Ridiculous, I could not schedule an appointment to save my life. I must have been transferred 4 times before being cut off. I tried calling doctors in my network and it directed me to the hospital, i tried calling the hospital and they made me call the doctor, see the paradox? Most frustrating experience of my life!!!

This a note of gratitude to the staff at John Muir emergency room.
Last Tuesday I was having extreme pain in my right upper chest, I endured for as long as I could (tough guy), finally I conceded to the pain and entered the emergency room. The staff seeing my pain got me right in and blood tests were ordered. I then met Dr. Calderon as she ordered up a ultra sound. From that test she declared that I had a medical emergency and that I needed to be admitted into hospital to have my gallbladder removed. I was not comfortable and a bit nervous with that but the doctor convinced me that it would only get worse.
At this point I need to mention the professionalism and patient care demonstrate by the whole staff, taking that into account and Dr. Calderon’s concern for my well being, I consented at which Time i was admitted.
Once in my room and for the next four days I was once again shown the professionalism and caring of the staff .
My gallbladder was removed the following day. And I released two days later.
This hospital is all about the patients needs.

Hate going to the ER but the staff here is friendly and make it an easy trip. I was fortunate to have the same nurse as the last trip in. Nothing major, some poison oak that got infected and swelled my arm up, a huge shot in my rear and the nurse and I are now closer friends… ha ha ha

I truly appreciate the care and attention that I receive from the wonderful staff at John Muir center on Treat in Concord. I have not had a less that 5-​star experience with this location, and that includes Urgent Care for a skin cancer and plugged ear! I appreciate their attitude of kindness and concern; they are very organized, also, at least in my experience.

While I cannot image anyone enjoying hospitalization and surgery, I must say John Muir Concord make the experience as pleasant as possible. Each staff member I met, from admitting, security, housekeeping and the professional medical personnel went out of their way to smile, say hello or offer a word of encouragement. Small things? Yes– but it surely helped.
The nursing staff was the 3 rd floor/​Ortho surgery floor was outstanding. I wish I could remember everyone’s name– Lucy, Corinne, Heather, Emem
Tracy and many others. They were gentle kind professional and personable.
Their good nature went along way in helping my surgical rehab get started on the right track… Og course, Dr Crow is the absolute best. A fact everyone agreed with,

Wonderful place filled with a caring staff. Even though they were overworked… lots of drug seekers and tweeters, they were able to tribe quickly and see the urgent need patients immediately. I came in with chest pain, and despite the lady who wanted Valium for her pain complaints of she was ahead of all these other people, they got me on an ekg machine immediately. When it turned out not a heart attack, they moved me to room where it did take some time. Still, the room is comfy, and I have wifi, where I am writing this review. The phlebotomist who took my blood was great, as was the X-​ray tech. Glad I came here. They have me currently stable. And I appreciate it.

If I could give them a negative star I would. They have the worst Emergency Room staff and service ever. Went in this evening because I hadn’t been feeling well all day. Got there about 9pm. It was kinda full so I expected a wait. I was called for vitals by the bourse with in 15mins.
After that I was told it could be a while before I was called to the back. I actually was called with in 10mins.
The guy that took me back was nice but sweating. He got me warm blankets and a gown and said someone would be in shortly. An hour and half later no on had been in to check on me. Not even a nurse.
I decided I could not feel well at home. As I was leaving a lady who I assume to be my nurse says you leaving. I said yes. She says hood cuz we only have one doctor on staff. Oh well I’m leaving I’ve been here 12hrs. She just turns around and walks away.
I asked for a complaint for and left. I will not go backZ I would rather go to the Walnut Creek campus or drive to UCSF…

I have now had two horrible experiences at this location. I have no idea what they are doing here. Last night in the ER I even had a physician yell at me… Thats right, a pleasant and knowledgeable patient got yelled at out of the blue by some jerk doctor. Now I need to exclusively go to Walnut Creek cause now I cant stand this hospital for inpatient or ER. I cant even begin to explain all the incredibly wrong things they do here. But after two really bad experiences, never ever again. Even if I’m dying, I’m gonna have my loved ones write in my forehead with a sharpie, anywhere but John Muir Concord.

I only know the ER here and it’s pretty much hit-​or-​miss.
I recently brought a friend in and the doctor was great; he took his time and explained everything and anything. The nursing staff and phlebotomist were stellar. We were in and out in a very reasonable time.
I was there in March. Barely saw the nurse or the doctor. I didn’t have a life threatening condition so I wasn’t expecting to be swarmed over with concern. Just pop in from time to time and say Hello. What I didn’t enjoy was the common practice of at least providing an ice bag for a fractured finger and being treated like a common drug-​seeker. I have a «sensitive» job that subjects me to random and frequent screening. If I turn in a positive sample and if it’s a documented prescription I’m sidelined for a minimum of 5 days without pay. If I don’t have a prescription I’m bounced out the door in zero seconds flat. In other words, that’s certainly not the reason I go to an ER.
But Security is great as was registration and radiology. Perhaps those departments should be in charge of patient satisfaction.
Generally speaking thank goodness my company’s started offering Keiser healthcare.

Dr Williams is the worst doctor, very arrogant, no manners, his diagnosis was incorrect, just wants to spend 3 min with the patient and go to the next.
Very impolite, does not answer questions and treats patients badly.
So they took my payment and I was treated badly, what kind of service is that?

Very good care and clean safe feeling environment. I felt comfortable leaving my dad there without worrying.

I am so VERY VERY impressed with this hospital, having just dealt with them for the first time. After calling John Muir Urgent Care in Brentwood, they asked me to hold while they got the nurse to speak to me. When describing my husband’s symptoms, she told me to get him to the emergency room ASAP. Having JUST gotten his Medicare and gap coverage from Humana, I mistakenly drove to Brentwood, not realizing there was no ER there. Ran into Urgent Care, I was given a map and hit the road agaIn. And kudos to Brentwood’s Urgent care team as well!
Upon arrival, the paperwork was ready for his signature, the arm band was ready to put in place and there was NO WAIT TIME AT ALL. I had a huge sigh of relief. Turns out my husband had suffered a stroke. I could go on and on about all they did to get him cared for immediately, admitted, but what I REALLY want all to know is that without exception EVERYONE in that hospital was absolutely FABULOUS!
From the minute we walked in right up to discharge there was not ONE person who was not extremely professional, pleasant, taking time to answer his as well as my own questions. Not ONCE did I ever feel rushed, not ONCE did I ever feel anxious about the level of care given.
EVERY NURSE on Floor three in the Cardiovascular Wing, was fabulous, William a super nice guy who made me feel so much better when my husband was having a tough night, and EVERY other nurse I interacted with, allowed me to go home at night with no worries that he would get the best care possible.
The Neurologist, the physical therapist, and right through to the case manager, Donna Craig, were just the best.
I am so very grateful for the care my husband received and for how kind they were to me as well. I do not think there is a single thing that could be improved upon. A rare statement tobe able to make in today’s corporate mentality.

My visit to the ER was very good, staff was very helpful love it! The assistant Doctor was so concerned and explained everything in detail! Front desk very professional. security desk too. Place very clean. And services was very fast. I highly recommend.

Been sent here for radiation… In which I’m grateful! Medical staff are wonderful! They’re pretty informative and make you feel comfortable. I’m changing health plans from Kaiser to John Muir next year!!!

We had to make a visit to this ER and Dr Grayzar was wonderfully caring and compassionate. She took her time with the patient and family, explaining and advising without judgement about the situation.
Unfortunately the nursing staff was unhelpful and unprofessional. I’m a nurse myself so I do understand the frustrations with the job and the type of patients they see in the ER. However, that’s no excuse to be having loud conversations making fun of other patients right in the middle of the er where we could hear every detail from our room. Apparently they don’t care about HIPPA since they even used the patient’s name.
Our nurse in particular, who never even introduced herself so I didn’t get her name, was cold and barely said a word to us or the patient other than barking some orders when she poked her head in. She couldnt answer our questions about what meds had been given but thankfully the doctor went out of her way to find out for us. She left the patient feeling judged and guilty for even bothering her with his problems.
The hospital itself seemed clean and well organized as we were seen and discharged efficiently. The front desk security staff was also very helpful. Unfortunately the nursing staff left much to be desired.

Our trip to the Concord ER facility was an unnecessary nightmare and I do plan on launching a formal complaint as this isn’t the first time. My husband was recently diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS). Each episode can last for a couple of days or a week, as in this last episode. He is under pain management, but because he wasn’t able to keep fluids down we made our 2^nd trips to ER.
Only the security staff were warm and friendly. The front desk was cold and triage nurse was very abrupt and argumentative. My husband was in pain and the triage nurse asked him a lot of repetitive questions. He felt that since he’d just been in ER 24 hours earlier (and many times before) this information should have been readily available to them. I do know for a fact that all the information they ask for is available to them and should pop up when a patient’s name is entered. It is a fact among several hospital RN’s that I’ve spoken to about this that some take the time to access the info, but many others are too lazy or have no empathy for the patients they serve.
A sick patient in severe pain and an RN with a lot of attitude and cynicism is a recipe for a bad experience. It’s unfortunate because it takes a lot schooling and money to become an RN, so you would think the people that make it through know the deal when dealing with the public and chose the profession because they are passionate about helping people. Too many chose a field that they shouldn’t be in.

I went to this hospital last night because my one year old son was very sick. He was suffering from stomach issues after swallowing a beta fish. Don’t ask.
When I got the this facility, the waiting room was super packed full of unsanitary individuals with no masks on their face. They were pretty quick to get is to a triage nurse. After that, we did not have to wait long to get into a room.
My overall experience was that the nurses seemed to do their jobs well. The doctor was a bit sarcastic and unprofessional. One of the Polish male nurses was pretty mouthy. He began commenting on my son being half Israeli and then starting to talk about the holocaust and how Jews do not want to be cremated after death because of what the nazis did. I just wanted him to more or less keep his thoughts to himself and help me but whatever.
I normally have a good experience with this hospital but they released my son dehydrated. I had to go to Oakland to be provided proper and professional care. I am rating this experience one star. If they had done less talking and more doing their jobs, I would have solved my sons pain and suffering. Thank you for making my one year old go through that (sarcastic). My other experiences were okay. The next time that I go to this hospital, in the event that I get better treatment, I will be happy to re rate the ER. Get with it guys. I know that it may very well be a stressful job but you are dealing with peoples lives here. As for that doctor, maybe it is time to retire. To the male nurse, shut it!

RUN AWAY, Do not go to John Muir unless your about to die.
The first thing you have to sign is a financial agreement which state in #1 that all their doctors are independent contractors, and will bill you separately. Not only did I get bill over 6k For an ER visit which ended up being I dont know whats wrong with you go home and see another specialist if it persists, 2 months later got a separate bill from a dr that only looked at my chart and said we cant find anything wrong. Am I naïve to think that the hospitals are the ones that pay their doctors and patients are the ones that pay the facility?

I’m at least giving it a star but that’s because of one good nurse… Cheryl F. Everything else was dismal. ER took forever for everything because they are so understaffed. My procedure with the doctor was incredibly painful! And I’ve had this done before elsewhere. My nurse was very busy and attending others, but because I have prostate problems I needed to urinate. My wife found another nurse not busy sitting at the desk by my room. However, She turned out to be a Prima Dona, had an attitude, and told my wife to go find our nurse, Cheryl. The doctor defended the desk nurse when I complained. All we saw was her laughing and talking with other nurses. It must be a good job. Thanks for nothing.
I wanted to go home then but the doctor (questioning my competency) and especially Cheryl came up with a solution for me to stay. So, I was admitted to a room with the worse mattress ever. It was totally worn out and super soft. The nurse Roselle tried to defend it until my wife sat on it and said it was worn out. Her butt sank clear to the springs. And the pillow was way too thick. I spent the night awake sitting in a hard side chair taking a drip. When it finished I was supposed to get another one, but the nurse didn’t come back for hours!
That was it, I told Roselle that I was leaving and got another we can’t be held responsible speech. Yeah, whatever. She even offered me a private room at that time to stay. Well, after listening to the man in the other bed fart, gurgle and snore for hours I was wanting to leave more than ever. The entire experience was so bad! They didn’t even shave my hair before bandaging me. The next doctor, a surgeon, who saw me was amazed at that. And let me tell you, it hurt all over again as she removed the bandaging!
I’ll see my primary physician this week and get proper treatment from someone who cares and is not paranoid about being sued. The hospital ran every test known to man on me. If this had not been a three day week end, I would have gone to my doctor and had the procedure there. But instead, I had to go to the hospital where they maxified every aspect of this event. The service was inferior and when I figure out who to complain to on a State level, I will.

I’ve been in the cardiovascular building at John Muir many times for different reasons, most recently, last night (Saturday). On the way into the building there are face masks and hand sanitizer. Inside, my husband and I stopped in the lobby to look at the prettily decorated Christmas tree and other decorations. The main front desk was empty but we were able to find a directional guide near the elevator and figure out which floor we needed.
The second floor is home to the progressive care unit — where a patient may be moved after ER, but before a surgery. There is a large waiting room with a TV and many chairs, so your family and friends can come see you but not all crowd your private room at once. Outside of that waiting room is a front desk where I found two friendly girls sitting — happy to direct me to the room I was looking for.
Many of the private rooms are very spacious — the one I saw last night had 6 people comfortable sitting in it — and only one patient. He had a private bathroom and it was set up very nicely. It’s nice to know that your loved one is really being cared for. Outside of this patient’s room there was another desk with three other staff people working and checking on patients. Everything was very clean (duh, it’s a hospital).
I really have only had good experiences here when talking with staff and patients. The cardiovascular unit is really nice — hopefully you won’t ever have to visit someone being treated in there, but if you do, I’d trust that they are in good hands.
