Nic del Mar

This is a review for the experience I had online with them, as I live in Michigan, so visiting their Miami shop is a bit more difficult for me, lol! Anyways, the overall experience was very good! They took a few days to initially respond to an email I had sent, but once they got to responding, they were quick in communicating back and forth with me about a few questions I had. I ended up ordering a suit online, and it arrived two days after I had ordered, which is just fantastic! I have ordered from plenty of high-​end online swimwear shops (ishine365, luxecartel, cacique boutique, etc) and most of them advertise shipping out the same day as you purchase, as long as it is before a certain time. Well, I find that some of these places will print out the shipping notice and give you the tracking number, but they don’t actually send it out until a day or two later, so I feel like their advertising is a bit of a fib! Anyways, great experience with Nic Del Mar. I hope to one day visit their shop in person!

Despite the fact that I had no luck in finding a swimsuit here the other day due to my own difficult fit (although I did come very close!), I had such a positive experience that I just had to share it with my fellow Unilocalers.
Upon walking in, I immediately felt comfortable — the polished dark wood floors and laid-​back music immediately put me at ease. The merchandise was styled, easily accessible, and well-​organized. Right off the bat, I saw several cute suits from the likes of Mara Hoffman that I couldn’t wait to try on!
Lyanne, one-​half of the two-​sister duo which owns Nic del Mar, was very welcoming. She listened to what I was shopping for, and pulled nearly a dozen bikinis for me to try (as well as getting me out of my comfort zone and encouraging me to try a super cute Shoshanna one piece). She was so sweet that I felt more like I was shopping with a knowledgeable girlfriend than alone in a high-​end swimwear boutique — she definitely knew her product and her market, and she was never pushy. I also give high points for their dressing rooms: First, they gave proper lighting that is bright enough to see well and give you an accurate picture, but not so bright that it’s painful to shop for bikinis (I’m looking at you, Nordstrom). Second, the mirror is unobstructed and large enough to see your entire reflection, as well as hung at the appropriate angle — not a skinny mirror, just normal and not horrifically unflattering (ahem, Nordstrom). Let’s be honest, no woman really wants to see her every flaw magnified and enlarged in fluorescent lighting…
As I said, this time around I didn’t have any luck finding a suit there — larger tops can be extremely difficult in cute suits. As also previously stated though, I did come VERY close, so busty gals need not stay away! Especially since they also have a great selection of cute cover-​ups and other cotton-​y goods.
Side note: Unilocalers who check in at Nic del Mar will be treated to a pleasant surprise ;)
Lyanne also told me about some of the lines that she has coming in for spring and summer that might be a better fit for me, and encouraged me to leave my contact information in their guest book so that she could let me know when they got new merchandise to better suit my needs.
There’s also have an excellent online store if you don’t feel like making the trip. All in all, I would definitely recommend Nic del Mar to anyone looking for a great swimsuit!

I recently went in for a Vix bikini and was really happy leaving with a few other goodies! Love the girls working, and best of all, the merchandise! Well priced and different than what other stores carry.

I first met Jeannette and Lyanne at a charity shopping event in the Coco Plum Woman’s Club. I was working for another local business and I couldn’t help but notice all the attention that their little corner was getting. The dresses and tunics they had brought with them were absolutely beautiful!
I couldn’t resist, so I went up and started chatting with them. The sisters are super charming, and very sweet. They told me about how they got their business started, apparently after traveling extensively through the Caribbean, they noticed the lack of stores that sold resort and beach couture, so they decided to start importing and selling it themselves. I met them when they were just doing small shows here and there, and today, after very much deserved recognition, they run an amazing on-​line boutique!
When I was looking through the items, I noticed this beautiful long dress, but it was an XS and I thought to myself «there’s not way in hell I’m fitting into this». Lynne encouraged me to try it on regardless, she assured me that it was going to look beautiful on me, and lo and behold it did. In other occasions though, they’ve known when to recommend larger sizes because the item ran too small.
This is what I love about them, they know how insecure women can be so they’re super personable and helpful and really want you to look and feel your best. When I can’t make it to one of their shows, I shoot them an email and they welcome me into their apartment, where they have the latest styles, and its truly one of the best experiences ever, super comfortable, one-​on-​one shopping… there’s no better customer service!
Trust me when I say I’m definitely not a girly-​girl, but when it comes to Nic del Mar, I allow myself to be. I thought about reviewing them because I was looking for something to wear to the Unilocal Spice event at the Mandarin. So ladies if you are looking for something as well check them out, I know they are doing an event this Thursday at the Parrot Jungle, so if you work or happen to be in the area stop by, you wont regret it.
