Fernandez-Carol Alvaro DDS

I normally don’t write reviews nor like to read them, as it’s someone’s opinion on what they perceive. Perception is tricky and I’ve learned that every situation can be seen differently depending on how you perceived it. Anyways, after reading other reviews on Dr. Alvaro Fernandez-​Carol, I felt I needed to post a review based on my experience in his office.
I was referred to Dr. Fernandez-​Carol by a colleague. I hesitated on making an appointment since the distance from his office is so great from my home (I live in Homestead). Though my toothache was so painful, I made the appointment and gave it a try. They were able to see me right away, I am glad I made the call.
From the first conversation with Esmi, in the front desk, to the assistants, hygienist, and Doctor, the staff was welcoming, patient, sweet, and most importantly, they treated me like family! It’s been exactly a year since my first visit and I have recommended Dr. Fernandez-​Carol and his team to everyone I know. Their attention to detail and dedication to making you feel at home is stupendous.
I now visit their office every 3 weeks for their orthodontics services (which is amazing!!!) and there isn’t one appointment that I don’t walk out without crying from how much I have laughed. Dr. Fernandez-​Carol and his team are dedicated to providing a stress free service. They take the time to know me, my family and my concerns. They have educated me on proper care and always take their time to answer ALL my questions and concerns. When I asked about their orthodontics program, six month smiles, my first concern was the cost. Yes, it is an expensive treatment but Esmi was quick to advice me on various forms of dental insurance and financing services such as Care Credit. I left that day with a plan and was able to afford all my treatments thanks to the advice I received.
I wish all my health care physicians were as passionate, efficient, and caring towards their patients as Dr. Fernandez-​Carol. The Dr and his team make it a joy to be there and put to shame all my other physicians. I thank them everyday for their services because they truly are wonderful people that are great at what they do. So, give him and his team a try and see for yourself.

Please don’t go here if you don’t want to get ripped off. I had two wisdom teeth removed and the receptionist told me I had to pay for some pad that goes in the socket. I asked if the insurance covered it and she said «not always». I paid it, and later found out she never even tried to bill the insurance for it.
The procedure went okay and the doc put stitches. The next week I had them out. Everything went well.
I was scheduled to have the other two out and I called one full week in advance to ask if I could postpone it and I get a lecture about how it costs money to plan the surgery and how she’s gonna have to take a deposit. I told her forget it, I wasn’t coming back.
Went to another surgeon in Miami Beach. He numbed up my mouth, I waited 15 minutes, he pulled the other two out in under 5 minutes, put some gauze in there and I walked out the door. It was cheaper for the extractions and I didn’t try to get me to pay for any extra crap like this woman at Fernandez-Carol’s office.
It’s been about 10 days and it’s all healed up, no pain. No stitches or pad in the socket or anything.
The sad part is, Docter Fernandez-​Carol is really a nice guy, same to be said about the hygienists. The problem is the woman behind the counter. Because of her I will never go back.
Oh and they spam your mail and with text messages that don’t give you the option to unsubscribe.
It’s a rip off, plain and simple.
Solution? Don’t go there!
