Shanell is amazing! She really listened to what I wanted to have done and did an amazing job! It was exactly what I wanted! I got highlights and lowlights. She worked around the tape-​in extensions that I got at my previous salon, and she made them look more natural and fixed the color of the extensions and my hair so it all blends is very beautifully.
Vicky in the front office is amazing, she answered all of my questions and made me feel welcome when I walked in to ask questions about the difference between Aveda and other lines. I then booked the appointment after speaking to her and am very glad I did!
During my appointment I was greeted and assisted by a very vice receptionist who made me very comfortable during my first visit with Shanell.
Keep up the great work ladies!

I have been going to Richard Michael for about 5 years now and obviously I would not go any place else. Katelyn is so sweet and really knows how to make someone feel welcomed. As a hairstylist, she really wants to you feel happy about your hair and self and she always does! Everyone in the salon is so welcoming and generous to you. Highly recommended!

I am a very particular person and I’m not easily impressed, yet I really couldn’t give a more positive review for Kelsey who has done my hair every month for many years. She’s cute, she’s fun, she’s professional and she’s talented. I absolutely trust her with my hair, often letting her do whatever she’s in the mood for. Especially if you have long hair… Kelsey is your Girl.

I’ve been looking for a good stylist since I moved out to OC, and I’ve FINALLY found one! I cannot rave enough about Jordan. He gave me exactly what I wanted & really knows his stuff. The salon is trendy and everyone is super friendly.

Have been dealing with this salon and personally Richard for some time. Never ceases to amaze me the experience provided! Always a great time and am super happy with their services. Definitely a top notch salon with the best possible service.

I don’t want to give even 1 star. please don’t ever go for an appointment with Taira. until you are their in the salon she will keep saying your appointment is confirmed, but once u have arrived, they will cancel the appointment and the salon doesn’t care to provide the service with the substitute. horrible place.Beware

I have been going to Kelsey for a couple of years because of her stellar reviews, coupled with the fact that I love the smell of Aveda products. On a personal note, Kelsey is the coolest and kindest lady you could know. As a hairstylist, she is beyond patient and understanding — two things that are oft missing from the world of hair and beauty.
I have been pretty boring and only getting subtle cuts and trims, and I have never colored my hair. (I am naturally a dark brunette.) Well, after seeing some photos of brunettes with pretty highlights I was ready to trust Kelsey.
She and I talked for 10 minutes about what I was going for, and 2 hours later I was a more modern, summery version of myself! I am in LOVE with my color. Just like my haircuts and nail polish choices, I am conservative when it comes to change, and Kelsey perfectly executed what I was going for.
The salon is pretty no-​frills, but it is clean and smells like nirvana. :)

I was looking forward to an Aveda experience outside the Aveda salon from which I work out of as a stylist. I live in a smaller town, but think our salon is great (minus some needed updates). I decided to give the Richard Michael Salon a try. Pictures looked great, good reviews, awesome location, and very upscale service pricing. ‘This must be amazing’, I thought. ‘How could it be bad, especially with these prices’. Well, it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t worth the money. Lets just say I was happy I had $ 20 off. I went in for a shampoo blow dry.
However,
If I am the manager/​owner of this salon I would do everything in my power to make it what it should be. As an Aveda salon and with these prices the service (especially one as simple as a sh/​style) needs to be out of this world extraordinary. Complementary scalp neck and shoulder massage with Aveda an composition oil is step one. Step two is an amazing shampoo with just as good of a conditioning. Concluding with step three, a hot towel soaked in water and stress-​fix oil for my head to let the conditioner soak in.
Stylists should take pride in their work as detail oriented people pleasers, who strive for excellence. Even though I could tell by the smells of the products being used I wasn’t able to see (because I was turned away from the mirror (why??)) nor was I told. Stylists: educate your guests; up your product commission. I asked for straight hair. Not a lousy blow out. Are these girls fresh out of beauty school or have they been treated to Aveda education classes?

Everyone at this location is always so polite and accommodating and Shannell is just the best. She always remembers how I like my hair styled and pays attention to little details, and she’ll spend some extra time to make sure it’s cut and styled just how I like.
So glad to have found my go-​to stylist in Costa Mesa!

I can’t recommend Leila enough. I’ve been going to Leila for gel nails for over 2 years now. I bounced around at about 4 different salons. They were never perfect. Leila takes pride in her work and is consistently awesome! They’re thin but strong and last for sometimes more than 4 weeks but I go in because of the growth. I take in pictures from Pinterest and she puts her own creative spin on it. As an added bonus, she’s one of the sweetest, most genuine people I’ve ever met!

Got my hair done by Shannel and it was amazing! Best haircut of my life, changed my whole look and I will not go anywhere else.

Always scary to change your look, but Richard knows his stuff and has a great eye. I trusted him to do what he wanted and have never been more pleased. Great cut and style, but even more surprised by the gorgeous color he mixed just for me. He is truly an artist! Who would have known that the color would have been so perfect! He has a huge personality, so if this is your first time, just go with it and don’t try to argue with him — you will be pleased by the results.

Came here because of the amazing compliments, and because of the genuine comments and information given to me by the receptionist, Jillian.
I was surprised to see just how friendly and personable the staff was, compared to most other salons I have visited in the past. Like I said, Jillian was very helpful and especially honest when it came time to answer questions about services and prices, and also gave me recommendations for what to do, and how to fix what I had going on, prior to AVEDA.
Booked an appointment with Shanell, after having a horrible experience at another salon. She is the best! She is gentle and super kind, always making sure that you are 150% happy with what she has done.
Shanell corrected a BAD Brazilian blowout with a new, FRESH, gorgeous one. After that service, I came back for a cut AND all over color job done by SHANELL… yet AGAIN! She is amazing at what she does and I have always left the salon with a smile on my face.
I will never leave this salon, and will recommend Shanell to anyone and everyone that needs a stylist! Services add up, but you get what you pay for AND MORE; I will never pick a cheaper option when given the choice. They are TOO good at what they do here!

I go to Shanell for my cuts and color and she is phenomenal. She makes me look like a Victorias Secret Model EVERYTIME. Gorgeous and Natural.

I have been coming to this salon for years with my mom and every time, my services have been met well above my expectations. I get my hair done by both Richard and Shanell, but I would recommend every stylist in this salon.
I am confused when I read negative reviews because of how kind all of the employees are and how skilled the stylists are. This is honestly the best salon I have ever been to.
I have had had weaves and have had many different hair colors since I have come to this salon. Each time I have received compliments and have been ecstatic with the results.

Kelsey is so good at what she does! She never let’s you leave un-​happy. Even if it means staying extra past your appointment time. She also put up with hair that I haven’t cut in over a year. Such a professional every time. I just had headshots done for work and they came out great! Thanks Kels!

I recently moved to California and was in need of a much needed change. I’m very particular about my hair and was SO pleased with my results from Aveda. Burnadett is an amazing stylist and I really enjoyed my haircutting experience with her.
Coming in, I had really long hair, filled with split ends and no volume. I left with a new fresh look, with shorter hair and more volume. I’ve gotten so many compliments so far and highly recommend getting your next haircut with Burnadett! I’m definitely coming back!

I’ve been coming to this salon for the past 3 years… and that’s after going from cheap salon to expensive salon & back & forth forever before. I had never gone back to the same hair stylist before coming here. And I’m glad to say that I have finally found the best salon around that I can keep coming back to!
I’ve seen Allie a couple times now & she’s great! She cut my hair exactly as I wanted it… didn’t even need to say much, and she did it just right! I had seen one other girl before her here, but she moved out of state. So I’m just glad that both girls who’ve cut my hair have been just as awesome!
The whole experience is great… you get tea if you want… a little massage & the best hair stylists! I’m confident to say that every one here are all great & very well experienced in what they do. So if for any reason Allie isn’t here anymore, there will always be someone just as great to cut my hair:)

When it comes to hair I am your typical gal that is loyal until you do me wrong! I have been a client of Sean S. for a few years now and this guy is awesome, so great I followed him from Seal Beach to Costa Mesa to this salon! I highly recommend Sean if you’re seeking a stylist at this Aveda Salon. Sean is an expert when is comes to color, he is up-​to-​date with all the latest techniques and fashionable hair. He actually listens to his clients and collaborates to execute a great finished product. Sean also styles my daughter’s hair, she has very long locks and he is magical at adding layers while maintaining her overall length.
This particular spot is no frills yet all the skills one expects from a top-​notch salon. Parking is free and plentiful. Located directly across the street from South Coast Plaza off of Bear St, what more can this lady ask for other than book me on a Saturday please! Who doesn’t love shopping after a fabulous cut, color and style.
The temperature can get a bit chilly at times so be sure to layer up. Complimentary coffee, tea and tasty snacks to enjoy. It’s an Aveda salon so expect when you walk thru the doors to indulge your senses in amazzzzing Aveda scents! Fully stocked with Aveda products to accommodate your hair and cosmetics needs.
