Twister’s Shakes & Sundaes

Poor customer service at Gibbs location. My parents and i dropped by to get an ice cream cone each. we walked in and my dad ordered 3 cones. The lady made one cone came back and handed it to my dad and said here is the first of 6 cones… my dad said huh? he only ordered 3. the lady said no you order 6 in a rude tone. my dad said if he did he only meant 3. The lady said no you ordered 3 for sure. my dad said well i need 3 only. The lady had an attitude the whole time and had a look like she was very annoyed and gave dad my change and came back and handed me and my dad the cones (almost thrown at us) and then didn’t say a word and just walked off. I asked for a manager and she smiled and said «i ammm the manager. asked her what her name was so i could contact owner. contacted owner and said the employee said «she was sorry we were so upset». Ice cream was good but will never go to that location per customer service experience. Washington pike location we have never had a problem with.

We have been eating here doe years. The ice cream sundaes and milkshakes are great. This is their speciality. We have ate dinner here a couple of times. Most of it has been delicious and worth the price. Wings-​good but too expensive. Reuben-​overpriced and left you wondering where’s the meat?. Burgers and hot dogs– great and worth the price.
Customer service runs hot and cold. Just roll the dice and hope you get lucky.

Aside from the fact that I received an incredibly rude response from the owners, simply because I was frustrated that they were closed earlier than expected, the ice cream is mediocre at best, and as someone else commented, they use knock off brand cookies instead of actual Oreos! They also ONLY HAVE TWO FLAVORS of ice cream, chocolate or vanilla, and it is not homemade! It’s Mayfield brand, which uses a lot of artificial flavors and can be found at any gas station. Why pay extra for non homemade ice cream, a mediocre brand no less, that you can buy in the store anywhere, with knock off brand toppings? No wonder the ice cream seemed so bland and the toppings tasted cheap.
Just so you know, I used to go to this ice cream shop all the time about five years ago when I lived in Knoxville on Tazewell Pike. It was completely different back then: very friendly owners, many different homemade ice cream flavors, and decent toppings. The dining room had brightly colored designs on the walls, and the whole place seemed cheery and nostalgic. Even the regular food was good.
Now it’s all been redone and ruined by some angry, cheap person. So very sad.

Ordered an oreo shake.. and got knock off cookies instead of oreo. I know it’s know big deal, but for the price I want what I actually order. I hate those cheap chocolate cookies. If thats what they are gonna use they shouldnt call it «Oreo».

Hungry and not looking to cook or drive very far, we decided to give Twister’s a shot since it’s 3 minutes away and very recently just opened for business.
Usually little places like these offer some good food, and my expectations were spot on. I had the BBQ pork sandwich and it was great. They cook up some damn good bar-​b-​que. My girlfriend had the wings, and while they’re not on the same level as say, Buffalo Wild Wings, they were better than anything you’d find at Dominos, Pizza Hut, PJ’s, etc.
They have a nice assortment of appetizers and sides. If anyone at Twister’s ends up reading this, I’d suggest adding fried cheese curds instead of Mac n Cheese bites. Mmm. fried gooey goodness. The pickle chips are great, and I’m not a huge fan of pickles.
The prices are fantastic. For what you pay at most fast food places, you could double up every item you order and pay just about the same. Unless you’re a cheap bastard and just get something off of the dollar menu every time. I hope the prices stay the same, and don’t get higher as they get more popular (which they most definitely will.)
Don’t know how good their shakes are yet, or what they even offer flavor-​wise. I will be finding out tho, and updating for sure.
