Coronado Community Center

My daughter had her wedding and reception here a couple months ago in August 2015. The wedding ceremony took place on the adjacent lawn… with amazing views of Glorietta Bay. We rented chairs for our guests and decorated a wedding arch with flowers. It is a beautiful venue with more than enough space for the 200 guests we had in the Nautilus Banquet room. We were so happy to secure a date during the summer, but we booked it almost a year ahead of the wedding. Wesley was very helpful throughout the whole process and answered all of our questions by email and/​or phone. There is also beach access across the street, where my daughter and her husband took spectacular photos at sunset… you just can’t beat the prime location! Most of our vendors were familiar with this venue, so everything just flowed perfectly throughout the wedding and reception. It was great that the venue provided tables and chairs, as well as a big dance floor for the reception. Our DJ used lighting inside the reception room to set the mood for dancing. I would suggest hiring a wedding coordinator for a big wedding, as she was very helpful with planning, but also in helping us pack up everything at the end of the night. I would highly recommend this amazing venue on beautiful Coronado Island.

Good price to rent out the place for a reception but not worth the wait. BE PREPARED to get your application pushed to the next date and the next date and the next date.
I called the place and at first Wesley was friendly and acted like he really wanted to help.
When I went to see the place and mind you, I had made an appointment with him for him to show me the place and when I got there it was a young girl who helped me and she did not know the full details of every question I had. I don’t understand why he would make an appointment with me and then not even show face.
Honestly, I looked over that and decided to still give this place a shot because I loved how spacious it is.
There is no draping allowed. Nothing can be pinned on the walls, taped, etc. You can’t really decorate this place not unless you put more money down to get pillars somewhere else. (thankfully I would have had a good deal from a catering company)
Wes told me to submit my application and I did this 2 – 3 months in advance of the date I wanted with the $ 20 deposit. MOST WAIST OF TIME EVER. IT DOES NOT MATTER EVEN IF YOU PUT YOUR APP IN AND A DEPOSIT because no matter what SOMEONE ELSE WILL turn in an app literally 1 – 2 weeks before the date you requested and STILL has a chance of getting the place over you. Someone turned in their app a week before the date I wanted and Wes did a raffle and apparently the person won. I got pushed to the following date and one week later I get an email that, that date is taken as well.
I wished I went searching for other places instead of getting my wedding date pushed back and forth.
Honestly, they don’t really care if you get the place or not because they apparently have a wedding every Saturday anyways.
Glad I took my business else where and didn’t wait another month just to get told again I didn’t win a raffle or someone «booked» the place.
P. S. THERE IS NO NEED TO TURN IN YOUR APP EARLY. no matter what someone else will turn their app in and there will be a «raffle».

The Coronado Community Center was the perfect place for my wedding. It’s a beautiful spot for a ceremony/​reception and very spacious. We had our ceremony on the grass and at first I was nervous that you would be able to hear the cars during our ceremony and that was not an issue at all. I was also nervous about parking in Coronado during the summer since my wedding was in September. None of my guests had issues with parking and they have spots for the venue and street parking. We had Bekker’s cater our wedding and we hired Bella Beverage Catering for our bartenders/​drinks. Both vendors knew the venue well so it was really easy to work with them and make sure everything ran smoothly. Wes is so awesome to work with and he’s always so friendly! He made my fiancé and I feel at ease for our big day, especially the week of the wedding. I would highly suggest booking the venue as early as possible. We planned our wedding 18 months in advance and we almost did not get the date we wanted since this venue is very popular. I would highly recommend this venue for weddings or any special occasion.

Hi I am the owner of a DJ Entertainment company here in San Diego and after performing a few weddings here I have to say it is one Great facility. Wes, Jeff and Kelly have been great with all vendors and clients through out every event. The views of the water and city are great and the cool breeze is quite refreshing. The building is perfect for any type of event you might want to hold. As a DJ and vendor I highly recommend this place.

We had our wedding reception here 2 weeks ago on a Saturday and it was awesome! The space looked great and didn’t have any issues with our vendor. Wesley is super nice and helpful and working with him was great! Price is affordable and you bring in all of your own vendors! I loved the fact we could utilize the patio for the cocktail hour, food and bars. We also had a band that fit perfectly on their stages. Thank you CCC!

We recently had our wedding here on ³⁄₂₇ and were so happy with the venue. The views are absolutely beautiful, the venue is nice, new and well kept. They were easy to work with and inexpensive for what we got. They worked with our vendors, there is parking and we got countless compliments on the venue. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone who wants a beautiful wedding setting, but you better book quickly because they book far in advance.

The Coronado Community Center is the best kept secret for a beautiful and affordable Wedding. San Diego Destination Weddings has been providing local and destination couples with an all-​inclusive wedding package here since their opening. As one of the few venues in San Diego that allow you to bring in you own catering and alcohol and with beautiful views of the bay, its easy to see why it is sooo popular. Beautiful place, and so affordable. I could not have asked for better! The only bummer was that they are strict about candles/​sparklers. But Wes is AMAZING and it was such a fun and beautiful place to have our reception.

We had talked about using this as the location for our wedding and eventually decided against it because of a lack of available dates. The gentleman that helped us told us that a certain date was available but as we turned in the application and $ 25 fee he told us that our date wasn’t available.
In talking with him over the phone he explained that he had the date taken on his personal calendar but that he had failed to update their online calendar. DO NOT TRUST THE ONLINE CALENDAR… many of the dates he gave us after this showed different availability. He also said over the phone that because of the mistake he would refund the $ 25 fee that we paid to hold an optional date. This was a lie. When we couldn’t find a date that worked we asked for the refund and he refused. We didn’t get it in writing so there wasn’t anything we could do. It’s just $ 25 but it’s half a tank of gas!
We went on a tour of the facilities and they seemed nice, especially when you consider the price. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ASK A TON OF QUESTIONS AND VERIFY EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU. This individual did not know his stuff and we had zero confidence we could trust his answers unless we had them in writing (GET IT IN WRITING!!).

I visited the Coronado Community Center on my day off to try out the indoor rock climbing wall. It was apparent the teenager that was supervising the harness had no idea what he was doing. He told me three times that when I need to get back down I just had to let go of the harness and it would bring me down slowly. Each time I dropped like a rock and once almost lost my balance when I fell. Either the equipment was not functioning or set up properly, or they really had a clueless kid that working the wall that was totally unqualified. I even have the whole event captured on video as my wife was filming me with her phone. Lots of family’s including kids come in to climb and I don’t want someone else hurt, so I even wrote a letter to the city office that oversees the community center. Never heard back from them.

We held our wedding at the Coronado Community Center in January 2014 and had a wonderful experience. We worked with Kelsey and she was excellent throughout the planning process and have nothing but good things to say.
The venue itself is beautiful, right on the bay in Coronado. We didn’t need to spend a lot of money on flowers or other decorations because the site itself is so lovely. You can easily walk across the street to the beach to take pictures at the Del, the beach, etc. One of the things we loved the most about the venue is that everything could be held in one place — ceremony, cocktails, and the reception. As a bonus, there are a number of hotels in easy walking distance as well as bars for an after party. Our guests raved about the location and many of them made a mini-​vacation out of the weekend.
We also loved that we could bring in our own vendors for catering, alcohol, waitstaff/​bartenders, cake, etc. You are truly in charge of all the details. We didn’t want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on our wedding and we know we couldn’t have had as nice of a day with as many guests if we’d had the wedding elsewhere. I highly, highly recommend checking it out if you’re planning your wedding!

Best venue in San Diego County … Wesley and Kelsey go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. A bargain considering the location and service. Highly recommend!

Went here for a wedding. The ceremony was outside and the reception was inside. They easily fit their party of 170 and there was plenty of parking.
Warning: it can get really cold outside if there’s any wind. Temp was 68, but it felt like 50.
Inside was really clean and modern, and the dance floor was huge.
They have nice views of the bay.

The Coronado Community Center was the perfect place for our wedding ceremony and reception. When we first began our research in San Diego, it was difficult to find a venue that was on the water, allowed receptions past 10 p.m. and permitted you to bring in your own caterers/​bartenders. The Coronado Community Center met all of our top requirements and was very helpful with providing a ton of options for caterers.
A lot of our guests were traveling from out of town, so having the wedding in Coronado was an added bonus with all of the hotels, restaurants and shops within walking distance to the venue. We were happy that our guests enjoyed the area so much.
On the actual wedding day 4÷6÷13, the weather was beautiful so it worked out well having the ceremony on the grassy park area adjacent to the patio. We then had cocktail hour on the patio followed by the indoor reception in the Nautilus room. With Saturday weddings, they require that you use the entire Nautilus room (they can make it half the size for cheaper on other nights), but we found that the extra space was nice for our guests. The staff did a terrific job with setup/​take down and we couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out.

This is a Wonderful facility with incredible staff like Dave that helped make our wedding amazing! Wonderful place to get married and have a reception.
Easy reservation process, very affordable, great views of the bay, the bridge, close to the ocean, ample parking, and they gave us an excellent recommendations for a caterer, Danny at Centerpark café.
I highly recommend the Coronado community center and Centerpark café to everyone for a spectacular wedding experience. You will not find a better place for the price.

Anticipate taking longer to get here than expected. It’s pretty far down the strand on Coronado Island…
The venue:
It’s ok… for the most part. Depends on what you’re looking for. Staff is efficient but hasn’t been too friendly. Venue is efficient and the setting is great (on the water).
Overall:
Recommended for weddings and events with large crowds on with a modest budget.

Great views outside and large banquet areas. Nice facility. There is an indoor rock wall in the lobby? Doubt that gets much use on the south side of coronado island. haha

Great venue to have events at! Nice secenery, plus side they have parking and random I know they also have indoor rock climbing!

Probably the best kept wedding secret in San Diego. If getting married on the water, with views of the Del, the Bridge, and the City without breaking the bank is your style this is it. Your provide them with a floor plan of where you want the tables, the dancefloor, and the two bars and they will set it up. The rest (from linen to silverware to booze) is up to you.
This is for the bride that likes to plan and can be in control. You can let your imagination go crazy here, but you will likely need several vendors. You rent the room by the hour. The average wedding reception/​ceremony will run you about $ 2500. Try finding water weddings anywhere else for that!

Beautiful pool and fitness center that is WELL maintained due to the ample $$$$ from the residents of the City of Coronado. I went here to specifically swim laps in their 50 meter pool. Great location for a one hour hard work out in the pool. The Tank and I had an entire lane to myself. I got to float with my two stomachs doing the back stroke for one hour without being disturbed!!! Nice clientele, GREAT lifeguards who actually have personalities and nice areas for laying out to dry your suit! Swim for non-​residents is 5.00 with a .50 locker fee. Cheaper than a movie and this takes you off of the computer for a while. The view from the pool is of the Coronado Bridge and «Davey Jone’s Locker’ :-D! I bet that Capt Sparrow would be proud!
One special note, if you are a climber, they have a big indoor climbing wall! There is also a GREAT workout room that faces the water.
Minus one star for the surly and somewhat bored behaving front desk people… come on now guise minimum wage is 8.00 bucks an hour. You are getting paid to surf the Internet all day and take people’s money. Give up a smile or two every once in a while. geez.
