The Port Theater

Last time I was at the Port we were throwing rice and toast while watching Rocky Horror!!!
Nice remodel and cool vibe.

This place is pretty much my new favorite theatre. Love the set up here, the pizza and wine/​beer we ordered was pretty good. Nice movie date spot; takes reservations w/​choice of seating. Will definitely be back.

Have been here a few times, and have loved the experience each time. In my opinion, The Port is so much better than The Island, in a myriad of different ways. Much more comfortable seating, better food, and the people that work at The Port are always really friendly (in an authentic way) — and much friendlier than at The Island. Lastly, The Port is a locally owned business versus some corporate monolith like Regal Cinemas (the company that owns The Island) and I like to support local business. Aside from locally owned or not, The Port is just miles above The Island in almost every way.

Saw the reverent here today. Great food, awesome chairs and I’m a big guy so they were really soft and cozy! Tables in front of us for a place for our drinks and food. Loved this place, only way to watch a movie. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Port has hosted our company holiday party several years in a row. They remove the movie seating and it’s such a great venue for dinner & dancing.

Recently went to this theater to see star wars the force awakens. i love how this theater is so spacious, they only show one movie at a time. so i guess that could be a drawback but i really don’t think it’s that kind of theater, it’s upscale gourmet with reclining chairs, beer & wine, food, & it’s pretty cool décor.
the tickets can be cheap as a regular theater or more expensive with better accommodations. i guess it depends on how much you want to spend. the day i went was a bit hectic for staff they didn’t have a chef on duty & lots of people ordered pizza. hopefully they get that fixed. would love to go again when the right movie comes along.

I’ve been here a few times for holiday parties and movies and it’s always a memorable experience. Dinner and appetizers are always excellent and so are the drinks!
There’s a very cool ambiance and the staff is always polite and helpful. This is the best way to see a movie, in the comfort of Port Theater with some cocktails, popcorn in a large bowl, and their delicious pizza! Parking is easy on the weekends too since they offer free parking across the street. Can’t go wrong with that.
Come here when you truly want to enjoy a movie, with no distractions and great service.

The managers are trying very hard. The general experience is excellent and worth the price. A lovely theatre & well worth the price.

Saw Star Wars on Christmas Day. That’s what good Jewish boys do on Christmas. We bought tickets in advance. This was actually my first time going to a luxury theater. No lines, pre-​assigned seats, leather sofas and recliners, beer, gourmet snacks… what a great movie to start this new tradition. Excellent hot dog, decent food prices, too. The only reason this place is not five stars is the lack of beer selection (only two out of eight beers on the menu were on hand) and the really small capacity bathroom (made for a very long line after a movie).

So I’m not sure what’s not to love about this cinema.
1. You can reserve seats and seats are on comfortable leather recliners with cocktail tables
2. Cocktails! Yay for cocktails… wine, beer, mixed drinks, sodas etc
3. Actually decent tasting food and popcorn made on site.
4. Clean, updated, spacious theater and state of the art sound and screen
5. A good crowd of people who are respectful of others’ desire to enjoy the movie.
6. Walkable (if you drive you may have search a bit for a good street spot)
6. Super nice people working there!
That said, I realize it’s expensive and it only plays one movie at a time. The lines for concession on a sold out night can take a little while. I really don’t mind because I think it’s worth the money, I can plan ahead and arrive early and if you prefer more options there are lots of other local theaters. I prefer this theater and love supporting this local business.

We hosted our Holiday Party at the Port Theater and it was the most unique venue our company has seen in years! The staff and management at the Port were absolutely amazing the day of the event and everything went exactly as planned. The drinks and food were fantastic! We showed a Christmas movie in the background and it turned out to be a very festive and magical evening… one that my employees will definitely never forget! I can’t wait to plan another party here!

Looking forward to returning to this old school but stylish theater because of the bar, comfortable private seats, and a seriously good guacamole w/​diced tomatoes.
Yet I can’t give it 5 stars because
a) they were severely understaffed (though it was Star Wars),
b) my vodka and grapefruit was weak (but the glass heavy),
c) they let in a dog in a stroller (why do people think this is OK?),
d) our row of couches in the third row were LOWER than the row in front of us, so a big skull was blocking my view, all I saw was Head Solo.

Attended the Turelk Christmas Party and it was excellent. The event was well staffed, food and entertainment were awesome.

We had our company’s holiday party there and it was a great time! Everything was well organized and the food and drink were both very good. This is a great venue for any event. I also saw a movie here a few weeks ago and it was a great experience. The theater is clean, the seats are comfortable, and the drinks were good.

The Port hosted our holiday Christmas party and did a fantastic job. Their bartenders and waitstaff are polite and helpful and make a great Old Fashioned. They also played movie clips this year and created an overall great atmosphere for our party. Definitely look forward to attending a show here in the recent future.

Confession. It’s quite easy to make out with a girl on dark hidden couches in the back when the movie is not a great seller. Just saying

I have found your new favorite theater.
For the most part I detest the modern movie experience. People playing on their cell phones, sticky floors, revelers shouting out at the screen… I mean, who could blame me? I would prefer to sit in the comfort of my loft with the people I choose to be around and a mini refrigerator loaded with the snacks and beers that I love.
Enter: The Port Theater.
A full service bar? A full service kitchen? Reclining lounge chairs with end tables to hold my drink from said bar?! Reserved seating with escorts when you arrive? Clean, fully carpeted flooring and a state of the art screen and sound system??? $ 20.00+ ticket costs keeping the cell phone game players and crumb crunching unsupervised children at bay? Immaculate bathrooms even???
Where the hell has this been all of my life?
Thank you Port Theater for returning the love of public cinema to me and may you prosper for generations to come. 5 stars and a standing ovation.

Great experience overall.
Pros:
— unique experience
— REFRESHMENTS — can drink and eat at your seat; little table at each two seats
— SEATS — recliners and couches available. But don’t expect the recliners to be the most comfortable recliner you might have at home (they are bit boxy and stiff — your calves will get tired from a +2hr movie)
— RESERVED SEATING — good and bad. The good is that there is such a thing as «reserved» seating, allowing you to get the better seats and type you want. For recliners, get row 4 seats (410 to 413 are centered); see:
Cons:
— PARKING LOT — parking is not so great. If you are lucky to get a spot outside, okay, but if not, finding their lot a block and half away is difficult. Their instructions on their web site says: «reserved parking lot off Goldenrod/​Pacific Coast Highway. The parking lot is located behind Starbucks.» However, when you go behind Starbucks there are 4 parking lots with no mention of the theater. Behind Starbucks building itself is a few handicap spaces and then a garage underneath Starbucks. But actually that is not where you are supposed to park; you’re supposed to park in lot behind the Starbucks building parking lot, off the alleyway. There is a sign about not parking for Starbucks or bagels and another sign about the business that you can park for. So it would help if the instructions on their web site is just a tad bit more descriptive. This is the parking lot:

— PARKING ON STREET — They should also mention that street parking 1 hour limit as posted only applies up to 6 pm daily. So that means after 5pm you can park on street. Yes, one could read that, but with crazy drivers honking at you and drunk pedestrians everywhere it is hard to slow down enough to read signs and such. It should also be mentioned that there are no meters (so no need to worry about quarters and such).
— THE MOVIE SCREEN — the movie screen is small, so don’t expect the state-​of-​the-​art projector, screen and sound system you might be used to. I would not see the big action blockbuster there (and chances are it is not going to play there anyway.
— RESERVED SEATING — good and bad. The bad is that with them allowing reserved seating, even if you get there early, all the good seats might be reserved already, especially on weekends and such. And if you do reserve, it’ll cost a surcharge of $ 5 per ticket.
— PRICE — Assuming you got the reserved seating, it is a bit pricy at $ 20 a seat total, but not too bad. I am not a senior citizen, but I did notice that there is no discount for seniors!
Overall:
I’d go back. Especially learning from first experience (parking and which seat to pick)

GREAT place to see a movie! Since they only show one movie at a time, you’ll have to wait to check it out when they’re actually showing a movie that you want to see, but when they are, it’s totally worth the $ 18 price per ticket. Island Cinema in Fashion Island is $ 19 per ticket and this is a way better… actually Island Cinema is a pretty good theater too. ;)
To fully experience Port Theater, I would suggest eating dinner there (this is not your normal movie theater food!) and you might as well splurge the $ 5 extra for VIP tickets if you’re going on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Pretty much all of the seats are good, but paying for VIP tickets ensures that you get the «best seats» in the center of the theater where the footrests recline (and, of course, there’s the perk of being escorted to your seat like a VIP too).
Back to the food… I really like the hummus plate! It’s HUGE (more than enough for two people to share) and comes with delicious thick, fluffy pita bread, celery, carrots and three different dips. You definitely feel more sophisticated snacking on hummus and carrots than you do when snacking on typical movie theater popcorn or nachos.
