Molli from Alexander Gray went above and beyond for me in finding the frames that were impossible to locate. She was in constant contact with me throughout the entire process and I applaud her for her excellent customer service. I wish everyone took pride in their job as much as she did. Thank you Molli!!!

My particular frames had a defect that became apparent after wearing them for awhile. Dave had sold several other of the same frames with no problem so he negotiated with the manufacturer to replace them at no charge. The new frames arrived and all is well! Very unusual customer service– highly recommend Alexander Gray.

David is the man! Knows everything about the industry. I stopped in before my trip to Japan and was looking for some eyeglasses ASAP. He helped me discover Ahlem Manai-​Platt, a designer in LA, but originally from Paris. I bought the frames on the spot, but was in a bind to get them with the proper prescription. David took the extra effort to make it happen by driving the frames to me all the way in Venice before my flight! This place has fresh frames from up and coming designers and an attentive staff.

my shopping experience at Alexander Gray has be a 10! the owner, David Gonzales, has a stunning selection of cutting edge, fashion forward, unique frames you can not find anywhere else. the selection is so fantastic you could easily leave with 4 pairs of glasses/​sunglasses! I have received the highest level of customer service and expertise in selecting a pair of frames for a friend who lives out of state, including an exchange, which was seamless! this is THE ONLY place you should shop for stylish eyewear and to receive superior customer service and prowess in selecting the perfect frame for your face.

My husband decided to purchase a pair of Salt frames for his glasses. Finding a place that carries Salt is pretty difficult but Alexander Grey at SoCo was one of the few so we headed over. We were tended to by Christine, who was working the shop and she was helpful, setting out styles and providing guidance. Husband ultimately decided to purchase Salt frames, handed over his prescription, and made some selections about the lenses. He later received a call/​email from David Gonzales, the manager, pushing him to buy thinner lenses. This exchange went on and on. David kept insisting that my husband should pay more and select more expensive, thinner lenses. My husband didn’t want to and David almost wouldn’t submit the lenses for production. It was kind of ridiculous. I’m a lifelong glasses wearer and I’ve never had an optometrist or a tech anyplace I’ve been hassle me about the thickness of lens I wanted. It’s always, always been an option. He let us pick the lenses we wanted but made it clear he thought we were making a mistake. David may legitimately think that thinner lenses are the way to go and are better for eyesight but he was so pushy that it marred the shopping experience entirely.

David at Alexander Gray hooked me up with THE BEST LENSES for my first pair of progressive lenses. I got the SALT frames which are rocking; but more than anything, David’s attention to detail with what i needed in the optic quality was SPOT ON.
I totally recommend them. I went with the digitally ground lense and am thrilled with the clarity.
The frames are really awesome and out of my comfort zone in style… but David really helped me think outside the box on the frames. I got the «Stella» by SALT and already 30 people love them in less than 9 hrs of wearing them!

Customer Service is the name of the game with David, the owner of this optical boutique in one of my favorite places, The OC Mix. I never thought I would spend this amount of money on sunglasses, but his knowledge of the industry and the customized service you receive is second to none.
I purchased a pricey pair of sunglasses with nosepads put in after about 9 months, one of the pads fell off. Although I no longer live in the area, he was gracious to accommodate my schedule when I was in the area to quickly have them replaced in a few short hours at the lab. Thank you!
I also purchased a watch from David and after many rounds with the original defective watch from the manufacturer I received a replacement. David was integral in the communication with them and always kept me in the loop of the status of my repairs.
Thanks to David, I am forever a faithful and loyal customer and would highly recommend him for your optical needs.

The people at the store are very pleasant. But their charm dims if you want to make a return. Oh they’ll let you exchange something, but no returns.
The problem is they don’t tell you. They also don’t provide you with a receipt unless you ask and then they email it to you.
So they don’t have a single sign saying no returns, they don’t tell you when they make the sale and when you finally get the receipt not only does it also not state there are no returns, but it doesn’t even say I purchased glasses — which I needed to use my health spending acct.
Good customer service includes returns when the product is in original condition and brought back in a timely manner.
I will never shop here again.

I loved my sunglasses that I bought from Alexander Gray. Unfortunately, if you have a problem with a purchase, it is extremely difficult to get a resolution. My frames broke, and they insisted that I dropped them (I did not — I only had them a month or two when I noticed). They could have been dropped previously at the store or in route to the store and the frames were compromised, so that when I put them on the counter or some other surface, they broke. In any event, I have no idea what happened except that they broke.
The store said they’d have to send my glasses back to Ray Ban to be repaired or to even see if Ray Ban would fix them without charging me. I was fine with it, since they were pretty expensive to begin with. That was about three months ago, and I haven’t heard anything since. I’ve had to consistently follow up with them, and last time we spoke, they said they can’t even contact RayBan to get the status or to figure out where my glasses are. They are in a black hole.
Meanwhile, since it has been so long, and I have no idea if i’ll ever even see those glasses again, i now need to buy replacement glasses. They offered me a discount if i bought new glasses from them again. Um, no thanks.
I said I was going to go to Sunglass Hut, where they’ll just replace them for me if something happens. Their response? Yes, Sunglass Hut can do that because they are bigger and have more connections.
Hmmm. Sad that I was trying to support a small business, but it makes no sense. Oh well.

No other shop can give you better.
I love the honesty that is paired with the staff’s eyewear knowledge. None of the folks would let you walk out wearing anything less than fabulous. But I should add that every pair is, indeed, fabulous.
This shop seriously cares that you leave with a frame that suits your face and personality. When I walked in, I had no idea what pair was right for me. Am I an Aviator or a Cat-​Eye? Luckily, David was able to look at my face and pick the perfect pair in one shot.
I wouldn’t send you anywhere else.

I went shopping here during the Holiday Hoopla for Ryan’s CYME. I know it’s probably the wrong season to be buying sunglasses, but I do live in Southern California. I walked in with my friends who were attending the Unilocal event with me and we spent a solid amount of time in here.
Christine La provided us with amazing customer service. She gave us honest opinions and helped me pick out a pair of shades that were well suited for my face. She also gave me her business card and told me to call her personally if I ever needed any assistance in getting another pair.
I gladly walked out with a new pair of Paul Frank shades and she gave me a complimentary cleaning cloth. I like the fact that they have more boutique brands so the styles were slightly different from what you would see at the mall.

I didn’t purchase anything while I was here, but that wasn’t due to a lack of selection or help on the part of the staff, who went out of their way to make sure that the customers were very happy and very well supported in their decision whether or not to purchase hundred dollar sunglasses.
The selection seemed significant, with numerous brands and styles available openly with more available hidden in nooks and crannies and hidden drawers throughout the small store. The staff, however, is what made this a four star review. A sunglass store can easily have good selection and without staff assistance be only mediocre, conversely a store with limited selection and good staff support can be fantastic. This store had the advantage of knowledgeable and patient staff willing to work with numerous people, giving honest advice regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the sunglasses, and trying to make certain that the shoppers were happy with their experience. Two friends of mine purchased sunglasses and both stated they were pleased with their purchase.

I bought my first big girl sunglasses. It’s a milestone. Lucky me, they were half off, which still makes these handmade in Japan beauties cost as much as all the sunglasses I’ve ever owned, all at once.
But I earned it right? I’ve had one pair of sunglasses for a year. That means I’m responsible enough to own a pair and not leave them in a restaurant, right?
Enough about me. This store has an expertly selected selection of sunglasses. Edgy, classy, fun, nothing too stiff, unless you mean that ironically… It took about a year to commit, but Christine finally sold me on a pair. She has a way of putting you into glasses that even if you can muster the ability to walk out without buying, you won’t forget that you can’t pick out glasses for yourself as good as she can for you.
They also have a fabulous selection of frames for regular glasses. I don’t even need regular glasses, but I definitely have my eyes on a pair for computer use…
