History

Established in 2007.

Fifty 5 degrees of Steamboat was born out of a passion for acquiring fine wines and consuming them at their apogee. In 1997 I began to enjoy fine wines and not long after that started to collect wines to consume at a later time. I soon realized that having a variety of wines available to drink to compliment the people I was with, celebrating a special occasion, or meal, was a lot of fun. Before long I was bitten by the bug and my collection has grown steadily since. Faced with the dilemma where to store all these wines I began investigating proper storage techniques and how long you should age a particular wine before you consume it. After 10 years my wine refrigerator and the crawl space at my home began reaching there capacity and the idea of a wine storage facility not only to accommodate my needs and the needs of other wine collectors was born. Acting quickly in early 2007 the plan started to gel and the facility began to be built that summer and has slowly taken shape as an ideal

Business Owner

I graduated college with a bachelor of science in business management in 1976. I entered the Audio video industry and have been actively been involved ever since. From 1985 to early 2014 I owned my own business. Yampa Valley Sound Co. I became interested in wine in the mid 90’s and started collecting fine wine in 1997. Having the entrepreneurial spirit I solved a personal need and turned into a business opportunity.
