Plumbing by Edward

I have known Edward for over eight years. Not only is he a master plumber, he is very fair and reasonable in pricing. I would not hesitate to refer him to any family member or friend. It is difficult to find a plumber who you can trust to do the job right the first time. So far he has done work in my kitchen, bathroom and fixed a leak in the slab of the house. He also uses proceeds from his business to fund missionary work. I consider myself fortunate to have found this man.

Edward Hernandez was an honorable man. I am so blessed and honored to call him my Uncle Eddie. His legacy will move on for all the people that he helped. I am going to take care of his son because those were his dying wishes. Edward had a heart of gold and I guarantee that he is sorry no one ever got back to his customers. His business and his passion for the orphans in Vietnam was his life, and will continue. By the end of the year PLUMBING BY EDWARD business will be back and running for his son and to serve well to all the others that never got to meet Edward Hernandez. Such a man of GOD

So, like another reviewer, we recently called Edward to come out (we’ve been using him pretty regularly) and was told the bad news — Edward did pass away a few months ago. I can’t speak for the new company because I haven’t used them, but I’m a bit underwhelmed that they never called back after we left messages (and Edward would always return calls so quickly). My five stars are for Edward — he was an amazing person who definitely left his mark. My heart goes out to his family, especially his young son.

It’s time to get a new plumber. Edward sadly passed away. He was awesome. Fair and good. They now forward you to another big company. I had them out to replace ½ inch elbow and flex tube gas line for my BBQ. I knew was going to be simple. Needed it done for documentation prior to sale of home. This guy pulled out price book and was 4 times what I thought it was going to be. I just laughed and told him to leave. This was after him being 90 minutes late for appointment. Called Evans plumbing and tech came out and charged me only an hour service. I would recommend these guys now. Saved me 550 dollars for a job which I knew would be a hours work.

It seems to me that the ownership of the business has changed hands to a larger company, in which the phone calls get forwarded to.
I was searching around Unilocal for a trusty plumber for bathroom plumbing that needed to be reworked. When I called them, to make an appt, it felt like I was talking to a call center. They were very forthcoming about ownership that changed hands, which I appreciate.
They have a «call center structure» which schedules a first guy to come out to give you a quote based on a «pricing book» they use.
The price? Completely sky high prices. We’re talking about double, almost triple. I was quoted almost $ 2000. Almost choked when the written quote was handed to me, so afterwards I called a few more Unilocal plumbers and found other contractors.
In the end, I had all of the work done by another Unilocal plumber for less than $ 800 and get this — the work took about 5 hours. For them to quote me the equivalent of $ 300 – 400 per hour is completely absurd. Lawyers, many doctors, and ferrari mechanics don’t earn this much, hahaha.
I miss the good ‘olé fashion «owner-​operator» business model… feels like there are less and less these days.

I just called to have Edward do some additional plumbing work for me and got some bad news. Edward passed away several months ago. What a shock and what a loss. …so this must explain the recent Unilocal negative ratings about phone calls not be returned.
His genuine smile and commitment to excellent work and great client service is what I remember most about him. He will surely be missed.

Wow, I called this guy because he has an exemplary rating here on Unilocal.Well, I have called him twice and left a message requesting he call me back regarding a hairline crack in a pipe underneath my sink. It is a good thing it wasn’t an emergency because it’s been two days and no return call.

I would definitely call them again! I was afraid I might have a main line water leak at my house. Manuel calmly talked my son through testing the lines to determine that luckily, my leak was on the sprinkler line, not the house line. YAY! Easy do it yourself fix.
I’m so impressed that he helped me over the phone, no charge. I didn’t even have to go home to meet them. Some other plumbers wanted over $ 300 just to go out and let me know if there was a problem. (Manuel offered to do that for free too if it was necessary.)
It’s so nice to meet an honest business that cares about the customers.

This review is based on my husband’s satisfaction with Ed’s plumbing services as I was not home when Edward came to fix our toilet. We discovered that our new toilet was never installed correctly in the first place by the guy who renovated the house — it started leaking from the bottom onto the floor. Edward explained exactly what needed to be done, he was timely, professional, and fixed it in no time. He explained what he was doing and was honest and up front about pricing and the time it would take to fix the issue.

Discovered we had a slab leak yesterday and were really wondering what we were in for. Called these folks late in the afternoon and Manny was out in less than two hours. He was able to give us an estimate and he returned this morning to fix it. It involved some jack-​hammering in the living room (oh joy)…but the work was done so neatly it really wasn’t an issue. A few hours later it was done and we’re just waiting for the cement patch to dry before we flip the carpet and pad back over it and go on.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company based on this experience. They were excellent!

Edward is amazing! He has a fun personality and has some great stories about this charity work to share with you! I had him come out to install a new faucet, and he took his time to carefully do the job without rushing! He explained what he was doing and even showed me why he was doing it.
Edward is also a very honest man! My new faucet is a European brand, so it installs a little differently than the typical brands. He explained the areas of concern he had, and showed me exactly what to keep my eye on. If you every have any plumbing needs, CALL EDWARD! He is quick, friendly, skilled, flexible, and someone you can trust!

Recently had Edward and his assistant Chris come out to replace a leaky kitchen faucet and a leaky sink pipe. $ 150 to replace the kitchen faucet with one that I provided and $ 40 to replace the sink pipes. They were on-​time, took 3 hours for the job, friendly and clean. Not sure how much other plumbers charge, but I called two other companies and they were the only ones to respond. They did a great job!

I recently bought a very old house in Long Beach. I was pretty sure I had to replace all of the pipes, electrical… blah blah. It’s basically been the money pit. Edward was highly referred by a client of mine, that also bought a fixer upper and had to replace all of their pipes. They did all their homework and he turned out to be the best and the least expensive.
Edward just left, he said my plumbing is great and needed nothing. He fixed a few minor problems, charged me nothing and even hauled off a few really heavy boxes I filled with tree trimmings.

I found Ed through Unilocal,and gave him a call after reading the great reviews. I was not disappionted!
I needed a garbage disposal fixed, and my toilet flapper needed replacing.
I left a voicemail for Ed on a Thursday around 8 pm. Friday he gave me a call, and at 9am on Saturday he was at my house.
I never got a quote so I had my fingers crossed he wouldn’t charge me an arm and leg. I was pleased with the service and the price… very reasonable, and he did both projects in under 2 hours.
Friendly guy, and attentive to cleaning up his mess.

Wow… Edward was awesome! He just left our house. He fixed our problem for far less than what other plumbers had quoted us and in a timely manner. He was very nice, courteous, professional and most of all very clean. Some plumbers do a job and leave a mess for you to clean up but not Edward.
Since we had a ghetto plumbing job done by someone else, he was gracious enough not to laugh his butt off looking at our duct tape cracker jack mickey mouse situation.
We will only be calling Edward from now on.

Found him on Unilocal.Called him for garbage disposal issue. Arrived within 15 mins of call (he was down the street). Fixed in about 10 mins.
Heads up only takes check or cash. Not a knock. Really cool guy, highly recommended.

My husband and I found Edward on Unilocal and we were impressed by all the great feedback. So we called to have him come inspect some plumbing issues we were having. He was very flexible with our schedule and came over on the weekend.
Edward’s explanation of what needed to be done to our home was very thorough. A different plumber we had come over prior to purchasing the home told us he would have to knock down a wall to fix a leak. Edward offered a couple alternate options that didn’t include any kind of demolition. Plus, his price was very competitive in comparison.
Edward and his team worked tirelessly for 4 days from 8am-​8pm until the work was complete. They were very clean and professional during the entire process. He was very punctual, reliable, honest, and a great communicator. Edward has a true passion for the work he does and it shows. He doesn’t recommend doing things the wrong way because he wants things to be fixed properly.
On top of all that, he a has a big heart and devotes some of his proceeds to his charity ACT (Another Child Touched) which benefits needy children and families in Vietnam.
I would highly recommend Edward to anyone who has a small or a large plumbing issue.

Not only will you have the piece of mind knowing that you’re working with an expert with over 25 years of experience, you’ll also have the good karma of supporting Edward’s missionary work. Edward is a philanthropist of sorts, and invests his profits in his charity, Another Child Touched. It benefits needy children in Vietnam. That’s not to say you’ll be overcharged. In fact, he undercut anyone else I called by a decent margin.
My experience:
On Saturday night, something in my water heater (approximately 20 days out of it’s 6 year warranty) burst. About 20 gallons of water gushed out rapidly and flooded my office. On Sunday, I called a number of local plumbers to install a new water heater for me. Of the few who actually answered, their quotes were bloated due to the day of the week (lame). They offered to bring and install a new water heater at a flat rate. Although convenient, this would not give me the option to chose, and I would likely be upcharged substantially for the item.
Luckily, I got a hold of Edward.
Edward actually offered to go to Home Depot with me to make the water heater purchase. He then loaded it into his van and brought it to my house for me. This allowed me to pay the exact cost of the item, and choose the one I wanted. He also bid a flat rate to install the new water heater, and remove and haul away the old one. The total I spent between purchasing the item and paying for labor was substantially less than the other all-​inclusive bids I was given.
If you’re in the OC area, do yourself a favor and bookmark Edward as your plumbing resource. You might as well be prepared for the day that you need a plumber that you can trust!
