Pacific View Memorial Park

I don’t know how to rate this place overall… it seems like a good place… my Grandmother, Grandfather, and an aunt are all interred here. Hell even Marion Morrison aka John Wayne is here…
They have a very nice somewhat spacious chapel that will seat up to about 150 with standing room. There are also a lot of side rooms for smaller gatherings/​viewings. They also have a couple of rooms that can serve as an area for a mini wake/​gathering etc…
The mood here is always quite somber. I am sure that is due to the nature of the situation that brings someone here. The staff is very accommodating and is definitely ready to listen to help you out however you need.
A nice tribute across from the primary buildings is a series of special memorials for soldiers, police, fire, and others who have provided service in some fashion.
At the top of the hill on which this memorial park resides are a number of above ground tombs. My aunt is in one of these as she hated anything subterranean. Where as my grandparents are now together midway down the hill with a beautiful view of catalina, the ocean, and the coastal areas. It definitely makes for a nice way to visit them and remember the great times we had together up and down the coast in this vicinity.

Planning and making payments in advance for my mom when my dad died made the entire process much easier many years later when she passed. Michael is professional and immensely knowledgeable yet compassionate and flexible to ensure a difficult time is handled in a respectful manner with dignity and heart. Working with him on final preparations for my mom was comforting and greatly helped ease my mind. The staff I encountered are thoughtful, respectful, caring, and competent. Thank you, Michael.

Pacific View was very helpful when planning for a very quick burial and service for my grandfather. Everything was done with respect and taste. We are very grateful for their services. A key thing to note is buying the plot in person rather than over the phone saved us 20%.

Today, we hosted a funeral for my grandfather. We were expecting about 1000 guests, and I can honestly say that it went off without a hitch. From the beginning, when I first walked in and met Keri, I knew we made a good choice with Pacific View for grandpa. She and the rest of the staff are kind, caring, and compassionate and were available to help whenever and wherever necessary. We could not have pulled off the celebration of his life without them. Miles, the funeral director, organized everything and helped us more than I can say. He took care of everything from the smallest details to directing everyone to make sure the ceremony went smoothly. In addition, Linda and Jill worked tirelessly to set up everything. For instance, they feared that the line to sign the guest book would be too long considering how many people we expected, so they set up extra podiums outside — always looking for opportunities to help our family honor my grandfather in the best way possible. Roberta, and many other employees, took care of so much to make the event less stressful for us during a time of great hardship. From directing traffic to taking care of our many guests, they made sure everything was on track and flawless. Mark in the mortuary did an amazing job and made my grandfather look as if he were sleeping peacefully; we know he is truly at rest here on their beautiful grounds.

I wish I could give this place six stars for their accommodations for my late father.

Terrible communication — while they have a board which indicates where to go for a funeral/​service I think they could improve customer service if they had one of the three girls at the front desk outside helping direct visitors. It is always stressful and emotion coming to a funeral service, then trying to figure out where to go and to park becomes an added stress. It is Corona del Mar/​Newport Beach after all — the expectation for excellent service is created by the neighborhood.

This cemetery overlooks the Pacific which is about 3 miles away. For tourists its best known as the final resting place of John Wayne. You can google for directions to find his grave stone. The grass over the grave is a little worn showing that he gets a lot of visitors including me. RIP Duke!

Would do a 0 if possible. This cemetery is maintained excellently, but the cemetery employee, Michael Carlisle the so-​called family Councillor — has to be the least helpful person I have ever spoken with, he is rude, indigent, arrogant, and hung up on me three times, I am utterly disgusted that such a fantastic Cemetery has hired Michael Carlisle, an employee that is not only completely incompetent, but turns away potential clients. Would never recommend!

It’s a beautiful cemetery. I won’t fault them on that. One of my loved ones has been buried there for many years and I visit whenever I can. During my most recent visit I couldn’t remember where my loved one was so I was wandering around the general area looking to find them. A man noticed me doing that so he offered to drive to the office to find out where exactly I should go. I thought that was so nice so I took him up on the offer.
He came back and showed me where my loved one’s grave was, but instead of walking away he then tried to sell ME a plot before I could even get a chance to visit with my deceased! I was clearly crying (I get emotional at cemeteries!). I found that to be extremely POOR timing on his part! I was feeling vulnerable so when he asked for my number I stupidly gave it to him.
Big mistake. I have no idea why I gave him my real phone number. He has now called me multiple times! The last time I picked up and said to stop calling me! If you’re reading this Mr. Rude employee, please realize it isn’t such a good idea to harass people to buy a plot when they’re trying to just peacefully visit their loved one? SHEESH!

They way overcharge for their burial /​funeral related services and when I asked them if those costs were negotiable because our family wasn’t exactly rolling in money, one of their employees, Michael C from the cemetery department, had the gall to tell me we «should have planned ahead of time.» WAY TO CHASTISE SOMEONE AFTER THEY LOSE A FAMILY MEMBER. Unless they invented a time machine we could use so we could go back and better prepare for the event of a death, this comment was useless and insensitive.
Here is another way they take advantage of the vulnerable — only offering discounts for preplanning but not after someone has deceased because they know you are pressed for time to make arrangements. With their prices, you would think they were bringing people back from the dead. They also tried to sell us additional plots as we were making the arrangements for the burial. Attempting to make money off of someone during an emotional time is very inappropriate and disgraceful.
If you absolutely MUST use Pacific View, only go with their services that are absolutely required for the burial and shop around for everything else (I found much less expensive mortuary services listed on
).
Bottom line– don’t let anyone take financial advantage of you during a difficult time, much less this unscrupulous business. Don’t feed their greed.

No Stars from us! We fortunately did not have to bury a loved one here. It is beautiful, and I’m sure they bend over backwards to «sell» to you, but if you have any business beyond that, their so called «customer service» is non existent. We inherited the plots and it took over 2 years to get the property transferred so that we could finally sell it. We also had to pay an attorney money we had to borrow to finally settle the matter. We learned this is seriously a one way deal! They will not lift a finger to help you resell the property. Now they want us to pay to remove a very small marker placed on the property to remember our deceased brother who is not even buried there! $ 220.00. Save your money, cremation and ceremonial spreading of the ashes is the way to go!

What a nice place. I accompanied my party here who wanted to lay a loved one to rest here.
They don’t have their records up to date when they took us to see the available locations, only on paper. In fact, the granite guy started inscribing the information on a stone we were interested in. Some of the stones here are placed in locations with slippery grass and we had to walk on the stone walls to avoid having to be prematurely laid to rest here (some of us have poor balance and we almost did trip on the slippery grass).
The prices they quoted us were very high but according to the party member that was arranging this, the loved one specifically insisted on being buried here so none of us could complain about it. We only received a quote after determining the location and after they checked the availability of the location.
While we were discussing the information we received snacks… and they refilled over the time we were not in the conference room. We had to wait for the sales rep to come back for a while and during this time period I ended up consuming more snacks, but at least I didn’t need breakfast anymore. I have no idea how many times the sales rep walked out to answer our questions that my party members had mostly involving the procedure and how long it took for them to process the payment, and how many snacks I consumed in the process, so for making me gain weight, I’m not rating it a perfect 5 like I originally was going to. It took so long that I ended up being really late for work (what schedule I have is up to your interpretation) and I didn’t expect all those long-​winded instances of the sales rep leaving during this process. It took so long that I got a lot of gaming done in between. Are they trying to make us all die of boredom there so they get more business?
During the actual day of our procedure, they let us handle the cremated remains of our loved one and to put it in the slot in the rock (I was not aware of this being a standard procedure) and took some photos for us. The container they used for this loved one was made of bronze so she wouldn’t grow mold or go bad.
They take credit cards and offered to split the bill between the credit cards of a single party member.

Beautiful Park. Lots of trees and even wind chimes. My grandma is buried here. Went to go see her and my grandpa. They were buried side by side. Saw they put a new marker with both names on it which was really cool. Right under a beautiful tree.

Recently been looking for plots of land to bury a family member, and came here to visit and get some information about their plots for sale. The park is very well maintained: manicured lawns, clean walkways, and a very classy main office that is both serious and inviting. I met with Sharleen, who prepared a package for me with some options and took me on a tour of the varies locations in a very nice Caddy. Most of the areas are sold out, but some of the higher ocean view plots are still available. The views at certain parts of the park is stunning.
I especially like how peaceful, and quiet this place is, yet it’s not spooky like certain cemeteries. In addition, all the sections are very uniform and no weird and random headstones. As well, the park is open from 8am to dusk 365 days a year, so plenty of time to visit your loved ones.
Note: If you want to get a plot in a sold out section of the park, the plots are like real estate and there are listings for resale online.

This is an absolutely beautiful, well maintained, picturesque Memorial Park. If you have to be buried somewhere, this is definitely the place to be. On a clear day you can see the Ocean!
Both my grandmother and great grandmother were buried at this cemetery. Most recently, my grandmother had her burial here, and they catered a lovely brunch under a tent after the ceremony.
Dignity also did a great job picking up my grandmother from our house, and getting her dressed /​looking presentable. She looked absolutely beautiful at the viewing.

I do not recommend doing business with this company. We entered into a contract in June of 2010 which provided for a photo ring, niche plate and niche vase. I delivered a photo of the photo ring and more than one year went by with no action. After repeated phone calls I was advised the photo was lost. I obtained another photo and again months went by with no action. After again calling repeatedly, I was advised the company that makes the photo rings went out of business. I demanded and received a refund but they never returned my photo. After two years and repeated phone calls we still do not have a niche plate or niche vase. They took the money but never provided the service and the follow up was extrememly time consuming and frustrating. Not what you are looking for when mourning a loved one.

It’s a little strange to review a Mortuary and Cemetary (and be among the living), but bear with me here. This is at the hill that is at the top of my fitness walk/​run each late afternoon, and you can’t beat the views here, especially near sunset.
The view goes all the way down to Newport Harbor, and is a beautiful place to walk, bike, or drive through and spend some time in contemplation. If meditation is your think, this is really a great meditation garden.
As a special bonus, John Wayne is buried here in a very modest but beautiful location, and people often visit to pay respects to the Duke.

While this isn’t a milestone review like it was when my grandfather passed away, I wanted to give Pacific View an updated shout-​out for all the wonderful work they have been doing in helping me prepare for my grandmother’s funeral.
There is certainly a lot of work involved depending on how simple or how elaborate your service is. My grandfather opted for a graveside service which was low-​key and simple. My grandmother chose chapel service for herself which required a little more planning.
Elaine Poole, a mortuary counselor at Pacific View has been nothing short of a heaven-​sent to me. From the day after my grandmother’s passing to the funeral (spanning 2 weeks), she has been with me every step of the way, even helping me locate a Chinese-​speaking pastor to conduct the service.
Like I mentioned in my initial review, this is a very difficult time for those who have lost a loved one and often you are in a state of shock, or just confusion and you need people like Elaine to get you through the process. In the 2 weeks, I have visited PV 3 times and lost track of the number of phone calls Elaine and I have exchanged. Elaine even provided me with her home number two days prior to the funeral in case I needed to reach her.
I can’t compare PV with any other mortuaries because I’ve not had first hand experience with any other places, however, I’ve been to funerals and having been through this, I can truly appreciate when I do go to a funeral, understanding what is involved.
They also did a fabulous job on my grandma’s makeup — she looked like she was peacefully asleep — it was quite amazing. I was expecting her to wake up any minute, it was that realistic looking.
On top of that, the funeral director Miles was on the ball with everything up to the very end… it was raining when we got up the hill for the burial but Miles got the crew together and everything went off without a hitch — except for the rain of course — but it was all beautifully done.
