Marilyn Scavo is a professional photographer and make-​up artist with more

than 15 years of photography experience and 8 years of experience teaching

photography and Photoshop. Marilyn has worked independently as a professional photographer focusing on Pregnancy & Newborns, Children & Families, Lingerie & Boudoir, Models & Headshots, as well as Corporate & Landscape Photography. Marilyn has also worked for a nation wide photography company hiring and training photographers.

Carlos Osorio is a professional wedding photographer since 1989 and Bride’s Choice Award 2010 Winner. Carlos owns and operates Miami Photo Lab located next to the studio, working alongside, training and printing for some of the best photographers in the industry since 1993.

I bought a DSLR and it didn’t take long for me to realize I either needed to read or take some classes to actually start taking advantage of the functions available (other than auto modes). Like many of us, I also bought the Groupon and immediately registered for the beginners class. It was three hours long and I learned so much I registered for three more classes (they offer a bundle price). There’s probably a lot more to learn but those 10 – 12 hours gave me a head start for me to start exploring my camera. Classes were pretty small, between 3 and 6 people each. My favorite one was going to Ocean Dr. and learning about taking pictures at night. It was so worth it. If you want to learn more about photography, do this. Thanks Carlos!!!

this was possibly one of the best gifts i have ever given!!!
for my fiancé’s birthday i got us some groupon deals to take a 2 hour night photography class walking on ocean drive!
we just got a new canon camera for our honeymoon and are still learning how to use it.
he is way more advanced than me bc he takes the time to play with it and test out different features whereas i stick with auto (even if i get a crappy shot)
this class was great. we met on ocean and 15th and walked down a few blocks and even onto the actual sand to take real dark night time pics and learn some cool tricks with lighting and flash.
the husband and wife team really know their stuff and teach you in a fun laid back way. they are patient in explaining and take the time to go around to each student and make sure they are using the correct setting.
my bf and i were talking about going back and taking the beginner course (kinda working backwards) bc we really enjoyed it so much!

I decided to get a groupon for this photoworkshop & decided to do it back in late April or early May. Now that I decided to start Unilocaling, Marilyn Scavo & Carlos Osorio’s workshops should get the credit they deserve.
I took the Beginners I: Break Out of Auto Mode and the class was quite informative. I’ve always loved photography and decided to make my first big camera purchase because my nephew was soon to arrive & I did not want to miss a moment!
Both instructors were very helpful & cleared any misconceptions you might have had of photography.
Yes, it’s basic so don’t think you’ll be walking out as a pro because I even found myself going back to the camera and playing with it regularly to get the hang of it. Until now, I can imagine there a million and one things I could do that I am not doing but at least the pictures I want are coming out the way I need them to thanks to them!
If you have the extra time & an SLR camera handy, don’t hesitate!

I took the beginner’s class and it was great. Marilyn and Carlos are awesome instructors. I wish I had taken this class a long time ago, because I’ve been missing out on a whole other world with my photos. I liked this class so much, I signed up for three more!

I’ve always wanted to learn about photography. I find everything about photography fascinating, so it was no hard decision for me to take the beginners class. The class was extremely informative and the instructor was really helpful. If you’re looking to learn a little more on what photography is all about, I definitely recommend taking this class.
