smoke right outside the non-​smoking rooms.
Walkways are dirty with litter, stains and butts. They must be pet friendly because the people’s dog downstairs keeps barking.
Neighborhood is sketchy, I can’t imagine the weekends around here.

i cant believe this business…1^st room… smelled of bug stray… i was insulted.2 room had no bathtub…3rm.tv dont work with remote… one non english speaking person. swapped out remote. that just turned on tv. then a non english speaking man. push n buttons. no justice.tell me 2call office… sad. them i got to spa… it dont work come bac 2 my room call front desk. says there is a button… buttoni said yes i tried dat b4 i called… oriental fellow came to turn same button i turned. duh…then says ill call maintenance person. .i sit in spa area. then he cum bac 2say maintenance. man busy now… then @ 9:30p…the manager with acent saying want 2 fix tv… told him i was trying 2 rest… this is how i was treated… we will see how it go tomorrow…

Everyone stay away from this place.
–Old disgusting hotel
–Rude staff/don’t give a fuck about anything
–Power outage for hours (no refunds or nothing special for the bullshit)
–SKETCHY PEOPLE IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE COMPLEX.
–Bloody sheets. When brought to their attention all they did was bring sheets that didn’t even fit the bed plus they had the worst attitude for THEIR mistake. (Had to change the sheets myself because the rude night lady just threw sheets at me with a shitty attitude)
–SPIDERS! If you’re scared of spiders this place isn’t for you. Found few different kinds of spiders on my bed and bathroom. Again they don’t give a fuck.
–Carpet is dirtier than skid row’s concrete.
–House keeping does not exist here. (Even if you tell the front desk and the house keeper yourself.) They simply won’t clean your room upon request.
–You can’t sleep because of all the ghetto crackheads that come here to party. (Due to the low rates. Pay a little more and go somewhere else. Trust me.)
–Rooms smells like shit.
–Breakfast is really crappy too. Even the location where they serve you looks like a homeless shelter. With bunch of homeless looking people munching away.
–Pool is full of drunk people.
–Parking looks sketchy too considering the fact a bunch of crackheads are watching you.
–They say «no smoking» but smoking goes on everywhere.
— Need something from the front desk? Don’t bother calling. They never answer so be ready to walk yourself down there at all hours.
This place is hell. Do not enter.

This place was plain dirty from the rooms to the breakfast area. The non-​smoking room smelled like an ashtray. The carpet was so dirty that when we walked on it with white socks they turned black. The little dining room was filthy and two cleaning ladies and the front desk manager walked in to grab items but never cleaned up. The place is way over priced for what you get. Oh yeah try to get your drains to flow and not backup. I would agree the worst hotel, with worst staff, I have stayed in over 20 years. Never again and have spread the word to all my friends and family.

If I could give no stars I would. Our feet were black on the bottom from walking on the carpet because of how filthy this place was. Then to top it off, my hair turned green from swimming in the pool. The manager told me «that’s a risk you take». Worst customer service. Worst hotel. Worst experience. Stay away from this place!

The Travellodge Hacienda was the worse experience I’ve ever had. The owner :“Michael «has the Sandpiper next door, he has young employees running the hotel and a obnoxious rude manager «Chris» who has no idea whats going on and so wrapped up with his title he forgot what the terminology of «Customer Service» is.
Due to family situations an a budget ended staying at the Sandpiper for 28 days, with the new penal code had to move out. Adrianna at Sandpiper was very helpful an arranged for me to move to the Travellodge, indefinitely an with the same rate. I checked in the Travellodge which was all good, but on the 3^rd day I went to pay the room an met Chris, he accused me of making up rates an turned extremely verbal with me when I attempted to explain that it was done thru the office at Sandpiper. He became so fired up even to the point of telling me he didn’t care about my «personal issue» or me spending the $ 3000 at Sandpiper, an no one had spoken to him nor added notes in the system. I never raised the issue of spending the money at either hotel, an was prepared to pay their rates.
At this time the front office had guests checking in an I asked if he could please assist them first an we could clear the matter up, he continued to accuse me. I once again requested to continue the conversation but not in front of a guest (Alan) wanting to know if they had rooms an the rate. I agreed to bring all the paperwork from the Sandpiper to verify my stay there so he could let me go. My issue was left to a young lady Janet to deal with, who also jumped between running both motels. Janet told him she didn’t know who I was an no idea where I got the rates from, but confirmed later an also apologized on behalf of Chris.
The next day I went to notify the office I was going to withdraw cash an be back to pay the room, my WELLS FARGO card had expired an the bank issued me with a temp card, but Chris refused to take the card without my name when I produced the expired card. On my return from the bank I was told the hotel was fully booked an they had no rooms for me, I checked out.
I agree with a previous review that the housekeeping staff keep lost an found items, with all the fuss an confusion I left a personal item behind an was also told that nothing came turned in an the previous guest may have taken it. The hotel is very sketchy with «woman of the night» and narcotics are sold throughout the day an night with guests using the homeless to run drops. I witnessed them running between both motels. To stop the shady dealings, the hotel staff and a resident geust volunteer as security. The rooms are outdated and maitenance attempts to patch up punched holes in the wall, the carpets extremely dirty from excessive smoking and the soot from the main road.
Surely there must be penal codes to stop cheap labor, charging excessive amounts and room conditions.
Contact has already been made with the BBB to further investigate this matter.

Pros:
— Awesome central location. We picked this place because it was midway between the OC Fair and Newport Beach. Über to the fair was $ 4 and $ 10 to get to the pier.
— The double rooms are really big, with a microwave and a fridge that was super high-​powered compared to most hotel fridges.
— Our room at least (can’t say the same for all these other reviews, which mildly terrify me) was impeccably clean. The bathroom and bed were spotless, and I get grossed out really easily.
— The shower was really nice, with a good shower head and nice water pressure.
— Cheap! Duh.
Cons:
— It was a little loud sometimes because of the layout of the hotel. We were on the second floor and it was quiet once we were in our room. Maybe request this when you book?
— The parking lot is so weirdly sketchy. Lock your car and don’t leave valuables in it, and just keep your wits about you like in any motel parking lot, and you’ll be fine. Just a little weird because it’s in a good area.

Shady hotel for sure. Drug deals happening in the parking lot, man harassed us while we tried to jacuzzi, and we weren’t surprised when we checked out in the morning that there were cops everywhere. I accidently left behind a very meaningful piece of clothing and it could have only been in the room. Housekeeping and management they claimed didn’t find anything. Still my bad for leaving it but definitely be warned! Its cheap but you get what you pay for. Never again.

This was my first time at any Travelodge location. Booked a room for around $ 100/​night. The room was spacious, with a small refrigerator, microwave, flat screen tv, and small dining area. I booked here because it was the closest hotel to a wedding we were going to at the Turnip Rose, and we wanted to walk to and from the wedding. I was glad it was so convenient, but I probably won’t book this Travelodge again unless it was very necessary.

The carpets were very dirty and sticky.
The floors were actually really disgusting. I made the mistake of walking barefoot on the carpet, and I happened to look at the bottom of my feet before we left, and they were almost black with dirt. I was very grossed out. We were in a smoking room, so I’m guessing that it was years and years of cigarette ash that has accumulated onto the carpet. This locations needs a serious deep clean. If you are looking at price rather than cleanliness, this place is A-​OK.

Not bad for the. price, less than 10 minutes from beach access. Very friendly desk service! Free breakfast includes cereal, bagels, juice, toast, pastries, oatmeal, fruit and coffee. Rooms are a bit outdated.

I booked this hotel off of Hotwire last minute because I missed my flight from John Wayne. I was a little afraid of what I got myself into with the reviews off of Unilocal but was pleasantly surprised.
I got here late around 9 and was supposed to get a 1 bed room but I had my brother with me so I was hoping the front desk would allow an upgrade. She said she would have to charge me $ 10 but in the end waived the fee and was extremely polite and nice. I really appreciated the customer service here.
We went up to the room expecting bad things but found a clean, spacious double bed room. This was great! We spent the night with a large Laventina’s pizza and a cheap bottle of wine to get through the night. The TV was working perfectly and surprisingly a large flatscreen with access to many channels.
I docked a star because the bathroom, though clean, needed some updates. The towels were also a little starchy. Other than that, I actually recommend this place if you are looking for a cheap stay! Its not a 5 star hotel, but it was clean and a place to sleep. We also got a small complimentary, continental breakfast the morning after, awesome! Wifi was also included!

I was so disappointed with this place.
We booked it for two night but stayed only one night.
The place is smoking, near each room there are ashtrays full of butts. I took a picture. You open the door and get a smoke right in your face.
The air conditioner is very loud. It was as if I was sleeping in the room with working vacuum cleaner. Sometimes it started to rattle. I have read in one of the reviews that the place is rather loud, but with working air-​conditioner you will not hear outside noise. Yes this is true.
The room does not have a window that could be opened to get fresh air, and you need to have an air-​conditioner on all the time or it becomes very hot.
Overall the room is rather dark, one window is draped with heavy drapes, which you can not open because of privacy. You will need to use electric lights all the time.
Carpet was so dirty that my feet became black, as if I was walking outside bare-​foot at least half an hour.

This place is a dump. I really doubt the postings that praise the dumpy motel are true at all. I highly recommend you find other hotels that a better value in the area. I’d rather sleep in my car than return there. Btw, a 1 Star rating is much too high.

I have stayed here when in town on business for a few days and was very pleased all around with the facilities and the staff. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable and had three pillows of differing thickness, which is a nice little detail. The WiFi signal was strong in my room but then again I was closer to the office. The room had a coffee maker, microwave, and mini-​fridge, all of which were clean and in good working order. It also had a flat screen TV but was disappointed in the very limited selection of channels and no channel guide in the room, hence –1 star (they didn’t advertise it, but had two channels of HBO albeit separated by 10 channels, so a little sketchy). The continental breakfast is very basic but what do you expect? The pool and Jacuzzi seemed to be regularly maintained and were used often but not by me since I don’t find lounging a few feet from a parking lot relaxing, especially when there is no food or drink allowed in the pool area.
Bottom line: this is a great, clean, updated motel if you need a home base for a few days while you’re in town, but remember that it’s a motel and not a destination.

–Rooms next to lobby can get a lot of traffic/​street noise… personally it didn’t bother me but I was too buzzed to notice ;o)
–Non-​smoking rooms are a joke because they still smell like smoke and there were cigarette butts in the ash trays directly outside my room.
–Bathroom door would not lock and shower curtain did not close… I felt exposed lol
The UGLY…
–Bum off the street swiped most of the continental breakfast… it was slim pickings after that :(
–The carpet in the room is pretty nasty AND the AC was leaking so the carpet surrounding the AC was wet… gross!
Reason I stayed was to be close to the restaurant and club and it was definitely within walking distance. A bunch of friends came back to my room after the club and we were that loud room people hate. There were no complaints! Overall, the price was decent, the staff was hella cool with me, and the hotel served its purpose.

This place is also AAA discounted. My party and I wanted a room here because we all knew that none of us would be able to drive after a night at Sutra. We went to Sutra for Dash Berlin… after 4 – 5 hours of partying and boozing… well I KOed so I dont really remember too much from the night.
ANYWHO…this hotel is the closest hotel to sutra… within .2 miles of a walking distance. We hung out at the hotel before and walked ourselves to sutra… VERY SHORT WALK! The hotel isnt that bad either. We thought it would be very disgusting and old… but it actually wasnt that bad!
For about $ 75…we got 2 queen beds, a microwave, refrigerator… and a flat screen TV! Parking is easy as well! This is not one of those places where you have to park far to get to your room. In addition, its FREE PARKING!
If your looking to party in Newport Beach… especially if your looking for a place to stay after SUTRA OC… this is def. the place!
