Decent board game store. I am not big into comics or collectibles, so loss of stars there. Seems a little messy with all the different items they have on display. Often hard to see what they actually do have, but that’s pretty typical of a store like this. Staff was not overly friendly. They were more concerned with things behind the counter than engaging with customers. I do appreciate they have sleeves in stock as you can’t seem to get very many different sizes at a typical store anymore.

More of a mess than a cavalcade. I was able to find a rare comic book in which the hero battles the Book Worm, but other than that, it’s one of those«go there once» places. The service is OK; it’s family-run. The collectibles, comic books, are randomly dumped around like an episode of Hoarders. The place is messy&dusty. Matt’s is in a questionable neighborhood, surrounded by shabby, shady businesses. There’s plenty of street parking, but one doesn’t feel safe. The place could use some serious cleaning&renovation. It looks like the 1993 quake hit it&that it never recovered. The service is meh, sometimes friendly, sometimes not. This place looks like it’s been through the Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse, when it needs a Dawn of Justice.

Very reasonably priced, found some deck boxes that I wanted for $ 2 less than at Top deck. Very down to earth, when I went here, there was a friendly cat and a baby. Didn’t mind the«mess» too much. One of the best collections of Doctor Who items that I have seen so far in a shop.

It’s an okay place if you can get past the clutter. The employees do not always give 100% to each customer. It’s hot or miss here.

One word to describe this place«dump». I was visiting Corvallis to see my wife’s family for Thanksgiving and decided to seek out the local comic book shop to get my fix. The selction in Corvallis is slim and sadly enough this is the only hole in the wall available. Don’t let the reviews fool you. This is a dumping ground for random junk. There are no hidden treasures to be found in this place. Wall to wall crap piled everywhere. Reminded me of a hoarders house but worse. I entered the overcrowded store to be greeted by a nice female sorting magic cards. Once I got past that mess I was given the option to head down one of two overpacked walks ways. So i decided to go left, mistake number one. At this point I should have just turned around and walked out of the store. I was approuched by a gentleman and was asked if I needed help. I asked him where the store kept its better books/older books. He responded by telling me he has 400k books and everything was a better/older book. That was the moment I knew this place was a sh@thole full of garbage. I’ve been to many shops throughout the united states and all good shops keep better books away from local’s who like to five finger discount the good stuff or bend them to hell and back. I tried to not be judgemental and started looking through some of the boxes. The first box I went through I found a beat up copy of the new 52 Batman #2. After seeing me pick the book out of the box he asked me to stop looking through that box and any books i picked out would be priced at the counter WTF. Who prices books at the counter, this dump of a store does. At this point I was reasured that this shop was a personal playing ground for a store owner who had no clue how to run a business. I put the book down knowing he was going to try to screw me over thinking I was some idiot that had no clue about pricing. I made another attempt to look through the back issues only to find boxes full of worthless junk from the 90’s covered with toys, stuffed animals, and other boxes the store owner asked me not to move. How are you suppose to look through back issues if you have crap pilled on it. I then turned to the new issue shelf to find it also overpacked with every new issue from the last six months. I tried to sort through it but found most of the books had been beat to hell and back and the only books worth buying were overpriced. The overall exp was horrible and I would recommend that no one ever waste time going to this hole in the wall. They have a horrible new issue setup, garbage for back issues, rude customer service, and so much worthless junk piled on the back issues that you can’t even look through them. If you could all the good stuff has been vultured for their ebay store. Word of advice when running a store, don’t talk about selling on ebay in front of other customer. Its a red flag that you don’t have crap in your store and what is left is junk no one wants. I will make an attempt to edit this at some point but I’m to tired to mess with it atm. Has some great stuff and always very helpful. The only problem is that it is probably the most disorganized comic store that I have ever been in. I would shop there again but wish they would organize better.

Matt’s is a fantastic store, and a pillar of the local comic and gaming scene for at least a couple decades now. The store is the epitome of what comic shops always were and are supposed to be — too much awesome stuff under one roof! What other stores spend on pointless frills(causing them to fold up and fade away after only a few years in business, Matt’s spends on keeping new and old/classic products in stock. The staff is friendly and helpful, and if you can’t find something, they’re always willing and able to look — both in their store, their warehouse, and barring that, they keep a note and search for it, both online and when buying folks’ collections. Truly, a great establishment that goes the extra mile for it’s customers!

I’ve been here twice. On the first visit I was looking for a board game. I went in with my kids and was duly ignored. After about 10 minutes I asked for a recommendation and was met with much chagrin. We wound up buying a game that was recommended to us that, perhaps, wasn’t so stellar. Fast forward six months and we return. Similar situation, we were ignored for ten plus minutes while a pile of cash was burning a hole in my pocket. Two employees, both 10 feet away, never acknowledged my prescence. Never asked what I was looking for. Never said or did anything. I was willing to drop good coin on a game but I’d like some basic level of customer service. We left without buying anything even though I wanted a new game. Bad service is typical in these comic shops; «Matt’s» really ups the ante though. I’ll go to Pegasus around the corner or visit Ye Olde Shoppe in the future. You gotta shell out a premium for games at local places, and I have no problem supporting them when their service is half-decent. Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons has better customer service than Matt’s. I haven’t even mentioned the lack of organization, the filth, horrendous parking, the high prices, etc. Matt’s is a disaster and is the epitome of what’s wrong with gaming culture. One star.

Clearly«Organized» by someone with their own filing«system»… still there are a lot of great finds in all of it. Lots to look through.

Honestly it looks like a candidate for Hoarders on A&E, but there is some neat stuff inside. If you can find it. Ever. If Dewey Decimal had schizophrenia, libraries would look like this place. Know what you want going in, and ask Frink’s doppelgänger behind the counter. Looking would take too long.
