GableStage, one of South Florida’s leading theatres, is located in the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.

History

Established in 1979.

For twelve seasons, GableStage has been at the cutting edge of theatre in South Florida, striving to present the most vital works of contemporary playwrights worldwide, and has maintained a tradition of bringing plays to South Florida directly from successful Broadway and off-​Broadway runs – as exemplified in our 2009 – 2010 Season of Six Southeastern Premieres.

We have amassed 148 Carbonell Award Nominations with 38 wins, including either Best Production or Best Musical Production every year since 2004, most recently for the 2008 – 2009 Season’s acclaimed ADDING MACHINE. This record of success is the continuation of a legacy stretching back to 1979, when GableStage was founded, under the name of the Florida Shakespeare Theatre.
