The Window Shop

I have been a customer for about 10 years now. I have purchased over 700 windows from them. I wanted to be accurate on that number. Those are the receipts and invoices i have kept. I’m sure there are more.
My point to this is there have been two times I can remember an order was incorrect. Once my error, once his. Exceptional average in my opinion.
Personable, customer service, and someone who cares about his craft. A trait that seems impossible to find now days.

These guys are under the radar – at the time we used them I couldn’t find a single review of them except for a local realtor’s recommendation. She thought Daryl and his crew were terrific, though, so we gave them a call. So pleased that we did! Their quote for two casement windows in our home was very reasonable (not the lowest, but hundreds of dollars less than the high bid) and we have been very happy with the quality of the windows thus far (a year in). I agree with the review that noted that Daryl is tricky to get hold of, but he always returned calls when I left messages, and generally I’ve learned that the busiest contractors are the ones you want to work with. There was one problem with the windows when he arrived to install them – we were matching to original windows and he had drawn the wrong number of lites on the invoice (something we’d both missed). He cheerfully took them right back to the shop and returned a day or two later with everything properly corrected. Overall, a great experience at a very reasonable price point. We will use them again when we are ready to replace the next batch of windows.

Daryl and company put windows in for us about 12 years ago. At the time we had no complaints. Two of the windows never functioned correctly, but we never bothered calling the company about it. Then all of the insulated glass panels failed. Apparently this occurs between 10 – 15 years. We were never told this at the time. So, we looked up the original invoice and called The Window Shop. Talked to some guy who referred us to Daryl. No response to voice message. Called again and finally got in touch with him. He said the warranty was over and then started going off about how he dealt with some woman at our house who never paid him. I assured him this was not the case and he said he would come by and honor our concerns. Another week went by with an unanswered text, no call to the person he was supposed to meet and an unanswered voicemail. Finally he answered the phone and then started going off again about he was never paid. I asked him if it was possible he dealt with someone who owned the house before us or was somehow mistaken. He was somehow sure it was us. I told him I even have the receipt! There is a screw loose with this one. Bottom line? Non-​functional windows, failing glass, hard to reach, unprofessional and expensive. There are lots of options out there. Go with someone else.

So we just bought a house that was build in the 1950’s. Cool windows but they are old. Called the owner on a recommendation from a friend. He was a latte hard to get a hold of, he’s super busy. He was so nice and helpful! He asked a lot of questions and was on the phone with me answering all my questions. In the end, he said I shouldn’t go with him due to what he would have to do to replace the windows and going with someone else to get the windows we wanted would be cheaper for me. Even after knowing we weren’t going to hire him for the job, he offered to come and look and my windows and give me advise! What a stand up guy! Super nice, knowledgable and helpful. So I can’t comment on the work he does but my friend swears by him who is super picky and has an amazing house. Would highly recommend them!
