Absolute best beach I have found in San Diego 1) Private military beach so it’s wayyyyyy less crowded 2) You can drink beer! 3) Lots of grills and covered patios 4) Clean Bathrooms!

Military access-only beach. BBQ pits, volleyball court, bathroom stalls, not-so-crowded beach, soft sand, and great location to watch the sunset. One of my fav beaches to go for a bbq with friends and to enjoy a peaceful day on the beach.

We drive here from PB for the less crowded golden beach! Bathrooms and parking a bonus!

Great beach for military and their families. There’s only one other base in the San Diego are that I know has a beach, and it’s nothing like this. The other reviews have said most of it, but there are also facilities that make this better than a normal beach. There are several shaded and unshaded picnic benches as well as BBQ pits. It’s also a short walk to the Mini NEX if you forgot something.

What’s not to love about gator beach? Lots of open beach, not a lot of people in your way ruining your outdoor time. You have an overall very clean beach area, and for your lady… A bathroom, key for the ladies. You gotta have base access, which is cool and right off the bat gets rid of the all the turds that can’t get on base.

Nice beach and NOT crowded. The one thing I hate the most is crowds. With huge crowds comes beau coup ignorance. Sure, call me antisocial, its ok. I hate going to the mall at Christmas time too. Sue me. Anyway, gator beach is my fathers favorite beach being retired Navy and all. As the previous reviewer mentioned, you have to have a military ID or come on base with someone who has one. I like it because they have picnic areas, grills, volleyball set up and did I mention its not very crowded? Pretty nice spot for relaxing and enjoying family and friends.

We used to come here a lot when we were younger. Of course now, we’ve discovered there’s so many places to go. This place is where we had a lot of family get togethers. Lots of memories were made here. They have cabanas good for picnics and parties. It’s not as crowded as other beaches cuz this one is in the Naval Base on Coronado. I kinda like how it’s exclusive. Only those with military ID cards can get in. But then again, I no longer hold a card cuz I’m too old to be a dependant. Now I have to wait for someone to bring me in. That’s ok. I still love Gator Beach!
