The Life Church – Cordova

This church is my favorite by far. Incredibly diverse which is a huge plus! I’ve been so impressed by the culture of the fellowship, passion for Jesus, quality of leadership and heart for the city. Feed the hungry, clothe the needy, serve the broken and live a generous life. 15 years walking with the Lord many of those in full time ministry and I can say they have it together theologically as well. The youth group is fantastic and kids ministry runs smooth, I have 4 kids and they rave about it too!

Amazing church. Powerful passionate worship. Encouraging, funny, pastor. Great loving people. The church is extremely Charitable towards children in poverty by providing meals, school supples, etc…

I moved cities because of The Life Church. If that’s not worthy of 5 stars, then I don’t know what is! So glad to be a part of the family!
Worship is genuine, the messages are inspiring and motivating, the volunteers are friendly, and Kids Life is packed with fun and great messages designed for every age group from 6 weeks old through 5^th grade. Middle School /​High school have a great service on Wednesday nights at 7pm in Cordova and Collierville (currently.)
Every day this church is doing something to further God’s love and build His Kingdom in practical ways through the Memphis Dream Center which includes Generous House (free food and clothing pantry), Feed Memphis (feeding thousands of children yearly), Youth Leadership Network (focuses on mentoring /​tutoring) and several other areas.
Come visit! You won’t regret it!

If your looking for a church that is set apart from most traditional churches — a place where worship is freeing, messages are applicable, where the people are multicultural, the environment is excellence-​driven and Jesus is the center of it all — you will feel at home at The Life Church.
What I enjoy most about The Life Church is that although there are many campuses (Coillervile, Cordova, East Memphis, Jackson and Santiago, Chile!) it all acts as one big church connected through each campus. Messages are shared to all campuses and the themes and designs are corresponding.
No matter what your ‘denomination’ background is, the life church’s focus is on the Word of God and the relevance of scriptures to our day-​to-​day life!
The church’s focus belief is in Jesus Christ as the savior of the world. They encourage new attendees to volunteer for positions in different areas in (and outside) the church. Some great inner city serves are on Fridays where they go to the inner city schools and provide weekend food for each child’s family. They also have a ministry called ‘downtown friends’ for the homeless and other ministries for prisoners in Memphis jails and after-​school tutoring for elementary schools. In the church they have a huge heart for the ‘next generation’ and opportunities to serve in the church on weekends and youth groups. Anywhere from the media team behind a booth to helping park cars or welcoming guests, it is all volunteers serving. Their motto is ‘SERVE LIKE CRAZY’
Overall if you are looking for a less-​traditional, multicultural, free worshipping, inspiring church where you can hear applicable messages, get involved serving alongside others and do life together: this is the place for YOU.

This place is amazing! We have been at The Life Chufch for a little bit now and one of my favorite things is their Kids Life. They take such great care of the kids and it seems like they really reach them where they are. You see tons of kids even active around the church. That says a lot. Really glad we found this place and glad my kids are here.

They shouldn’t call it Life Church, they need to call it Your Life Connection! The church is amazing for so many reasons. Great at making you feel accepted and extremely helpful in any area, be it emotional needs or physical needs. I personally have witnessed situations outside of church when something happened, Life Church family comes together to help. It is a powerful connection. We went off road and in minutes we had help coming from Jackson, and our home church is in Cordova!

This is an amazing place because I can be who I am, and yet be challenged to be all I can be. The atmosphere is friendly and full of life. Love that they have subs and use them! :-) I also love that The Life Church feeds around 3,000 kids each week. If you are looking for a perfect church then don’t come but if you are looking for a place where you can be yourself def check it out.

My family and I have been a part of this church for 13 years. I could write pages of great things, but I’ll keep it short. Being close to those in leadership, I can confidently say that everyone from the top down is completely genuine, and extremely passionate about doing whatever it takes to reach people distant from God. I love that we are such a diverse church, there is no majority race, and truly EVERYONE is welcome. We love people and believe in a life-​giving atmosphere and culture. We don’t want people to leave feeling beat up, depressed, or worse than when they came in — it’s the opposite! We do everything we can to provide an environment where God’s presence can fill the hearts of everyone who attends. We have a serving and leadership culture — part of our vision statement is to develop leaders. There is truly nothing more fulfilling and inspiring than seeing people enter without hope and without life and leave with purpose and a new, fresh relationship with God.

The Life Church is creative, encouraging, and has a huge heart for God. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave, there are people there who want to GENUINELY love on you and your family. In today’s world, the word «church» gets a bad reputation. Church is seen as money-​hungry. Church is seen as full of hypocrites and people who are only Christians on Sunday mornings. At Life, the word church is redefined. Here you will find people who are passionate about God. They are passionate beyond the single Sunday morning service. I was drawn to Life because as a whole, this church has a heart for the hurting. The members here are about serving others not only in the church, but throughout our city, and even other countries. There is not a single church I have been to with the heart for Outreach that this one has. If you are hesitant to try this church, then you should try checking the services out online or on T. V…but there is nothing like the real thing!

This is my church. I want to say up front I am not a staff member nor do I work for the church in any paid capacity. I just love my church! I am sorry for anyone who has had a bad experience here, but I have never been a part of a more loving and open congregation of people. Multicultural, outreach oriented, and friendly, the life church is awesome!
The life church is a truly multicultural and multi-​ethnic church. We do not see or treat people based on the color of their skin or their heritage but rather as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our leadership team is committed to reaching our city, and we put our words to action every week with outreaches in areas that need it most.
If you want to experience life shared with others, you can find that at the Life Church. We have a multitude of small groups, everything from connect groups for the purpose of fellowship and fun to ministry based groups where we can learn together and grow in our spiritual journey. We have lunch groups every month where you can eat and fellowship, making new friends.
Our pastoral staff, most notably our Lead Pastor John Siebeling, preaches a powerful word every weekend. We also bring in special speakers regularly. The preaching at Life Church is life giving, challenging, and is a message of hope, renewal, and growth for your life and that of your family.
We are a next generation focused church, because they are the future. We have extensive Kids Life and Axis (youth) programs, with tons of fun stuff going on all the time. We have a weekly Wednesday night Axis youth program in two locations in Memphis, with hundreds of young people in attendance every week. We host our own summer camp (Axis Youth Conference), and churches from several states participate.
We are an outreach focused church, both home and abroad. We opened up a campus in Durban, South Africa, and do multiple mission trips a year to locations as diverse as Haiti, Africa, and Europe. Here in Memphis we have partnered with the mayor’s office and we feed 1800 children every week who would otherwise not have food on the weekends. We also have a «generous house» and «generous pantry» where people can get food and clothing and other goods. We are committed to helping people however we can.
Our church is not closed off, we maintain relationships with other churches and believe it is together that we can reach this city and this nation. We host a Make Room conference every year for pastors and church leaders that has hundreds of participants from all over the United States.
As for your part to play, we have plenty of opportunities to serve and make church happen for our members. There is always something to do, and I have found my life hugely enriched by plugging in and being a part of something that is really making a difference in our city.
This review is getting long, so let me conclude with this: I found home at Life Church, come check us out and maybe you will too. We have a Cordova campus on Germantown Parkway with two Saturday night services (5:30 and 7:00 pm) and three Sunday services (8:30, 10am, and 12 noon) in addition to a Collierville Campus with two services on Sunday (9 and 11am). Come out and see us, I think you will be glad you did.
EDIT: I just have to say one more thing after re-​reading one of the other reviews. We never have three offerings during a service. We normally just have one, but we also have a yearly initiative that is used to fund the special outreaches and projects that are making such a difference in our city. Once a month we have a special second offering just for that purpose. Truly, though, our church doesn’t care about your money. If you choose not to give, we will continue doing God’s work. We just preach about tithing because we believe it is a biblical principle that will bless your life.

Started going to this church a year or so ago maybe a little more. Never became a regular member but I did visit very often. Lots of times weeks in a row. I still go there occasionally when we have no where else to go. We are searching for a church home. I will start by explaining the worship services. They have 3 on Sunday mornings. All very casual. They have a band with multiple singers on stage and lot of people in the back singing and moving. This place can get down and has lots of soul. They dim the lights and it is loud. Sometime they put smoke out and have lights going all around. This is a church for young people… all the way. And that is what it mostly is. They play lots of music that you might here on K-​Love. The music is great. Now that we got that out of the way I will explain the preaching. The preacher, ‘pastor john siebling’ does an excellent job. He really breaks things down in a way young people can easilly relate. He is laid back and cool type of guy. Here is the problems are. A very trusted bible souce of mine is Hank Hannegraaff. Hank is a very unbiased and very fair guy. He knows the truth. He even tells other christians how it is when they are wrong. Hank is good. I have heard talks by Hank about prosperity preaching before and I can see this happening at the life church which brings me to my next point. The life church preaches on tithing it seems like every 3 weeks. They are always preaching about tithing and how if you tithe than the Lord will open the flood gates of blessing to you. This is true because the Lorde say he will. But this is where I see the prosperity preaching coming in. The life church REALLY stresses the fact that uou need to tith and if you do so you will be blessed for doing so. That is prosperity preaching. The life church sometimes takes up 3, thats right THREE types of offerings per service stressing that each is so important and they are always encourging you to give more than you normally give. They have even set up kiosk throughout the church where you can go up and swipe your credit card and donate hassle free. This seems to me they are really pushing the money issue. It really does. Next issue. Child care. The child care is great. They have machine where you can go up to and scan a little key chain card like you might get at a kroger or a pet co. Once you scan your card you hit the touch screen and select your child and it prints out a ticket. The ticket which is really a sticker had two sides. one side has a number and goes on your childs shirt and has their name on it. You keep the other side and at any point during the service you are needed they flash your kids number on screen and you match it with yours. If it is your kid than they need you. you get the point. THIS is where the problems is. If you are 1 – 2 minutes late for service, im not kidding you, 1 – 2 minutes late. They really stress the fact that they dont want your child going in after class starts because it disrupts the class. No joke. They will tell you they think it is best not to go in. And you can forget about taking your child out of class early. Even if it is an emergency. Not kidding. They have stood in the door way blocking it. You just about have to threaten to call the police. PEOPLE READING THIS I AM NOT KIDDING. This is a very modern church for yound people. During service they do that little meet and greet thing where you shake someones hand next to you or smile at somone. This is fune but life church does this two or three times during a service. Dont leave service early because the last time some people got up to leave early during a prayer becuase my God almighty its packed in there and they wanted to beat the rush. NOT KIDDING in the middle of the prayer the paster said «now dont leave dont leave sit back down this is a prayer» Letys stay and pray basically calling them out. I hate to dog this place out but If you think you can put up with these issues and some that I have not mentioned than this place is for you. Also the church stresses how they are so multicultural but you only see a little bit of that. Yes you have all the different races talking to eachother but for the most part irs like any place that has lots of races. The majority of this races goes to this service and this race that one and everyone kind of sticks tho their own. Lots of fake people. Its not as easy to reach out and meet people like they make it seem. I am glad I founf this so I could post my experiences and you can take it for what it is.
