We specialize in locks changed and rekeyed as well as doors unlocked, locks keyed — alike, locks repaired and installed. Mailbox locks replaced.

Bob Kiewiet has owned and operated Newport Mesa Lock & Key for the past 30 years. He is very familiar with all the neighborhoods and types of locks that builders installed. He is licensed by the Department of Consumer Affairs (State License #LCO 143).. He won the Angie’s List Super Service Award for 2011 and 2012, which is a great honor! Bob is now taking a well deserved semi-​retirement and working most days 9am to 3pm, but not available every day.

I have used them to change the locks on my business twice. He is very friendly and very professional. He came out right away and changed the locks during our business hours without interfering with anything. Bob from Newport Mesa Lock & Key is great. He was the most responsive person I called — and he actually answered his phone! He showed up about an hour after the call, just when he said he would and was friendly, knowledgeable, had good advice and all of the tools and parts necessary to repair our old locks. He helped us understand why our locks couldn’t be replaced without replacing the whole door because of the way they were originally designed and installed. He repaired them and rekeyed them and the keys actually worked — unlike keys we’ve had made in the past that didn’t work! We would highly recommend him any time!

Bob was professional from the very beginning when I called him on the phone. He showed up on time and worked diligently and quietly the whole time. He was even patient with my toddler running around and trying to get into his toolbox! Bob walked me through the process and explained how he did things and what the costs would be. I had originally thought there was just going to be four locks to change, but he found a fifth on one the sliding glass door in the back. His prices seemed reasonable for the work he performed and the quality he provided. I would definitely recommend Bob to other people and hire him again in the future.

We just bought a house in Costa Mesa and needed the locks rekeyed because there were so many of our keys floating around. We found Newport Mesa Lock &Key on Unilocal and liked the idea of a long time established locksmith familiar with the local area for such sensitive work. The owner, Bob Kiewiet, was very professional and pleasant on the phone and could come out right away. He was on time and knew exactly what needed to be done. He finished the job efficiently including lubricating the locks and making adjustments to make sure they worked smoothly. Also the locks operated on three separate keys before and now they work on one key. We more than got our monies worth and have since had Bob go to my mother’s house in Newport Beach and repair some long standing problems with her locks. Again, he did a quality job for a reasonable price. This is outstanding service; look no further.
