History

Established in 1987.

With the tremendous population growth experienced by Southern Iredell and the Lake Norman area, Statesville Pool and Spa set its sights on the Cornelius area for expansion, and in 1998, land was purchased on Statesville Road in Cornelius for the construction of a second retail location. In 1999, construction was started and finished on the Cornelius location, to be called Lake Norman Pool & Spa. It was soon realized that it simply made better sense to call the whole company Lake Norman Pool & Spa, so the name of the Statesville store was changed to Lake Norman Pool & Spa also. As with the Statesville store, the Cornelius store was soon recognized as the leader in the area surrounding the eastern side of Lake Norman and points south.

Business Owner

Bob Dooley, the owner and President of Lake Norman Pool & Spa, was born and raised in Statesville, NC. After graduating with a business degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Bob moved to the shores of Lake Norman in Troutman and began a career in sales with the Pitney Bowes Company. After a 3 year stint with this company, Bob accepted a position in 1984 with Pacific Industries, a major manufacturer of in-​ground swimming pool components, as a regional sales manager calling on swimming pool dealers and distributors throughout the Southeast. This early experience allowed him to visit and learn from hundreds of successful pool and spa companies in his territory, which prepared him for the largest undertaking of his life… to start his own company.

Because Bob loved the Lake Norman area and had tired of the extensive travel his position with Pacific Industries required, he researched the area and felt that a professional pool and spa retail and service company was
