Established in 1959.

Custom Eyes Optometry has been a leading provider of optometry services and vision care products in the Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and the surrounding communities since 1959, and we want to help you achieve and maintain clear vision for years to come. Dr. Bourgoin acquired his practice in 2002. The practice was moved in 2007 to it’s current location in the Costa Mesa Courtyards.

The doctors at Custom Eyes Optometry are Dr. Michael Bourgoin and Dr. Jean Yoo, a husband and wife team of optometrists trained at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. They along with the staff provide a full service of expert optometric care.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Dr. Michael Bourgoin was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Rochester, N.Y. He enrolled in college at SUNY at Potsdam and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences. He ventured to Berkeley, California, to the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his doctorate degree in optometry in 1992 with honors. Dr. Bourgoin has a wide range of experience in optometry prior to acquiring his practice in 2002.

Dr. Jean Yoo, who is married to Dr. Bourgoin, joined their practice in 2003 after practicing for ten years in Orange County. Dr. Yoo was born in Seoul, Korea, and grew up in West Los Angeles. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her degree in Biological Sciences. Dr. Yoo received her doctorate degree in optometry from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1993. She practices optometry part time at the practice, and works full time caring for their three sons.
