I just recently got my car smoged and registered here and I must say I had a very Friendly encounter with Jeff he was very kind and straight to the point smog only took about 20 – 25 min and even less for the registration and I would definitely come back again great service and great people

I recently wrote a negative review because I felt I wasn’t treated right as a customer by one of the employee’s of Smog Star. I received a message from the owner saying that she agreed with my take on the situation and sent me a free re-​test certificate. Furthermore, the owner stated that the staff was re-​trained in customer service. I really appreciate that. I actually felt bad leaving a negative review and I can only imagine it must be frustrating for an owner to have one employee affect the reputation of their business.

This place is the best. Here for the second time getting my car smogged. Really easy and really fast. As long as my car needs to be smogged it will always be done here.

Came to get my smog check. I was smart enough to wait until NYE to renew my reg. Jeez, I’m bad with names but I think his name was Scott?! Darn, I want to give him credit. He was a really great guy! Really fast on the smog too!

These guys did okay by us. Not great, but okay. We set an appointment four days in advance before bringing a 2002 Mitsubishi in. We received a confirmation email, and an email reminder every two days between when we set the appointment and our appointment date.
When we arrived there on a Sunday afternoon, on-​time for our appointment, there were three or four people waiting. The (only) technician on duty explained that it would be a considerable wait, that it was very busy, and that there were several people ahead of us.
We explained that we had an appointment for 2pm. The technician hung his head and said «man, I wish they would stop taking appointments on Sunday.» He would not honor the appointment and explained that we would need to wait behind everyone else who had walked in.
He –should– have honored our appointment and squeezed us in ahead of people who were walk-​ins. Sadly, he did not, and not wanting to wait, we left. We scheduled our day around this smog appointment and it was disappointing to have it turn out this way. Why have an appointment system at all if you’re not willing to honor the appointment and perform the work as close to the appointment time as possible; even if it means displacing some other people? (Other people who had not gone through the effort of scheduling an appointment?)
After finding that most other places were closed on Sunday, I chose to see if there was anything that could be done. I called back and the tech explained that while he wouldn’t do anything about the wait, he was willing to offer us a discount and smog our car for $ 40 out the door.
The wait was a little over two hours after our original appointment time, but we did pass and the paperwork was minimal.
Bonus point for giving us a discount, but bad experience by wasting our time. You need to either honor appointment times, or not take them at all.

Fast service, very easy and convenient. I would highly recommend going here if you need a smog check.

Had a small issue before smog. Scott told me how to fix it. After I came back it was a bit busy. He said the wait would be about 45 minutes. After he literally ran around finishing up the other customers I was finished in 20 minutes.

Started out the day at a smog location id used once once or twice before. In addition to being greeted with some serious attitude they were no longer smog certified. Found another place online and same deal. Finally my girlfriend found smog star express online and we called. I was greeted by Scott on the phone with a great attitude and personality. He told me to come in and expect maybe a 30 minute wait. We came in signed all the paperwork and were in and out within 15 minutes. In addition to a quick friendly smog they are also dmv partners meaning they can register your vehicle and give you your new stickers without the hassle of going down to the dmv. Excellent experience. Thanks Scott and Jeff. You guys earned yourselves a new comeback customer.

Made an online appointment after reading the reviews.
I was the only person there, tech was waiting at the desk, as one would hope.
Immediately processed me and asked for the key
said it would take 15min seemed like only 10min and Passed.
It was a 2001 vehicle so with CA SMOG certificate $ 79 via Square iPad App,
retest was half off, if needed, seems fair.
Told me the DMV would send me the registration in the mail in 10 days.
Done in 15min total!!!

DO NOT COME HERE. Way overpriced. They will charge for a retest. Pacheco Smog is a great example of how a smog test station should be, go there instead.

Excellent customer service.
Brought in my 1998 Benz, you pay an extra $ 10 if your vehicle is 1999 or older but they honor their $ 20 off Unilocal coupon so it was $ 69 out the door.
Scott ran both the front desk and tech work, he had two vehicles going at the same time so I was out in 20 minutes. Scott was very friendly and courteous.
They even offer free beverages and snacks while you wait.
I will definitely return for all my smog needs.
