Description

Specialties

Honorable discharged Veterans and their spouses have earned free burial or cremation space at Riverside National Cemetery. Our Family Service Counselors assist Veterans and their families in putting their personal file in place so that all of their Burial and Memorial Benefits are received and their personal wishes for traditional burial or cremation are carried out.

History

Established in 2011.

It has been determined that less than 12% of eligible Veterans are receiving their Burial and Memorial benefits in Southern California. More than 88% of veterans, including former officers in military service, are unaware of how it works, or how to receive these valuable benefits — even though many of them have attended services for other veterans at Riverside National Cemetery. Because of this lack of knowledge, many Veterans and their families are spending thousands of dollars needlessly purchasing private cemetery property. The Veterans Burial Program was establish in 2001 to educating Veterans about their Burial and Memorial Benefits and assist them in making sure all of their burial or cremation wishes take place.
