If I could split the review between the food and the décor, I would. This is a no-​nonsense, no frills joint. For food I give them 4 stars — if you like Roccos you’ll like this. Very similar sauce and crust. I will definitely add them to my take out list. The restaurant itself gets 2 stars. It was clean but they don’t seem to have enough staff and it’s not a very inviting place. You don’t walk in and think, yeah, I could just sit here with a couple of beers and watch a game. There appears to be only one server then 2 or 3 guys in the kitchen and a couple of drivers coming in and out. They do have alcohol (bonus) so it’s not all bad. Good pizza, beer/wine…not too much to complain about. It’s also a little confusing when you walk in — do you seat yourself, wait for someone, order at the counter? Lots of confusion there. Seems like if you order for take-​out you walk up to the counter. If you’re eating in, I think you just sit down and the server finds you. I’m still not sure about that.
Bottom line, good pizza, but will definitely keep this on the delivery/​take out list and not add to my dine-​in list.

Pepperoni and mushroom pizza
They didn’t put enough sauce, although the sauce wasn’t seasoned enough. Pepperoni and mushroom were paper thing. Couldn’t really taste the pepperoni. The dough seem undercooked.
The lasagna was okay. Thus the 2 stars.

The pizza is not fantastic, but even if it was it doesn’t excuse their complete indifference to their customers.
I ordered a pizza for my son tonight, paid for it, returned 15 minutes later (which is how long they said), only to find that they «had given it to someone else» (their words).
They seemed to think this was OK. I didn’t receive an apology, only an offer to make me another.
Since this was for my son, I had no choice but to wait while they made another one.
If it was for me, I would have walked out. I will not be returning.

Finally a great pizzeria in Concord! And what’s so ironic for me is I grew up in San Bruno and Totos Pizza was IT! Well this is the sister (or brother) pizzeria! I LOVE their pizza and I love their spaghetti and I love their ceasar salad! So beyond happy they opened up down the street from my house!

Went here with a friend and our toddlers for lunch.
Pros:
— Pretty empty.
— Fast service.
— Polite staff.
— Kid friendly.
— Cheap lunch options.
Cons:
— Food was okay. I got the spinach pasta and honestly it tasted like a buttoni meal from the freezer section and the buttoni alfredo sauce is better than Tavo’s.
— Not enough options on the menu.

Thought I’d write another review as I’ve noticed a trend — Eat In versus To Go! When we’ve eaten in, the crust was crisper and the pie seemed more delicious. When we’ve done a pickup, its soggy on bottom and not as yummy. We only live 4 blocks away so I’m not driving for 30 minutes to get home — maybe 2 if I get stuck at the light.
We’ll be heading back soon — my son can’t get enough of their Hawaiian Pizza with thick crust. No, the «thick crust» isnt a Chicago-​style deep dish but its got a wider crust along the edge for holding it and a bit thicker on bottom.

Tavo’s is pretty good. My girlfriend took me here. Ordered a large spaghetti (thats my girlfriends favorite dish) and a small pizza.
The pizza was good. Nice and fresh. Very delicious.
The spaghetti was good too. I wished their «House Sauce» which is a meat sauce had more meat in it. Can hardly taste ANY meat at all.
Other than that Its a good place! Will be back when Im in the area!

This little place is best described with the phrase, «Pleasantly Surprised.» When I am out driving around all day for work I don’t always have great options for food. Considering its location in Concord, CA much of the area is under development. Its sort of an area where they rip out the trees and then name the streets after them.
Given it’s strip mall locale I went in to Tavos with the MAD TV sense of «Lowered Expectations,» and came out thinking, «Well, that was actually pretty good.» The pizza I ordered was just a standard meat, cheese and sauce pizza, nothing extravagant. However I also appreciate simple dishes done very well.
It’s certainly not the best pizza I’ve ever had but the staff was courteous and friendly. They had a very clean restaurant and sensible prices. Overall I don’t think you can go wrong here.
if you’re out in the sub urban sprawl and hungry for pizza, give this place a shot.

I had seen reviews of this place in Brentwood, but never tried it out, I had seen this location in Concord, but I have not tried it out either. I was in charge of getting Dinner last night, so I was in the neighborhood and decided to get a Pizza Pie. Tuesday night is Family Night which is the best deal in town. I ordered a Large 2 Toppings pie which included a Large Garden Salad, and a 2 Liter soda. You also had a choice of Caesar salad, too. I went with the Mushrooms and Pepperoni as my Pizza toppings with Ranch dressing for my Salad Dressing. The Salad was quite large with Tomatoes, Red onions, Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Croutons, and of course a large dressing. Speaking of large, the Pizza was quite huge and we had plenty leftover. The Crust was thin and the toppings were generous. The Service and Cleanliness is an easy 4 Stars. Definitely worth the $ 25.

I finally got to try out this place yesterday and it was ok. Not too bad. The service was nice, but I didn’t like that you had to order at the counter before you found a spot to sit. I also didn’t like that they didn’t have a big selection of toppings to choose from. I would probably go here again, but it wouldn’t be high on my list of pizza places.

I really enjoyed the pizza here. Have not tried the pasta yet. The ingredients taste really fresh.

This place is chill — and beats dealing with the crowds at Skipolinis, plus I like the pizza WAY better.
Tavo’s has just been added to my Tuesday nite ritual!

I was excited to go to Tavo’s, as it was new and offered up new competition against the existing pizza restaurants in the area. Upon entering, I was struck by how stark and sterile the place felt. There was no atmosphere, no ambiance. I felt very uncomfortable in the harsh bright light. Conversations seemed awfully subdued, which seemed odd considering there were a fair amount of patrons.
The menu is very simple, which I think is a pity. Though it may not be as authentic as a NY or Chicago style pizza, I always enjoy a variety of pizza toppings and options, which I don’t see on this menu. Regardless of the menu, what pizzas we have ordered have always been rather bland and boring in taste. It’s very disappointing, and their established competitors definitely have them in quality, hands-​down.
Overall, an average dining experience. Worth a try, but I probably will go with Strictly-​To-​Go instead. At least there’s flavor in that pizza!

OK, so… I am a complete PIZZA FANATIC (seriously, just ask my wife), and I am also from New Jersey, so I know my pizza from the crust to the toppings and everything in between!
I have been reluctant to try Tavos, just because pizza in Claycord is so freakin’ BAD. I usually buy from Strictly to Go Pizza, because it is the closest thing I have found to NY pizza… but Tavos is very close, if not better.
The restaurant is very clean and well-​decorated. The owners are extremely nice, and I’m pretty sure they are from the East Coast.
The pizza has a crust that is thin, tasty and a little bit chewy, baked at the correct temp in a flat pizza own. THIS IS KEY! NY pizza is a little bit charred on the bottom, but not crispy, and a little bit chewy, something most places miss… probably because they don’t have-​toss the dough to build up nice chewy glutens!
The cheese is absolutely perfect, both in taste and coverage. It is also a little bit charred, but not overly chewy, another consequence of cooking at high temps but not for too long.
The sauce is definitely the best part. Very fresh, and a little bit gourmet. The basic pizza I tried had a strong fresh basil taste, with actual basil that you can see! Still within NY takeout pizza acceptable limits, with more of a fresh, bright tomatoe-​y taste.
The best part-​they are open all day, unlike Skips or Stryctly-​to-​Go, which only open after 4pm.
My list for best pizza overall in Claycord + NutCreek:

It’s interesting how other reviewers had the *exact* same experience I did:
–The Caesar salad was good.
–The pizza dough was overcooked.
–The atmosphere and service felt like a fast food joint.
–The price was a bit high for what we got.
I don’t need much in the way of service or fancy settings. However, $ 30 for (a medium) uninspired crunchy pizza with bland sauce and a salad was too much. Nothing was horrible per se, but nothing about it was good enough that I want to go back.

So. I’ve been excited about the new restaurants etc that have been put in this little area. Basically there’s 2 choices for me: downtown concord or this area. I’ve been choosing downtown concord but have decided to try out the newer places.
Brief Summary
— Decent prices & menu
— You order at the counter but the cashiers give you drinks and bring you your food. a little bit different then traditional waiter service.
— Pizza was OK but definitely OVERCOOKED
— Sauce was a little bit bland but definitely a simple marinara
— Crust would have been really good if it weren’t overcooked

I was pleased with the salad. It was fresh and the Ceasar was tangy. Croutons were tasty and overall it was a good salad.
Garlic Cheese bread looked like french bread with butter and garlic and sliced mozarella. Not very spendy but nevertheless it did its job. It wasn’t a «I might crave later» type of thing. It was just the same as you make it at home, unless you’re got some special recipe.
The Pizza like I said was overcooked. This is lightweight a killer for me. I love pizza crust that’s crispy but hot and soft on the inside. The Pizza looked great when it came out but after getting a slice it reminded me of «frozen» pizza because the bottom of the pizza was hard. After a few slices and some ranch, I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t get over it being overcooked. Unfortunately I’ve had way better pizza, especially at Rocco’s down the street. Rocco’s in general is pretty far for me to drive for pizza but that’s probably why I don’t go there much. Pepperoni was decent, nothing to brag about. I like when the pizza has SOME grease and this one had some.
The cashier girls filled our drinks promptly. Food came out promptly. In general the experience was good. I’m not sure if I’d be making it a habit, though. Try it out and see if your pizza is overcooked. You’ve got to give a place at least 3 times to prove themselves to you.

First time at this joint. A little stuffy in there on a hot day, their A/​C must have not been set cool enough.
No true waiter service, so you grab a table where you can check out their menu. When you’re ready to order, you go to their cash register to do that. (However they do bring you your food.)
Our salad and soup came, salad was good. Croutons were light and tasty. They brought my spaghetti and meat balls with pesto sauce, but didn’t bring the garlic bread. Said that it was still baking. (Why not just bring the order in its entirety?) The spaghetti was dry. The garlic bread was ok but spread was too light where you couldn’t detect any garlic. For soda refill I had to go to the counter to get it. Would be nice if it were self serve. Overall, not really impressed with their pasta, I would have ordered their pizza, but their small size was $ 15. Unfortunately, no personal pizzas are offered. Perhaps I’ll split a pizza with someone next time. Maybe their pizza is their calling, not their pasta.

This place is new to the Concord location so it seems like they’re still trying to find their footing. Everyone in my group seemed to like their pizza, but it was just OK for me. A friend who is a former pizzeria owner said he thought it was a little bit over cooked. But I guess when it comes to pizza everyone has their opinions on what’s good.
We ordered 3 large pizzas and they were able to serve 10 with left overs. They deliver and our order arrived within about 25 – 30 min. But one of our pizzas was wrong (they put pepperoni, instead of salami) Not a huge deal. Another thing was weird, I thought the cheese seemed kind of… rubbery? Anyway, I can’t say anything terrible about this place and I’d probably go back because the location.

Tavo’s is new to this immediate area, and new to me. They offer various levels of crust thickness… I typically prefer thin, and they made a great thin pizza for me. The crust tasted great, and the toppings were of high quality (including the delicious sauce).
They also offer a small number of pasta entrees (lasagna, spaghetti, ravioli), and some salads. The caesar salads I’ve had are very fresh and taste great.
Their online menu might seem a little expensive, but you get what you pay for… in this case, really good food. They have several lunch specials that make this a very affordable lunch spot ($ 4.25 individual-​sized cheese pizza, toppings extra. and pasta specials are about $ 5-​$ 6).
They have a Coca-​Cola fountain and will come around to refill you as you’re eating.
