Bigfoot PCS

Having a desire to have a Magic The Gathering game from 1997 set up to run on a modern Windows 7 operating system, I called up Bigfoot to see if they could help. The man who answered the phone handed it off to their software person whose name is James. I let him know what I would like done and he figured it would be done in an hour at most.
Uh-​uh. Trying to get the CD-​ROM going proved impossible as some strange error kept the game from setting up. That led to trying some downloads. None of them were going anywhere. However James had to move along after our scheduled hour to another appointment with a promise to reappear.
Now remember folks, dealing with computers can be worse than handling 2 year olds having tantrums! This particular game is a tough nut to crack when trying to make it work on a modern machine. If you could have seen James going through screens and menus, reading and clicking rapidly, you would have thought you were watching Data from Star Trek The Next Generation at work. He has serious chops but this was a serious piece of work to deal with!
James came back for a second swing of the bat. No luck. Once again he had to head out but we scheduled a return to see if the third time was the charm. In the end it was but it took every bit of his skillset to bring the ancient in computer terms game to life and another hour plus of work.
Despite all the time he put in and having to make three house calls he only charged me for one hour of shop time, which Bigfoot charges a very reasonable $ 45 an hour for. Since he fixed the problem with a downloaded version of the game, patches and manual, I gave him the CD-​ROM version which also had a pristine manual and a very nice box so he could in turn sell it to make up for all his extra work.
He had never before handled setting up a really old game on a modern system, which is akin to mating elephants and herding cats. However with all his experience he was able to come up with the solution eventually. Anyone else having software problems probably won’t stretch him as far as this deal did so you can call James at Bigfoot and figure you have the equivalent of a Superman fighting the beasties inside the digital conundrums you are facing.
Besides, James is a pretty cool guy in his own right :-)
