Ok. Sorry, but I won’t trust Unilocal again! I have thick, wavy hair which no one seems to understand, yet every hair dresser claims they know how to handle! Well, I got my haircut here and told the girl that typically, they never cut enough off. (my hair is heavy). She said to come back if I felt she did not cut enough. Sure enough, I go home and wash my hair myself and do it curly (she blew it out at the salon, so I could not tell) and realize on top, my hair is still heavy and just laying there doing nothing. So they let me come back in free of charge to «fix it». This was the biggest mistake of my hair cutting life. She cut it dry with THINNING SHEARS! She didn’t re-​style or nothing. I walked out a little concerned, but figured oh maybe once I wash it and put gel in, it will be fine. Terrible. My hair had two levels like from the 80’s!!! When I explained to a friend of mine what she did, she made me realize that she used thinning shears which are in most salons considered sacreligious. I never went back there again for fear of them ruining my hair even more so. In order to SEMI fix this, I had to get another haircut and cut off like 5 inches to try and not make the hideous layers she thinned out so obvious. I still have very frizzy layers to contend with even with my short hair. Horrible experience.

I was contacted me after the problems I was having and they gave me a good deal to get it fixed. I had to go to a master stylist to change the look completely, but I think it will look better for me anyway. A bit darker than I anticipated but, I still need to book another appointment to finish the look. But I am happier that this has been fixed. Pat worked hard with me to get things on track. I was misinformed regarding the understudies, the first time I went and had an understudy she was great! (But she had years of experience) I got a different understudy who was still learning. I would always ask before you schedule with one. :)

Absolutely fantastic service and dedication — Love their consistency to ensuring customer satisfaction of their service as well as making them as comfortable as possible during the process! I HIGHLY recommend Sabrina — she does a phenomenal job on my cut and color and has a widely impressive background and true expertise. Their salon services aside from hair are definitely above par and offer a wide variety of services.

I’m modifying my review after talking with the owner. She is very willing to ensure that she pleases each customer. It is very nice to know that she values not only her employees but the feedback she receives to improve each experience. We are happy with our credit that she has made available at her salon, toward product or services; our choice!

Ok blowout, lasted th evening pretty we’ll, but stylist used a metal brush which will fry hair if you get regular blowouts. A true blowout specialist will use boar bristle and possibly finish a bit with ceramic or metal. She said that is all they are «allowed to use» and all staff has to use same. Also felt a little creepy about the constant canned overly enthusiastic greetings and comments from staff– energy in ther a bit tense too. Not sure if owner is like super controlling or what’s going on– staff seemed almost scared.

I had the 50 minute deep tissue massage with Jennifer. It was a great way to start Mother’s Day weekend! All of the staff was very hospitable. I loved the depth of products on hand.

I hate moving. I hate the packing, and the unpacking, and the days/​weeks/​months of finding your things in weird places (dishes, how did you wind up in the box of stuff for my bedroom closet?). But most of all I hate that I have to find a whole new hair stylist every time I move. Sometimes it takes forever to find the right person — it took me almost 2 years to find the perfect hair salon in my last city! But somehow I struck gold with Savvy after only a few months of living here.
Savvy Salon is a relaxing, beautiful day spa that is perfect for a day of pampering. I had PJ for my hair, and she did a fantastic job achieving the exact look I was hoping for that day. She took her time and paid attention to all of my concerns and questions, and I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best haircuts (possibly the best!) I’ve ever gotten. Somehow she made my hair look longer and healthier even after cutting off some length, and she cut my hair so that it actually looks good when I wear it curly now. Perfect for the summer months! PJ is a master stylist (I think), so her prices are a little higher than some other stylists, but I wasn’t shocked by the price at all. I’d definitely go back to her. If I’m ever on a small budget and need to cut back on some expenses, I’d ask for an understudy, because their prices are flat out amazing.
I came back to Savvy a few days later for a mani/​pedi using a coupon they sent me. They were accommodating and didn’t care at all that I was using a coupon, which is rare at salons in my experience. My afternoon with Kalissa was very relaxing — I enjoyed some hot tea, some free snacks, and the best pedicure of my life. She did a great job on my manicure and pedicure, and I would definitely go back for another special occasion.
Savvy loses one star for a few reasons: (1) While I think their hair prices are very reasonable, I think their other services are all a little pricey. (2) My pedicure smeared horribly as soon as I got home, even though my toes were allegedly dry enough to leave the salon. (3) I got straight up barraged with emails after my first visit, which made my inbox grumpy.
However, I also have to note that my shellac manicure (CND Desert Rose) is still alive and well after 1 week of playing with dogs, gardening, cooking, cleaning, and crafting with a hot glue gun. That is one awesome manicure!

I had a great experience previously at Savvy so returned for my next visit for a full foil highlight. I called last minute as my normal hair stylist had went in to labor unexpectedly. I was squeezed in with Danielle and told that I would have a time slot of 3 hours for my appointment. I arrived at my appointment and Danielle was still with another client so Pat, the owner, began to section off my hair. The appointment went completely downhill from there. The comments made by Pat were humorous at first but continued and began to rub me the wrong way. She then lead me to Brenda who started to foil my hair. Danielle later joined and the two of them worked on each side of my head. I was worried about this as we all know that hair stylists have unique and different techniques so I was worried it would not turn out evenly. Brenda left shortly after to start with another client and left Danielle to foil by herself. I have a TON of hair so that was difficult for Danielle to foil alone and pick up where Brenda left off. Brenda hadn’t told her exactly how much she did or what formula she used so Danielle had a difficult time trying to follow her pattern. Danielle asked for assistance around 4 times and no one was able to help. This caused my foil to take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to apply. Some pieces had begun to process rapidly while others were still processing so she had to spray water on them to stop the process. I was then placed under 2 different dryers all the while Pat the owner was shuffling her workers around, as well as me, to different workers and in a rude manner. I did not appreciate the way that she treated Danielle and the rude comments that were intended to be helpful tips. I truly felt sorry for Danielle since she is a successful woman who has a Bachelors college degree and had previously held a job at Bank of America and a prestigious job at Carmen and Carmen Salon. She was considered an «understudy» at Savvy since she was not completely trained to Pat’s standards. I find this term to be a little offensive as most people will not necessarily request someone with the term «understudy» under their belt to do their hair. I had had an understudy at my previous appointment named Shelby, so was confident that Danielle was not brand new. Moving along with my appointment, my color processed successfully where I was then moved to a new employee to wash my hair. Around 2 pm Danielle was finally released to take lunch after being on her feet and assisting customers since 8 am that morning. 6 hours without a break or any sort of food in her system to me is plain torture. How do you expect your employees to keep an upbeat and chipper attitude on an empty stomach? Moving on, while I was being shampooed by another employee, I experienced Pat — the owner, accidentally drench another employee when she lost control of her hose attached to the sink. Yet another fuel to add to the fire. I was shuffled again to another employee after my shampoo was applied and rinsed for conditioner application and towel dry. She (I still do not know her name) then brought me to her chair where I asked for a small trim. She seemed disgruntled and annoyed that I would ask for such a thing then turned to Pat to ask if she had «time» to perform this. She agreed to do so but with attitude. She trimmed my ends by simply cutting 1″ off in a straight line. Did not trim my layers or anything else. At the end of the appointment, I was expected to pay $ 45 on top of my foil for the 2 minutes spent on my cut. I was able to get the price down to a partial cut which is $ 20, but still none the less, this should have been included. Danielle returned after her lunch bread, where I am sure she was rushed by Pat, and finished my blow drying and styling. Thank God for her or this appointment would have been the absolute worst experience ever. She stuck with me and used her talent to create a marvelous outcome for my hair. I probably will not return to this salon, but will be seeking Danielle in hopes that she leaves Savvy and finds a salon that will treat her with respect and give her the proper title for the skills that she possesses. My bill at the end ended up being outrageous and far more than I was prepared to spend. I was also a little disgruntled that I had had so many people assisting me that day, I was unsure of who to tip. I felt as though Pat was trying to squeeze in the most appointments for the most money and in turn I had a terrible experience and will likely not be returning. I would have preferred that her staff would have declined to schedule my appointment due to the lack of time or staff and instead recommended a time that would better suit their schedule so that I may have 1 person the entire time who was fully devoted to me and my needs.

Great spa and salon in north area. Owner really gets it and they do a lot to keep their clients loyal. I’m willing to drive a little longer and pay more for a place that can do it all. My only gripe is the pricing on Manicure and pedicures is high.

I desperately needed a haircut and called on the spur of the moment not expecting to get a appointment on the same day. Jaclaan managed to fit me in at the last minute and I can’t say enough good things about my experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming and professional and Laura, my stylist, gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. I felt valued as a client and I will go back soon to make use of their numerous spa services.

only chose one star because it would not except without will never step foot in that place again. was told they would only take 2″ walk out with more than 8″ cut off. would no recommend.

I adore this salon! My mother is on their email list, so she always gets great deals on services here. When I go home to visit, I stop here to have something done. Usually it’s a fantastic massage, but this time I had my hair cut and colored. My hair strays toward strawberry blonde and the ends want to be blonde while the roots really like a dark brown color. I know… it’s a very glamorous look. Well, these girls fixed it. They put a permanent color on the roots and a demi-​permanent color on the rest. My hair usually rejects color too, but this looks really good. I got some fading, but not to the extent that I was dreading. My hair is now a beautiful, even chestnut brown with real dimension. The cut was simple, but looks nice even when just combed and air-​dried. These folks know their stuff and they really want you to be happy about your new look!

I love Savvy. I have been a regular for over 3 years here. I have had a few disappointing experiences, but as a whole I have been very happy here.
The Salon and Spa is very relaxing. I love they have candy, water/​coffee/​tea and small snacks offered. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and calmed.
My disappointments were a cut and color with an understudy who went far from what I wanted. And recently I had an understudy who did not quite understand what I wanted and took off more inches than planned. I gave her another shot and while being friendly and answering questions, she kept pushing for me to cut my hair short and I had already told her I hate my hair short so I stopped seeing her. I also had a manicure and I had an issue with my manicurist smelling so bad of smoke that I just wanted to run away from her. I could smell it when she touched, talked to me, when she moved. It was really hard as a nonsmoker to sit there in that beautiful place with that icky smell!
I recently strayed from seeing Katy, an understudy and went to a different salon and was so disappointed!!! For the money the understudy is such a good deal. I have mostly seen understudies and the service is almost always great that I do not even worry about seeing someone else.
I am most impressed with them not pushing products. They have salaries so if they suggest a product they really believe it is best for you, not because they get a little something extra for it.
I do miss their Super Saturday’s which were so much fun and gave a few bonus points for their program. I am disappointed they changed the program to not include services because I found myself coming in more do to earning those extra points.
Despite the few small issues I have had I continue going back because there have been so many amazing appointments that make the bad appointments not a big deal.

I discovered Savvy Salon & Day Spa through their Groupon in 2011 for a fusion massage. The fusion massage consists of a full body polish plus a 90 minute massage. Amy was my massage therapist, and she was wonderful! She was by far the best massage therapist I’ve been to. I went back to her for another fusion massage and a surrender massage, and they were both great. I also went back to Savvy Salon & Day Spa for a facial, and it was also a good experience. I highly recommend Savvy Salon & Day Spa, and I won’t go anywhere else in the Charlotte area for a massage.

I have been to Savvy Salon several times for different services. I’ve had a manicure and polish and also a shampoo and flatiron to name a few. Both times have been fantastic service by not only the front desk staff but by the stylist themselves. The owner Pat seems to always be on hand to offer advice to the «understudy» stylists or to customers who may need a little guidance. The lobby is bright and clean and has an array of products to temp you. I have also visited the spa area which is very quiet, relaxing and a great place to unwind.
You wouldn’t know from its location and outward appearance but Savvy salon is classy and very professional.
Visit their facebook page and sign up for emails to receive special deals. Just this past weekend they had buy one get one free services! They are also big supporters of the Make a Wish Foundation.

The staff at Savvy Salon are exceptional. I have experienced more than one delightful employee!
The Stylists attend education and are up to date on the latest trends and looks for hair, makeup and overall well being. I am confident that they will get the look right, and teach me how to do my hair when I leave.
I am never disappointed with my Savvy experience!

After my last review I was contacted by the owner who made a concerted effort to turn around my most recent experience of her salon. She provided me with a complimentary wash and blow-​dry and some suggestions for a longer-​term color correction plan. I appreciate that she took my complaint seriously and didn’t dismiss it as a cranky customer. She actively looked for a way to earn back my business and resolve my issues.

LOVE this salon! I always leave satisfied and they will bend over backwards to accommodate your needs.

I am very finicky about my hair so finding a good stylist is a serious matter for me. I moved to NC under a year ago and went to a few salons based on recommendation and was fairly underwhelmed. A little research and asking the right questions led me to Savvy salon where I was given a few stylist names who keep up their education. I have had 2 cuts with PJ and have gotten so many compliments. This is a well kept salon worth the price.
