Online Trading Academy

After «playing» with the markets for 15-​some years and taking numerous courses where you basically take a 3 – 5 day class and you are released with a notebook and a pat on the back, the one thing that differentiates OTA from the rest and sold me on the concept of trading as a career is COMMUNITY. The fact that OTA offers «real» classes in a brick-​and-​mortar setting, that they had a physical presence on an international level, and you are going to be plugged into a community of traders each and every day, as well as have the opportunity for unlimited retakes anywhere in the world, I knew this was a place I could not only take a class from, but someone I could PARTNER with over the course of my new career.
The instructors I have taken/​retaken my four classes (so far!) have been top shelf. The support team in the Extended Learning Track and Mastermind Community are as responsive as some of the best support staff anywhere in any industry. The staff at the Charlotte location are friendly and have been very helpful to me anytime I had a question or needed some additional information.
I sympathize on the one hand with some reviewers saying there is a heavy handed sales pitch. This is, of course, a for-​profit educational institution, and committing to this type of career is not for the faint of heart (hence the 3-​day intro course to let you know what you are getting into).
Admittedly, this education is not cheap. But it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than any other kind of business venture where you will put yourself at risk multiple times over. For $ 376,000 (and having a personal net worth of at least $ 450,000) you can buy into a franchise which will grant you the «privilege» of changing someone else’s oil and MAYBE take home a modest salary. For less than one TENTH of that, you can take the entire SUITE of classes at Online Trading Academy, and make as much money as you want, provided you have the discipline to create a plan, and follow your plan.

I wish I could give them a half-​star. Spent $ 300 to go down to Charlotte for a weekend to learn something about trading. Instead they talked for a day and a half about other classes they offer for thousands of dollars. I left feeling like I had been taken advantage of. Those of you that know me understand that I am not the type of person to go into something with a closed mind. I also enjoy class of just about any kind. But this is a total scam people. Save yourself some time and money and stick to the fundamentals of trading. There is a time and a place for technical analysis, which is what they claim to teach, but this stunk of rat. I then attempted to have my money returned through AMEX. Turns out they told AMEX that I was inattentive and preoccupied with a personal matter and only attended one day. A fabrication in the worst way and truly indicative of their true nature. I turned my phone off and brought only the materials they mentioned. I always give 100% of my attention to a professor. After all, I am the one spending the time and the money. And I showed up for day 2 thinking things would pick up. I left at lunch after the one-​on-​one coaching session that should have been called a one-​on-​one sales pitch. Stay clear from this group. They are predacious.

I have already written one review about Online Trading Academy but it was for the main office where all their course content comes from and since I am heavily involved with their Extended Learning Track (XLT) program, what I wrote before is what that really refers too.
What this review is about is the Charlotte Center where I have taken all my classes with and the people I have dealt with face to face. I have taken most of my classes with one Instructor, though I have taken some class time with a couple of others as well. Justin is the instructor I have had for my trading class, my forex class, and my futures class. The man really knows his business and I rank him up there with the best in the XLT program. Every class I have taken with him, he has demonstrated to me that he knows how to pick turning points in live markets within a few ticks or pennies. I only seen him stopped out one time for a tiny little loss when he was demonstrating how to fine tune an entry in a zone. Proper risk management and position sizing is something he also stresses in his classes so one mistake don’t kill your account. If you get an opportunity in the Charlotte Campus to get a class with Justin, I highly recommend it. We are lucky that he lives local to the center and have access to his knowledge of the markets. As good as he is, he is very humble about his abilities and he errs on the side of caution. He may miss a trade every now and then with no entry, but the ones that hit work extremely well from what I have seen. Justin, you have a lot of fans out here that are your students. Justin is an EXCELLENT instructor and an AWESOME trader.
As far as the center goes, I have found them to be very professional and nice. The guy I have dealt with there has always treaded me fairly. Actually after talking to a student from another center, the people here in Charlotte are one of the best in the network. They have always been more than willing to work with me and I never had any trouble retaking any classes. The Charlotte center ROCKS though I only have personal experience with them here locally.
I know there is some negative stuff floating around here about OTA but that hasn’t been my personal experience. I would say to those that wrote those reviews, COME to CHARLOTTE, I challenge you to take a class here and deal with the folks here. I can’t speak for every center, but the folks in Charlotte will treat you right, the XLT program is amazing, and I have always gotten fast responses from XLT support. I challenge you to find a trading school that is as good as Online Trading Academy.
Here is a video I just found on their website where Sam Seiden is explaining their supply and demand concept. You have to see it work in live markets to really appreciate what they teach. This stuff really works!

was not happy at all with the intense sales pitch for training of several $ 1000’s. never got the info on the am agenda so i left at lunch. Attended Vector Vest and didn’t get a sales pitch at all.
