Came in late 2x and the service was awesome each time. Coming in late and about time to clean up I don’t expect much and they have treated you us greatly. Always a must. We got Chicken Mariposa and Stuffed Avacado.

This place is almost hidden, tucked away behind CVS on 105 near 45 N, authentic old Mexican style devote, lots of Spanish tile but not over the top. The food is above average and best of all the prices are at a discount level compared to other places. Good atmosphere and a great place to watch sports

I have never had a problem at this restaurant until the last few times… service is horrible i asked three time can i place a order but the waitress kept walking off. I asked for two waters he come with two but leave one so i had to ask for another water and a straw and that was a 10 minute wait… i never got past drinks and barley recieved those… one persob asked if we were good i said no and he continued to talk and not come help. Couldnt ask for help because all the waitresses was to busy talking. This use to be one of my favorite places but no more. They really need to evaluate their staff because they are no help.

I did not care for a couple of comments the bar tender made yesterday. They made me very uncomfortable and I didn’t appreciate them at all.

The food was delicious and tasted homemade. The wait staff was friendly and very professional. I’m not in Houston often but when I come back through, I will make a define side trip to LA Mariposa. Side note: the owners dad was the sweetest and cutest thing. Unfortunately he had to leave and our conversation was cut short. I suggest the queso with chorizo.

The white queso is the only good thing. Salty rice, salty beans. Enchiladas were okay, they were the special($ 4.99) so I should not complain. You get what you pay for, right? I have been told this was the place to be back in the day; this is no longer true. Empty lot, dumb server, salty food. Mehhh. I came here against my will.

This was quite possibly one of the most awkward restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. We stopped in for lunch on Tuesday afternoon. Upon entering, the atmosphere was incredibly melancholy and it was easy to see that it was formed entirely by the staff. Our«host» was barely awake(or stoned) and led us lazily through the disgusting and un-bussed dining room, with dirty plates, napkins and other mess all over the place. We finally settled for the bar after he discovered that every table was still filthy. Our«host» also had no idea if there were any drink specials. Enter our first depressed waiter, in plain clothes, no apron, scratching at an unkempt beard and lounging by the bar on his cellphone until we showed up. Only one of the waitstaff had proper attire(I.e apron, book, non-slip shoes and any semblance of hygiene) Our meal consisted of a rotation of 3 separate«waiters,» each failing to introduce themselves, faded in appearance and failing showing any sort of expression whatsoever. It was like an avant-guard French film where no one can smile and you can’t wait for the end. Allow me to summarize the next hour of our meal. 80% of the waitstaff and«management» sitting lazily at the bar, all on their cellphones while three feast on food directly off of a tray while we sit unattended. The only saving grace is that the fajitas were rather delicious. But, the atmosphere detracted from that. As a former waiter, bartender and manager of a restaurant, it’s incredibly rare for me to leave 10% on a bill, I have a soft spot for those who work in the industry. But, if your restaurant is empty and you’re not attending your guests while you check Facebook in front of them, you’re obviously don’t care enough to make more.

It’s the Holidays and things are bit hectic. To avoid traffic we decided to stop and have some Mexican food for lunch at La Mariposa. We walked into an empty restaurant. We sat in a booth, «away from the tv», next to the hostess stand. Our waiter Andy(the receipt says Andy but I don’t think his name was Andy) took excellent care of us. He told us about the $ 4.99 cheese enchilada dinner. I ordered a strawberry margarita, which was also on happy hour for $ 3.50. We started with queso and when Andy asked«yellow or white?» we opted for yellow. The queso was boring to me. Nothing to write home about. Next time we will try guacamole or queso blanco. My strawberry margarita was refreshing. It was a decent size with fresh berry flavor. If you are looking for a buzz I would recommend adding a shot of grand mariner or tequila as a floater. I enjoyed both red and green salsa. Not to spicy, not to thick or watery, full of flavor. As we waited for our food I was a bit chilly. Andy immediately turned up the thermostat just 1 degree which made all the difference in the world. Kaleb said«I liked the service. The enchiladas could have been better. It wasn’t bad though. The service was good.» My fajitas weren’t alright. I would go back and order them again if I was passing through Conroe. I would recommend this place to locals, people visiting the outlet malls and families.

Holy s$!@, what a horrible restaurant! We came here on cinco de mayo and it wasn’t busy at all; maybe half full between the interior and patio area combined, but our waiter only managed to get our drinks and then the bust boy had to deliver our food, additional drinks and everything else(although«additional drinks» makes it seem like we actually got more drinks. We ordered them, they never showed up). The food was horrific. The carne guesida tasted like crawfish and the quesadillas were soggy with grease. I couldn’t even finish two bites of either. The only somewhat shining light was after waiting 15 minutes for the check, my girlfriend went to the bar to ask for it, and the bartender/our waiter told us not to worry about the check and apologized. We immediately left and headed to Margaritas and Peppers off 336 and 105 for good food and margaritas.

The only thing good is white queso. Waiter was horrible. Ritas too sweet. Salsa decent. Carne guisada is the worst thing ever. I’ve been here a few times before and it just keeps getting worse and worse. It’s Cinco de Mayo and we’ve only seen our waiter once in over an hour. I think the bus boy went to go find him.

This is the next bad thing to happen to Mexican food since Applebee’s starting serving fajitas. We ordered guac, tex mex nachos, and margs. It’s second star comes from the margarita price. 2 bucks a piece and very strong. If you want to get hammered, this place is a buck-saving option. The margs aren’t actually good. Too strong and too sweet but if you don’t care then that’s not a problem. The nachos were bad. The beef fajitas on top tasted oddly soft like the were defrosted. Probably were. The cheese is just like the grocery store. Frankly with a little effort you can make crappy fajitas yourself just like they serve and save some money because they’re around ten bucks a plate. Guacamole was bland. Get drunk here or don’t go.

Service was a little on the weak side, margarita machine was broken, requested a beer and it wasn’t ice cold. The taco Al Carbon was good, served hot. Good prices.

I went to lunch, food is decent, portions are rather small for the price. I would go back but it’s my first choice Mexican in town.

My husband and I ate there last week and, not only was the food awful, we were seated at a table next to the wall and I told him I kept smelling disenfectant. It was so bad I left with a headache. When we stood to leave we noticed a small black box on the wall above the table that said«Enviro…something.». It had been spraying a mist over our table the whole time we were there. Horrible experience… save your money!

My family can be a handful when we all go out to eat together. Mom wants to know if it has gluten, my brother wants to know how everything is prepared, I always want a straw and no ice in my water. Some people may call it «high maintenance», but I just think we all know what we like. The point is– when one of us really likes a place, it usually means that the food, service and value are at a pretty high standard. My parents love this place and when they took me for the first time, I saw what they liked about it. It reminds me of Austin. The stone building has a lot of character, from the outside fountain to the indoor decorations. Once we were happily seated, our server was sweet and attentive. Among us, we ordered a handful of dishes but all I cared about was the fajitas. I’m somewhat of a fajita connoisseur, so it’s the first thing I try at any Tex-Mex restaurant unless I’ve been warned not to. Delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful and the freshly-made tortillas totally made it for me. Unlike a previous reviewer, there was no smoke situation with my fajitas so maybe they were having an «off day». The rest of the family enjoyed chimichanga, soup, enchiladas and who knows what else… All in all, I enjoyed it. I’ll be back. And next time I’ll have margaritas.

I went with coworkers for lunch, giddy at the thought of sizzling fajitas with a side of satisfying guacamole, in pleasant surroundings on a rainy Friday afternoon. We arrived together and were immediately seated. The restaurant is spacious and had a booth for the 4 of us. The obligatory chips arrived first. My colleague observed that they tasted«funny» but I chalked that up to her not being used to greasy snack foods. I ordered beef fajitas with fresh jalapenos on the side. This is an opportunity for any Tex-Mex place to showcase its abilities. Indeed, how hard can it be to grill some skirt steak, throw in some peppers and onions, then deliver on a sizzling platter? It can be almost impossible as we were to find out. When the server arrived with our orders, the beef fajita platter was smoking so heavily, all patrons in our area of the restaurant began coughing. The smoke screen and pungent smell of jalapenos in the air were reminiscent of a World War I scene. The server actually had to take my dish outside to the patio so the smoke could clear. Several minutes later, smoke was still noticeable in the air. Instead of bringing a side of fresh jalapenos as requested, the cooks threw some on the meat and caused our entire party to experience asthma-like symptoms. But on to the dish itself. Portions are generous and not overly fatty. Pleasant texture and the corn tortillas appeared to be home made. I found the rice acceptable but my companion believed it was too dry. On the side I also found very creamy guacamole and a too small serving of pico. In all, the lunch prices are very reasonable, ranging from about $ 5.50 to 12 $ for shrimp fajitas. They charged me a whole $ 1.99 for the serving of fresh jalapenos which I had to request twice because it was not brought with the food as I asked for. That’s outrageous considering that a jalapeño costs barely $.05 at the store. Food itself is middling but I would be willing to give Mariposa another chance, if for no reason other than the lack of great Tex-Mex restaurants in Conroe. Stay away from special requests and your experience here should be better than ours.

GREAT frozen Margaritas, good service(thanks Patrick), an amazing amount of options, the list goes on and on… The facelift this place got from the Cinco de Mayo days is just what it needed. The food wasn’t bad before, but it’s AWESOME now. They use all Angus beef, for everything from the fajitas, to the Chicken Fried Ribeye(WHAT?) even the burgers are made with it. They have a lot of options, for me, the Burrito Mariposa is the best deal for the money, I got two meals out of that plate and it only cost me 12 bucks! They make tortillas in-house that are fluffy and perfect for the addictive house butter they give with the chips and salsa, all that before you even order an appetizer! I’m tellin’ ya, this place is gonna be a hit when they do some advertising, the server said that they have some music and other things going on on the 6th, which is the«Grand Opening». Most Def gonna hit this place up again, and again, and again…
