Crown Cove

So, there are many reviews for Silver Strand State Beach and the Crown Cove Aquatic Center that including overlapping locations, incorrectly matched photos, and in general, are not totally correct.
Silver Strand State Beach is on the west side of Silver Strand Blvd. It requires paid entry and is part of the California State Parks. There is a huge parking lot, and the consequential crowds, trash, and other things you expect of… .a beach. Crown Cove is a happy little beach on the EAST side of Silver Strand Blvd. This is also the cove where the Aquatic Center hosts their lessons, but their actual facility is not located there. For ages, I just called this place «Secret Beach». I even hesitated writing this review because I would love to keep this place a secret forever. But I figure, if you’re willing to drive out to the strand and make the mini-​trek over to the beach, hey– you’ve EARNED it.
There is no parking at this location. The easiest way to get there is to park on Attu Avenue, just off of Silver Strand Blvd, and walk or bike south down the bike path to the cove, which might take 10 minutes. I mean, unless you want to pay to park at Silver Strand, and try to run across the road, and also, maybe don’t mind dying?
The rest of your time there is up to you! Even with occasional groups of lessons from the Aquatic Center, I’ve never seen more than 20 other people on this whole beach at one time. Oftentimes I have been the sole proprietor, basking in the sun and the feeling of living in my own private paradise. The water is shallow and warm, the views of downtown, pristine. At the far south end of the cove, you might see a couple of gents prepping their boat for the days activities.
