Bayside Inn & Marina

Great place, clean rooms, friendly staff… Could use some more parking … Nice little beach, certainly will return.

If I could go lower than 1 star, I would. I completely understand all the comments about the staff being rude! They learned from their night time manager. When we reported finding a dead bed bug on the box spring, Jennifer was more concerned with being awakened at 11pm than our comfort or the cleanliness of the room. She refused to offer us another room. I suppose she was afraid of what we might find. Then she proceeded to yell at us across the parking lot. Can she even spell guest service? We were left in a lurch after 5−½ hours on the road. Certainly not the way we had planned to start our vacation. Luckily a newly remodeled room was available at the nearby Holiday Inn Express. Sweat dreams or nightmares, depending on what might be lurking in your room.

For the price, a decent enough stay. We stayed in one of the extra rooms attached to a cottage and had a gorgeous view. Amenities were standard — coffee pot, mini-​fridge, microwave, cable tv. There was a humidifier running in the room, which was nice. The Wifi was spotty — at best.

Very nice place. Clean and quiet. Super maintenance. When I booked online I was nervous, but upon arrival was pleasantly surprised. Everyone we meet was kind and helpful. The lake is absolutely beautiful.

This in is about 10 minutes north of Cooperstown on Route 80. We were not sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The inn was very clean and had homey appointments. They had a game room with a pool table. I also love locations that have a fridge for healthy snacks and water. The beds were quite soft a bit much for my achy bones but quite comfy if you like that. Overall a great stay.

This was a last-​minute booking. We were passing through Cooperstown and, as luck would have it, it was Hall of Fame Induction weekend, so finding anything decent for under $ 200 a night was a real challenge.
Bayside Inn and Marina was a decent stay. We got in very late and they left the key for us on the counter, which was nice. The room was fairly clean though definitely out of date with old carpeting and furniture. Notably, someone’s sleeping mask was on the floor next to the bed. I’m pretty easy but my companion was not crazy about this room.
Our room faced the parking lot but still allowed some view of the lake. Book in advance to get prime real estate.
And, even though it was high season, paying upwards of $ 150 for this room (closer to $ 200 with all the fees and taxes) without even a comp breakfast was definitely outside what I consider reasonable.

We recently stayed in one of the Bayside cottages and I couldn’t help feeling gouged paying prices that far outweighed the quality of the unit we rented (L). Granted this was induction week, where folks in town charge up to $ 40 to obtain a parking spot on their lawn. Even so, I would not pay much more than $ 150/​nite for this unit.
The rooms are tiny, all 3 have double beds that are very poor quality. The pillows are lumpy and hard. The curtains, towels, blankets, bedspreads are all old, different colors/​stripes and in bad shape. The curtains especially seemed really dirty and had holes in some of them. I couldn’t tell you the age of the carpeting, but it did not seem very clean either. The bathroom (which can only fit 1 person, unless someone is standing in the shower) has no wall outlet. If you want to plug in a curling iron or razor, there is one «jerry rigged» plug coming off the side of the old light fixture which is directly above the sink (is this even code?) Mind you, you need to be tall to reach this.
Other things to note, the cell and wifi here is very spotty. I couldn’t access any phone messages until we drove into town. The work out room is small with a few old machines and is not welcoming. The street that this complex is located on is very busy and narrow, so walking here wouldn’t be recommended. As far as swimming, there is a smallish roped off area for really little kids (a foot or two deep) with a muddy beach. It is challenging for older kids or adults to swim here, unless you rent a kayak and jump off of it once you get past the dense lilly pads to one side of the small boat marina or the sharp rocks and tall grasses growing up from the bottom on the other side.
The best part (and Im being generous here) is the pretty view from the beach. Unfortunately even this is marred by 10+ unfriendly signs in bold cap letters telling folks not to walk on the docks, or go near the boats on said docks or you will be prosecuted etc, etc.
We only encountered the staff once daily when they came by to dole out one roll of toilet paper and two new trash bags. Im not sure what the point of this was. An ample supply of both should have been in the cottage at the start of the week. It felt like we were staying at a camp ground, not an expensive cottage. The young staff did seem very friendly and this was pretty much our only encounter, as there was no daily maid service.
The added insult upon check out was having to wash, dry and put away our own dishes, haul the trash up the hill to the dumpsters and strip the beds.
What would have made this stay worth it? ½ the price, or at least offer daily maid service, and fix all of the problems above, with a fresh interior coat of paint too.
To give you an idea, we spent the following week at a gorgeous one bedroom condo, with a pullout in mid town Manhattan, with beautiful views for roughly the same price. They provided ample toilet paper, towels, trash bags etc and we had a washer and dryer. We felt mutual respect and appreciation towards the owner and had a lovely stay.

We stayed here for a weekend with friends in a couple of the cottages. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Jennifer. This place is not the Ritz but it was perfect for our needs and the setting could not be beat. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable place that accommodates a group and has a a great view and staff, this is it.

Stayed here in a cottage for a couple nights for a visit to Cooperstown with my parents this weekend. We enjoyed it very much. Once you get out of the busy season, it’s an amazing value — we had two small bedrooms, full kitchen and huge screened in porch with a full lake view for under $ 200/​night.
The kitchen supplies (pots/​pans/​silverware etc) could stand to be replaced and a garbage disposal would’ve been nice, but I was just happy to be able to cook. Everything was super clean. Cute and quiet property that was nice to come back to after tourist-​ing around each day.

Very nice hotel with a friendly staff! Free kayak and canoe rentals were a great plus!

We had a wonderful visit here after our visit to Cooperstown. The room was clean, they were very accommodating and pleasantly helpful. The room wasn’t lavish but had everything we could want. We had never stayed here before, but would definitely return and recommend to our friends. We walked down to the small beach and marina the next morning and it was gorgeous.

I don’t know how someone could give this place a bad review? If you want a ritzy place that is going to cater to your every waking need then yes this is not the place for you. But if you just need a nice place to stay and want to stay at a clean and friendly motel surrounded by gorgeous scenery then you will love it here. My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for a couple nights on our visit to Cooperstown. Its no more than a 10 min drive to the town. We were pleasantly surprised by this adorable motel.
The room was not outdated. It had a fridge, coffee pot, flat screen HD tv and cable and wifi. It had a balcony with a little table and chair set up, clean bedding and towels and a hair dryer in the bathroom.
The only thing bad I really have to say was the beds were a bit stiff but nothing that made us uncomfortable.
From the balcony I was blown away by the view. It wasn’t top notch but how could you say what you saw wasn’t beautiful, peaceful and serene? It is just a short walk to the lake and you can rent kayaks and canoes.
The staff was great, super friendly, made sure we were taken care of for sure.
There was a game room and fitness center but we didn’t really bother too much because we were busy doing other things in town so I can’t rate those things.
Our experience was great here and we can’t wait to go back.

The room décor was very dated, the queen size bed was only accessible from one side because it was pushed up against the wall. The bedding was scratchy. The bedside lamp was defective and shorted out. Checkout is at 10 AM. Staff was not very friendly.
The place was very clean and there was a small coffee pot in the room.

Note to families in town for Cooperstown Dreamspark: The Bayside Inn and Marina does NOT welcome baseball families!!!
This place has pluses and minuses, with the latter far outweighing the former. It’s fairly clean but the accommodations aren’t quite what are represented on the website. There is a workout room, but the equipment is rickety. It’s lakefront, but you don’t have access to the dock, so you can’t rent a boat or fish. For that matter, you can’t really even swim in the lake!
Overall, the amenities listed on the web site (game room!) suggest that this is a family-​friendly place, and that may be true – if you’ve got a family of seniors!
The owners are dour and mistrusting of their guests. The rule book they serve up is as hefty as War and Peace. There were so many restrictions on our stay I almost forgot that I paid $ 1400/​week to stay here! The final kick in the pants was the requirement that guests strip the beds and take all the sheets and Towels to the laundry room and gather the garbage and take it down to the dumpster themselves.

I had a great vacation here with 2 friends. Everything about the stay and hotel was perfect; we want to come back next year and I would recommend this place to anyone. Would be fun with kids too!

I absolutely adored it here! The Bayside has three different lodging options: inn, motel and cottages. We chose the inn. and it was well worth it. The room was clean and comfy. Tea and coffee are provided in the morning. The Bayside offers soda and snack machines, a game room with a decent amount of arcade games, a pool table and juke box and a lounge room complete with board games and a television. There is a deck where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. They also offer canoes and kayaks. They are free for the first hour, and ten dollars an hour after that. There is also a spot roped off in the lake to swim. I would recommend the Bayside to anyone who is visiting Cooperstown. We were about ten minutes away from the Baseball Hall of Fame, and this was the cheapest lodging I found around town. I can’t wait to visit again!

Awesome place! Went for the induction ceremony for the Baseball Hall of Fame and stayed here. Great staff-couldn’t be more nicer. Very homey feel to the hotel and has a great nature walk. Also was far enough to Cooperstown to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town but close enough to be around the town. I would recommend to everyone!
