History

Established in 2008.

Athena Bodywork was first established by Shiloh Thomas in Ithaca, New York in 2008 as a part-​time practice. In 2015, Shiloh made the big move to the West Coast to open her practice full-​time. Already having social connections to the area, she was drawn here by the thriving small business community and genuine need for good bodywork practitioners.

Hello! I’m Shiloh Thomas, LMT, the proprietor of Athena Bodywork.

I decided to study to become a massage therapist in 2008 because I wanted to devote my work life to helping people in my community achieve wellness and comfort in their bodies. I personally have found that one of the most effective ways of doing this is by receiving massage and bodywork treatments.

My practice is based around the philosophy that the body is best able to heal and care for itself when it is in a relaxed and calm state. Therefore my massage sessions focus on relieving any ongoing muscle-​tension and pain to relax the physical body, while creating a serene atmosphere to calm my clients’ minds.

I ground my massage in traditional Swedish massage techniques, and work closely with every client to understand their needs and plan a treatment session that they will love.
