The Bungalow Spa is an appointment only practice housed in historic bungalows at 1105 and 1107 8th St on the corner of Orange Ave. on Coronado. In the 1105 bungalow, your service is personal and one on one with the therapist. You do not share the space with any other clients while receiving treatment, Owner Andrea Kane specializes in therapeutic deep tissue and sports massage, as well as special needs clients (cancer, rehab, chronic conditions). Lindsay offers therapeutic, pre-​natal and relaxation massage. You will also find full body waxing and sugaring; manscaping; customized facials, and chemical peels at The Bungalow. In-​home and in-​room massage (outcall) available at homes and hotels on Coronado and in San Diego. Military discount available for 60 minute massage. Private yoga and STOTT Pilates reformer sessions are available along with in-​home training.

The 1107 8th St bungalow offers hair and nail services for men and women. Manicures, pedicures, CND Shellac manicures & pedicures, gel and acrylic. Nail appointments are available by appointment only and can be scheduled on the website. Sara Stuber is the stylist and nails are done by Margarite Capone.

Appointments can be scheduled through the online scheduler, by text or by calling the office and leaving a voicemail. Calls are returned between clients.

History

Established in 2008.

Started as Massage Garage from home and now located in two lovely 1920’s bungalows offering a «one-​stop» shop for clients looking for skincare, massage, nails, waxing and hair styling.

You will find customized treatments for men and women: deep tissue bodywork & massage, body sugaring and waxing, skincare and chemical peels. The Bungalow Spa offers clients an unpretentious, comfortable setting for exceptional one-​on-​one treatments and personal attention. Today was my second time seeing Lindsay and I can’t wait to go back. I’ve suffered from back pain pretty much my whole life, it’s normal for me to have back pain, but when I see Lindsay I can honestly say I know what it means to feel good!
She is incredible! Warm, welcoming, and unbelievably friendly. She listens and works her magic! You have to go see her, you won’t be disappointed.

I love the Bungalow Spa! I first tried it out when I was pregnant and Lindsay, a prenatal masseuse, was just what I needed for all the pressure I was feeling from the added weight. I also love Andrea, who is really firm and extremely strong and finds those pressure points every time! I highly recommend both of them for a massage and can’t wait to go back!

Cons:
— Andrea made me feel muscles where I didn’t even know I had any. A bit uncomfortable because of pressure in sensitive areas. But I did ask to apply less pressure and she did.
— $ 140 for the hot rock massage. 90min in total. I also have a %20 tip ($ 28). Even though it was a great experience, deep down, I didn’t think it was worth $ 168.
Pros:
— Andrea was very welcoming and kind. She was informative and advised me on how to make my experience better.
— The set up was pretty relaxing and the music was nice and easy.
— The massage itself made me feel a range of feelings and emotions. I felt like a cat on a rollercoaster.
— I didn’t feel rushed.
Summary: Great experience and it is so relaxing. My body feels so loose. I reccomend this massage parlor to anyone. I would come back, just not to spend almost $ 200. Perhaps the $ 60 cash for 60 min massage they have going on every Friday.

Have seen Margarite for manicure & pedicure for years and love her new location! It is quaint, relaxing and easy to get to (street parking no problem at all). She is always professional, responsive and easy to book appointments, texting is always faster for me.
I like the overall vibe and energy of the salon and appreciate not only the cleanliness but that she uses higher quality lotions/​products that feel like they are better for your skin. Her pedicures are wonderful and polish lasts for weeks!

Getting cleaned up after a long time of hard abuse on my hands and feet. Few places have the charm and warmth that the bungalow spa has. New additions, Bozena Gaudio and Margarite Capone were absolutely wonderful and professional, and accommodated the short notice appointment. A must visit over all the choices in Coronado. The shop is conveniently located but not in the center of the touristy part of town offering a relaxing and tranquil experience.

Went to see Andrea for another massage and it couldn’t have come at a better time! I had just finished a week of moving furniture into a fourth floor studio apartment in Boston and my back, quads and hammies were screaming for relief.
As usual, Andrea worked her magic and I walked out feeling good as new. I can’t say enough good things about Bungalow Spa… professional, reasonably priced and accessible… simply AWESOME!

My aunt, a resident at Fredericka Manor (please see my review), asked me to arrange for a pedicure and manicure. Based upon Unilocal’s 5 star ratings, I asked Bozena at Bungalow Spa (formerly of Sanctuary Spa) if she could visit my aunt and do the services requested.
Bozena informed me that she has a complete portable set of supplies and instruments for home visits. Several other disabled people use her services. We decided on a time and day.
My aunt, all of 98 years old, was very pleased with Bozena. She found Bozena to be very precise as well as gentle with her arthritic feet. Bozena was trained in Germany to a much higher standard than required by the State of California, apparently. My aunt was so happy with the manicure and pedicure that she requested another appointment in six weeks. That is truly a happy customer !
I am so relieved that a person such as Bozena can bring my aunt such happiness.

Manicures and Pedicures by Margarite are to die for. She does a one hour pedi that includes a fabulous leg and foot massage, and her manicures leave your hands and arms rejuvenated. But the real value is that my toenail polish lasts several weeks looking top shelf. Good looking feet matter in the sandal world of SoCal and compared to countless other pedis all over the USA, hers are the reliable best.
Margarite has recently started doing my husband’s nails (sans polish he wants me to make absolutely clear). This took years of convincing him, but my Christmas Gift Certificate finally got him in the door, and Margarite has shown him the value and ease of what is now a regular grooming treatment.
Margarite has a spotlessly clean work station and takes cues on whether it’s a day to chat, confide, or be quiet. She has come to our home to do treatments for our daughter’s bridal party. Give yourself a treat and a treatment you will enjoy.

I WISH I was staying in coronado forever just to keep coming back here! I had a Brazilian wax as a combo of hard wax and sugaring. I had never had the sugaring before and I think it made a big difference. This is the smoothest my skin has ever been after a wax. I usually get at least one or two ingrown hairs, too and this time I have had ZERO! (It has been a week and a half since my appointment) This girl is a magician! Top recommendation!!!

Andrea and Lindsay are AMAZING.
My boyfriend surprised me with a couple’s massage package for our anniversary, and it was brilliant.
J said that he made Andrea over the phone, requesting to book a couple’s massage (available only on Saturdays and Sundays), and she was polite, quick to answer any questions/​concerns, and even walked him through what he would need to know about massages.
Fast forward to our appointment!
We walked down Orange and 8th, and nearly missed the Bungalow Spa! It’s like a little hidden gem right on the corner of this huge street on Coronado. Since we arrived about ten minutes early, Andrea took us to our massage room (very clean, comfy, and nicely decorated!). She introduced Lindsay and herself, and walked out of the room to allow us to get ready for the massage.
Seventy minutes later, the both of us agreed that we would definitely come back if we’re back in the area.
According to J, Andrea was able to loosen all the knots in his back and calves. I LOVED Lindsay! She asked if I was sore anywhere and I told her my shoulders were super tight, but by the end of the session, I felt so relaxed.
Every aspect offered by the Bungalow Spa completely exceeded our expectations.

I went to the Bungalow to see if they carried a specific facial soap. I happen to run into Andrea on the street as she was leaving. She came back to the spa and asked me if she could help me. So I asked about a certain brand and if she carried. Unfortunately they do not BUT we talked and I learned more about my skin than I did from my dermatologist. Andrea is wonderful! She was on her way out and she took the time to talk me even tho she was running late for a personal appointment. That in my book is worth a lot. I will be back to visit Andrea! She’s a wonderful spirit.

Bungalow Spa is the best massage spa in San Diego. Seriously, let me tell you why.
I have been all over San Diego to different massage parlors, and I learned the hard way: you get what you pay for. Some spas are super cheap, but I always leave them unsatisfied. However I tried Bungalow spa which is more pricey, but I left feeling healed.
I developed severe neck and back problems from working a full time desk job. I have even been to a Chiropractor, and the pain still stayed with me. (I hate Chiropractors now, by the way.) I trusted my fellow Unilocalers’ ratings and booked an appointment online here and stated the problems I was having. Lindsay focused on the problem areas during the session, and the pain was gone immediately. Plus the massage was very relaxing, especially since it was just me in the office/​spa room.
Some people complained about the customer service line. I never had to use it, and you wouldn’t have to either if you take advantage of the online scheduler and commit to your appointment. Lindsay knew I was coming before I got there, and this shows that the online scheduler is reliable.
Long story short. Everything was top notch. Beautiful Coronado, relaxing music, great staff, and the best massage. I will definitely book another appointment.
