Gateway Tire & Service Center

Tried to tell me I needed a $ 500.00 + motor mount job while there for my «free» oil change. They were not aware that my regular HONEST mechanic had done this already for $ 300.00 and a little change. BUYER BEWARE!!!

This place is pretty good. The mechanics knew more than the mechanics around the area. When my check engine light came on, they were the only ones who knew what it was.
They did a good diagnostic, and after I asked a couple questions, they made a few more safety suggestions. They cost more than most other places because they only use quality parts, not the cheap ones.
Sadly, they don’t accept warranty for tires. I had to pay thousands of dollars in Cash/​Credit.

I will admit I go here solely for convenience! They are located next to my job so I can walk to drop off and pick up.
I always get my oil changed here and tire work done. They always call me before doing any work to get approval and call me when it’s complete. The service is always done within a few hours of drop off and the employees there are always covetous and professional.
Unfortunately I cannot rate on price point because I don’t have anything to compare to. And I have a newer model vehicle so I don’t have any issues.

Excellent service always! The manager, along with his staff, are extremely helpful and do their job in a timely manner. I have had a great experience every time I take my car here. I strongly recommend this location.

Had I reviewed this place ~5 years ago I would’ve given them five stars, but boy have things changed. I don’t know if there’s been a change in management or what, but things have gone really downhill.
Any time I go to them for something, there always ends up being more wrong with the car than was originally stated, so if they quoted me $ 200 for the repairs, at the end it’s $ 300. If I have a flat tire it can never be patched now, suddenly I always need a new tire.
Recently I finally bit the bullet and got new tires for my car and the amount they quoted me was insane… and the wrong size tire, apparently! Pretty scary. I drove up the road to Express Oil and it turned out I was being quoted for too big of a tire. Express Oil ended up being cheaper for Goodyear brand tires versus Gateway offering me no-​name tires.
From now on, I’ll just stick to Express Oil for everything.

These guys are pretty nice and their service is good, but the work they do is riddled with incompetence and everybody I know who used them has a horror story.

I’ve been going here for years. Everything with the place was passable enough, (the mediocre service, and mostly empty shell customer service were mitigated by the shop’s proximity to my office) until today.
This morning, I dropped my Jeep for an oil change and left. About 5 minutes later, I phoned and requested that they use 10W30, as this is the recommended type of oil for the make and model of my Jeep.
The person over the phone (Jeff) told me that they would.
I went to pick it up, paid, and was given a receipt.
Uh oh… The receipt showed that a different type of oil (5W30) was used.
I pointed this out to the clerk, which resulted in the not at all prompt appearance of Jeff, the person to whom I’d made the request for 10w30 initially.
Instead of apologizing for the oversight and correcting the mistake, he told me that there was no difference between the two oil types.
That’s not true. There are differences. The question is whether or not there are any pertinent differences. The efforts of all googling up to this point suggest there are not.
The problem is that Jeff treated me as if my request hadn’t been made in the first place.
When I told him I’d not be back, he smiled and said, «Not a problem, sir!».
On second thought, I’d better get outside and check my oil. There’s no telling what just happened…

My battery when out while picking my son up from summer school.
I got towed to a different place but they couldn’t take me. Called up Gateway and they said they could look at the car right away.
The wait was short but my toddler LOVED their popcorn machine and happily snacked away while the car was fixed.
I was very happy with the speed and quality of their service.

My daughter’s 2004 Honda had an unknown problem with her manuel transmission and we had the car towed to Gateway Tire. Gateway Tire attempted to take advantage of our daughter by grossly mis-​diagnosing her transmission problem. Gateway quoted $ 1400 in repair costs. We were told the car needed a new slave cylinder and clutch kit with a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of also needing a fly wheel. Gateway Tire’s customer service representative could not answer even basic questions about the diagnosis and refused access to the mechanic for more information. The customer service representative told us the mechanic would be offended by having to explain his diagnosis. We did not feel comfortable doing business with Gateway and had the car towed to Wolfchase Honda. The final bill from Wolfchase Honda to fix the problem was $ 75 to bleed air out of the clutch line. Thank you Wolfchase Honda for saving our daughter $ 1325!
