Atkinson Communications specializes in social media management and corporate communications for small to mid-​sized local companies.

History

Established in 2011.

The seed of Atkinson Communications began in 2008 at the beginning the Great Recession. As the economy weakened, jobs were lost, money grew scarce, fear and anxiety became a part of everyday life. Many lost their homes and hopes for the future.

Americans, however, are strong and resilient. From ashes grew our entrepreneurial spirit. We were not going to sit idly by and allow our circumstances to control our destiny. We would adapt and rebuild our lives. We would create something from nothing.

New ventures sprouted and surviving businesses repositioned themselves in the new landscape. The need for effective communications was critical; there was no room for error. Businesses needed someone they could trust to interact with a new breed of tech savvy customer, building a digital reputation while they focused on strengthening their business.

Atkinson Communications grew from that need and continues to help companies grow and prosper in today’s demanding digital business environment.

Meet the Business Owner

Nikki A.

Business Owner

Nikki began her career in communications as a police dispatcher in 1986. She soon added Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services to the mix and taking control of emergency situations over the phone became second nature. Acting as a Public Information Officer during this time was icing on the cake!

After an award-​winning career as a Communications Officer and Paramedic, Nikki put her writing talent to work for daily newspapers as a photojournalist. A computer buff, her transition to online news writing came naturally and she spent many happy hours keeping up with the aviation industry.

Public safety beckoned again and enticed Nikki to manage an entire 9−1−1 center. She rekindled her love of public relations by creating PR and public education campaigns, this time using a powerful new tool: social media. After retiring from public safety, knowing her skills would be of great benefit to the private sector’s new digital landscape she launched Atkinson Communications.
