The Abbey at Conroe

DO NOT LIVE HERE. We moved here in Feb. 2015. We had to make a quick decision on a place because we were moving for my husbands job and we just had a baby. The staff was super helpful and really helped us out, in the beginning. They had just done a bunch of renovations so we were the first to live in this place.
WORST RENOVATION JOB I HAVE EVER SEEN. It was extremely sloppy work. Not only are our floors uneven, there is a giant crack in the middle of our balcony. We never go out there because we are afraid it isn’t sturdy.
MY BIGGEST ISSUE: we have a leak by our balcony door. When it rains, water gets through and floods the floor. We told them about it as soon as we noticed which was as soon as we moved in. They came about TWO MONTHS LATER and put cocking over the leak and repainted. Of course this was now peak rainy season so what happened? It immediately started leaking again. So we called again. Took them a month to come by and they said they had to talk to contractors. Okay cool. That was like June. We never heard back. Every month when we turned in our rent, we told them what was going on. They never did anything. They came back around November and tried to put cocking on again. I told them that it isn’t going to work, don’t bother doing it because I didn’t want to clean up the mess. It is now almost March 2016 and the leak is still there. There is mold all over the wall. My one year old has been sick the last couple months, my husband who has asthma has been having issues with his asthma. I have been sick the last couple of months.
We would leave but it cost almost $ 3,000 to get out of your lease. The place is the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. Praise God our lease is up in June.
There are cheaper places than this. The headache this place gives is not worth it.

The absolute worst thing I can say about this apartment complex is that they have the worst hours for landscapers to attend to the appearance. Forget sleeping in on your day off, or catching a fee extra z’s for a later shift. You’re going to hear that invasive buzz of leaf blowers on your doorstep at 8 am sharp too many times a week. You’ll come to love rainy days here even if your patio is flooding just so the landscapers can miss a day of work. I’ve had the worst year of sleep thanks to living here. Get ready for rocks and sand to graze your door and your windows to sound they like they will Crack at any moment. Doesn’t help that they work in 5 to 10 minute intervals and never stay in one spot until it’s finished, they run back and forth so it’s like 10 trillions bees they size of elephants flying back and forth your door. So just when you’re hopeful they done in your spot, and fall back to sleep, guess what?! They’re back to make sure you don’t. Completely hate living here simply because of no sleep.

They’ve recently entered my apartment without notifying us. My dog was in a corner shaking when I got home. As a result I now have video cameras in my apartment. This is by far THE WORST renting experience I’ve EVER had!

I have lived here for 18 months and I am now happy to be moving out. Since my last review I’ve seen things fluctuate to the point moving is the best option.
Trains going by at all hours day and night blowing their horns.
Paint peeling from staircases outside.
Mismatched siding (they finally replaced siding on my building that was rotting next to my door).
Poorly kept asphalt (major potholes that just get filled — not repaired, cracks, bumps).
The laundry facility is never really protected from the elements (door always open)
Security is a joke — there’s a gate, but it stays open so long people just linger outside to get in, not to mention people regularly using the exit gate to enter. Just last night I had to call the police after someone asked for money by knocking on my door at 12:30am, and proceeded to scope out/​ask everyone else nearby.
If you can’t afford somewhere else, rent here. But try to find anywhere else before you commit here for a long lease like I did.

UPDATED: There are multiple homeless men that wander around the apartments, 2 in particular are here EVERYDAY, we’re beginning to think they live here. The police have been called out, but they were not removed even though they have harassed several residents. The new gates are cheap and only work about 30% of the time leaving a line of cars trying to get back into the apartments because the remotes will not open the gates. Speaking of remotes, they make you PAY $ 50 for each remote — I’ve lived in 3 other apartments and have never had to pay to enter my own apartment complex! You will also have to pay $ 50 for the gym which has also always been free to residents at my other apartments, this apartment charges for every little thing they can! The water is still being cut off almost every other week, at least it’s not EVERY Thursday from 9am-​5pm now. The water pressure in the showers is nothing but a drizzle, I had to purchase a high pressure shower head. Good luck if you end up with loud neighbors because of you put in a noise complaint the office does absolutely nothing.
So in conclusion I will NOT be renewing my lease here and advise everyone to look at other options.
