Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island

Clean rooms, free parking, daily breakfast, close access to the convention center. And they didn’t cheap out on the soap. What more could you ask for? The only thing it did not have was a direct shuttle service from the hotel to the convention center, but for this price I could easily afford to drive and park every day and still come out ahead.
Or one could do the 20 minute walk to Hotel Del Coronado and hitch a ride from there. It’s no Holiday inn express, but it’s close. 4 stars.

We came here for a conference nearby. I was shocked at the price ($ 170/​night) but after comparing other hotels nearby, it was the most reasonable. The grounds were clean and nicely appointed. Check in was speedy and the clerk was very pleasant; he noted that I am a loyalty program member and gave us a complimentary upgrade to a two room suite. Wifi and parking were complimentary, as was the hot breakfast (which was surprisingly good.) The room was sparkling clean and while the couch upholstery had some stains, the overall feel was homey and comfortable. The bed was great; pillows (4 per bed!) were a little too fluffy for my taste, but they had a flatter one in the closet. The bath products were from Rusk and were very nice. Room had a microwave, coffeemaker, fridge and two TVs, plus lots of plugs. I enjoyed the time we spent here and would love to come back to Coronado (if I hit the lottery, cos this place is expensive.)

Great location, friendly staff (especially Estefan at front desk) and comfy room. Get a room on the 3^rd floor, quiet, spacious with lots of natural light. Will definitely return in the future.

Hidden gem!!! My husband booked this hotel for a surprise getaway, and he did not disappoint. The room was great, extremely clean, staff was attentive and kind, and the location could not be beat. We were 7 minutes from the Gaslamp district, downtown, and Seaside village, and 10 minutes from the San Diego Zoo. Also, we were across the street from a brewery and a few restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for one when visiting San Diego, and will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was affordable and comfortable a few blocks from ferry landing, the front desk clerks was helpful plus friendly about 3 mins. check in (Trivago) the grounds outside was well maintained, this is a three stories building with free under ground parking, and a pool, room #111 was a pretty nice size… and so glad it didn’t have that musty smelling of the carpet and drapes, the room had a flat screen, a dvd player, free WIFI, two chairs, a desk, a mini fridge, a microwave, a sink, six sources of lamps for lightning the room, the bed and pillows were so soft and comfortable and they even smell fresh… but I still febreze both of them down, the towels in the bathroom were thick I believed 100% cotton, the best part about staying here was the full hot breakfast, pan cakes, small sausages, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, pastries, bagels, 8 difference type of dry cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, fruits, granola bars, milk and juices, inside a enclosed room along with two flat screens and a bookshelf with books… also free water come with the room. I would definitely book and stay here again.

I’d give it 2.5 if I knew how. The location of the hotel is great! You can walk to the bay, stores, bar… perfect! The rooms were just ok. What does it seem that these places are always so dark and damp? Staff was very nice.

Suites are nice and spacious. However, it doesn’t feel like a hotel suitable for vacation. Staff needs serious customer service training, especially a very rude employee by name Esperanza. Manager is nowhere to be found and not available.

This best western was just okay. Our room overlooked someone’s backyard and we could literally hear every single footstep of those staying above us. It was a clean room and the hot breakfast was definitely a nice surprise but not sure that i would stay here again unless i was really penny pinching.

Really pleased with our visit. Room very large and clean, beds comfy. Location very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely patio area for smokers like us and nice continental breakfast.

Nice casual hotel. Hotel staff OK, if not overly friendly. Breakfast was decent. A little far away if you are looking for access to bars and restaurants along west side of island, but is close to ferry landing as well as some decent places to eat along the eastern side. Nice room, but no place beside bed to sit and relax. My room view overlooked someone’s back yard. Overall not a bad place.

If you’re looking for an affordable stay on Coronado Island, I would recommend this Best Western. It’s a very short walk from the pier, but a bit of a walk to the bars and restaurants in town. Probably something like 8 blocks.
The suite we stayed in had 2 queen beds (in one room) and a pullout couch separated by double doors. The 6 of us stayed comfortably in the room, although coordinating the use of 1 bathroom was a small challenge. I liked that the sink and vanity was separate from the shower/​toilet area, which made it easier for the 4 girls in the room to get ready in the morning.
The front desk attendants were nice, they ever grumbled when we asked for extra towels.
The hot breakfast bar was nice, especially when you’re part of a large party and trying to get everyone out the door for breakfast would be a huge hassle– there were eggs, sausage, pancakes, breakfast taquitoes, and cereal and pastries galore to choose from. This added an extra star to the otherwise just A-​OK hotel.

We Stayed here memorial day weekend. It was the only place I could find that didn’t require a 3 night stay or want $ 600 per night.
They were sold out of non smoking rooms so I gambled and booked a smoking room. We happened to be in the area early and asked if possible if they could switch us to a non smoking.
When we came back she switched us and the room was great. No view or anything fancy. The bed was comfy, the room was clean, it had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. The free breakfast was more than just granola bars, they had pancakes, eggs, juice, a whole spread.
Staff was nice and professional. The parking is free which is rare on the island. It’s not in the heart of downtown but its walking distance to downtown in one direction and the ferry landing in the other.
I would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay. It’s not the fanciest place to stay on the island but the rooms are clean and the bed comfortable. Staff at the front desk very pleasant and helpful. Walking distance to all the shop, bars, and the beach.

I travel quite a bit and I have stayed in tons of crappy motels… One with 6’s, roofs that were red, Howard Something or other, etc, etc.
Check it was easy and the front desk person was really nice.
This was the nicest cheapy room I have ever stayed in.
The bed was large and comfy, the TV was large, the room was clean and very large for a standard room.
Honestly, if they had pillows of varying firmness, this would have been a five star rating. Don’t get me wrong, this is not the Beverly Hilton, it is a cheap room but the best cheap room I ever stayed in.

What in the heck do you want!!! It’s a Best Western for crissakes. This is not the Ritz but the room was clean and the bed comfy.

It was OK.
Since I grabbed a cheapie last minute deal and was a solo traveler, they put me in room309 –which is probably the small/​smallest room they have. It was a still a decent size, but not the same deal as the suites.
Inside the room was clean. Bed was comfy. Equipped with a fridge, and two complementary water bottles. The location is quite fabulous. And, I got a room at good rate!
Now on to the «meh» qualities.
Room 309 looks toward next properties’ windows, so not so privately situated for lounging around.
Room 309 is unfortunately next to the ice machine. This ice machine is loud for 24hrs straight.
Room 309’s door doesn’t shut properly unless you apply a secondary force. Not so secure if you don’t remember to check its closure.
Wifi sucked. When I’m traveling for business, this is kind of a big deal.
Complementary bk was just ok.
So I guess my take away is, yeah, it’s a decent option, but stay away from room 309!

The Best Western Coronado is not ready for guests, Valentines Day 2013! The first floor and half of the second floor per the front desk man is under construction. Our room smelled bad, had lights that did not work, even the bed lamp had no electric outlet to plug in to.

This was one of our best stays in a hotel. The adjoining room suite was a real treat for us with 3 kids. Th hotel staff was very gracious and the morning goodies were good. The eggs not so much but fresh blueberries! We hope to stay here again and would reccomend it to anyone.

I would stay here again. Good location, near the ferry and grocery stores. They provided free parking, which is tough to come by in the area. Continental breakfast had a great selection of fruit, including berries.
The courtyard was nice. They have no gym, but with the weather there, do you really need one?

The last time I stayed at the Best Western in Coronado was about 15 years ago. That is, until this last week.
I just stayed for one night, but it’s all very familiar. The architecture fits in well with Coronado. It’s at the other end of town, away from the Hotel Del, so it’s a quiet place to spend the night. Still, everything is within walking distance.
It’s no longer new, and there are a lot of amenities missing, but it’s standard stuff. And they gave me a suite for $ 115/​night, which was pretty nice. And they have parking underground, not a small thing in a small town with lots of cars and people in it.
