Got Rats Rodent Proofing

I have been quite happy with Got Rats Rodent Proofing. We usually get one rat a year in our house, but last year we killed two with traps and it was clear there were more so we called in the pros. They came out in a timely manner, gave me a quote, allowed me to split the fee into 2 payments and got to work.
Armando is fantastic. He came out and did the initial fixing of the exterior holes and set traps. We had a technician out once a week for four months. Twice I got another guy who would spend two minutes here and then just tell me to call the office with any questions I had. Armando operated as if this was his house and took measures to figure out the problem areas and fix them. After the other guy came out the second time, I called the office and requested to just get Armando only. They honored this every time and even called me one week to check if they should send someone because Armando was on vacation. Just last week Paul put crackers out and we just need one more check and we’re all clear. This was a crazy 4-​month adventure with rats in the piano, the oven, you name it. My husband handled all the interior holes and Armando did the rest.
The only issue I really had was getting a hold of the office and making appointments. I was always able to do it, but it wasn’t always easy. Once they didn’t return my call for 3 days and I was afraid they went out of business, but eventually Jennifer called me back and told me they are just slammed. With the drought having gone on for so long, the rodents are worse than ever.
Overall I would definitely recommend Got Rats Rodent Proofing. They made a promise, kept it and charged a fair price.

The phone number doesn’t work now on top of missed appointments and multiple phone calls unreturned within the past 2 months. I think this company might have folded after taking our money and my in-​laws… Originally they were super responsive and seemed like our problems were solved. That’s definitely not the case now. Better business bureau, «help!»

I am very disappointed with this company. We found an old rat nest in the wall when doing a remodel. I contacted Got Rats to clean out the nest and plug some holes in the exterior house to prevent this from recurring. We also had moved our makeshift kitchen into the garage and as a result a little field mouse moved in to the garage. I am a veterinarian and treat small mammals so I was not wanting to kill the mouse, just get a humane trap to release him elsewhere. Got Rats told me they could provide a humane trap, but they would have to order one. I agreed to let them do that as well as the rest of the job, but was quite clear I did not want a snap trap.
They sent a guy out the next week to set traps. He arrived an hour early from our scheduled time at 7:30 am and woke up my toddler, and reeked of cigarettes. My whole house smelled for two days just from having him walk through the hall. He acted annoyed when I asked about the live traps. Look, I get that this is a rodent exterminator company, but I made my requests clear and if they didn’t want my business they could have told me. He said he had a couple live mouse traps but none for rats so he leaves the mouse trap.
Meanwhile, we are still seeing the mouse in our garage, as the holes to outside are patched., we have now named this guy and my kids are involved… I call the company twice to get advice on traps. NO response to messages. Finally, I moved the «humane» traps to a different part of the garage to where the mouse has been spotted. An hour later, we see the trap is full and we gathered it up to release him outside.
I open the trap and the poor mouse is gasping to breathe and obviously bleeding internally. I was shocked and looked up online to see the humane trap I requested and paid for was actually a snap trap. And a shit one at that because it didn’t even kill the poor guy.
So I was forced to euthanize this little mouse on Christmas eve… Fun family event :(I am pissed at this company for not returning calls or providing the service I paid for. If I wanted to kill this single garage mouse, I would have bought a traditional fast acting snap trap and done it myself. These guys are awful and non responsive to phone calls. I still feel sick to my stomach about this whole thing.

Still have rats, worse than when it started, not responsive, never checks in, no show for today’s appointment, took $ 850 with nothing to show for it. I never leave reviews but I’m fed up with rats and Got Rats.

Took my money, still have rats, not responsive. Don’t waste your time and money and use a different company.

GOT RATS, yup! 5 stars is for Drew (Andrew), the only tech I want at my home. He is on time, polite, friendly and knows what he is doing! He’s been working on my rodent problem for months doing everything possible without having to bother any neighbors. (Condo living, joy joy) It finally came down to having a conversation with a neighbor to solve my problem. He’s handling it which means I don’t have too and I am 100% confident this issue will be resolved soon. This could have been resolved months ago but let’s just say some people need to be «handled with care».

YES, I highly recommend them! Who should you ask for when you call? Yup, you know that answer!

I’m writing this review in part because of the excellent customer service I felt I received from the folks at «Got Rats», but also in part because of the bad customer service I received from other companies listed on Unilocal!that were highly ranked. It’s a long review, but pest elimination is a sketchy service area, so I’m hoping it keeps someone from having to deal with the frustration I was dealing with before I got to this company.
First off, the technician that took care of my property was Andrew. Very nice guy, but had a real sense of customer service. I appreciated this because I ran my own contractor-​related service business, and my emphasis on customer service was basically a cornerstone to how I wanted my business perceived. In connection with his scheduling people, Andrew showed up, not just within the time frame they gave me, but always on the earlier side of that.
Compared to the other companies I attempted to have handle this problem where calls were not returned for days, even after I had someone assure me over the phone, «we’ll get back to you the following day», «Got Rats» got me scheduled relatively quickly and as I mentioned above, Andrew showed up on the earlier side of the time frame they scheduled me for.
Additionally, I first attempted to have «All-​in-​One» handle this problem first, they charged a moderate inspection fee (I didn’t have a problem with that, but, Got Rats did a free inspection for me. Another company besides the one I just referred to want $ 250 inspection fee + $ 100 each time they came out to check traps — I believe this was «Critter Control»), and then when we scheduled the service appointment (with All-​in-​One), I was given a 2 hour window. On the day of that appointment, an hour after the window closed, I called in and had to cancel the appointment (because I was showing my house) and it wasn’t until I stated I wanted to cancel the appointment that I was told «he’s 15 minutes away».
Another aspect that made me feel like «Got Rats» was a better company was that the initial inspection tech («All-​in-​One») identified 2 sections on my house that needed to be sealed. Andrew at «Got Rats» ultimately identified and sealed 7 – 8 potential locations that he felt clearly showed critters (in my case, squirrels) getting in. Also, there was a gap on the garage door that he placed a barrier on that I had actually raised as an issue for rats with the first inspection and was told that it wasn’t really an issue. The cost of the work was only ever so slightly more expensive then my first estimate with All-​in-​One (maybe $ 100 – 150 difference), but the work was vastly more extensive. On top of that, I needed to have «before and after picks» of the work done to show my buyer that the problem was being addressed — Andrew took pictures that clearly showed the issues (meaning, he was able to show the grease/​oil from the animal on the building materials and sections of wood that had been gnawed on). And then the big kickers, first, no additional charges to monitor/​check traps, and second, and this was a huge deal to me (because again, I am selling my house), the work was guaranteed until the critters are gone or 1-​year.
«Got Rats» was referred to me by my real estate agent when I started having problems getting any of these other companies to show up on a timely basis. I wanted to write this review, because I knew in the business that I ran, that these reviews are becoming more and more how people make decisions on service needs of all types, but also, the other companies I initially contacted, I contacted based on their rankings and reviews. And based on the customer service I received in those instances, I question the validity/​truthfulness of those reviews. In addition to that, I noticed that within this niche industry, there appears to be one bad review for every one good review. My experience with «Got Rats» has been excellent so far — and based on what they offer, customer service, the actual rodent proofing and trapping and the service guarantee — I would strongly recommend them to anyone based on my interaction with 3 – 5 companies in this area offering the same service.

We’ve had roof rat issues for quite some time. I called exterminators and was told that it was impossible to seal our attic area. However, with traps and poison it looks like the problem was abated. I then called Got Rats to do the clean up. Got Rats gave me a good estimate and came out and did very good work. They also sealed up the attic. I was very pleased with the service they provided, which turned out to be a lot bigger than they though it would be. They kept to their estimate though!

We are disappointed. To be specific and fair, two of the guys were polite but the rest of our experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and confusing. It was a waste of time and money. $ 500 to put some screens on 2 or 3 small holes and catch one dead rat.
My complaints are in the following categories…
When ever I called, I got the impression of nothing but confusion and disorganization regarding inter office communication with in the company. Next most of the time I was the one initiating follow-​up to my simple questions.
The topic was: From the very start I just wanted to find out… from the initial phone call and even first visit do I have two choices to pick from?
1.) A deadly trap or a humane live catch and release trap? I said because if I can pick the better of the two, I strongly prefer the humane one and I am willing to pay extra to not kill if optional? I prefer to just remove and release. I even said if they they do not have those traps, I am open to ordering and paying for it even. The first perosn was nice and said it’s ok, they will take care of it. I asked over and over to confirm even.
2.) Next guy comes out to check on the traps and seems to be in a really bad mood and annoyed upon arrival for no reason. I’m understanding, I don’t judge, people have bad days… so I show him the area where the last guy put the humane trap supposedly. He looks at me like what are you taking about? There is no traps under there and we don’t even carry humane traps. So a waste if time…
I told him about the first visits etc… he said I don’t know what you are talking about, we don’t do that!
He says, so do u want me to put one down or not?
I was just as confused as him but I was patient, he seemed in a hurry and seemed annoyed like he was annoyed before he even got to me and he was there only a short time, like under 15 minutes.
Overall, I felt rushed so I said just put it down. I was hoping we really didn’t have any rats so I agreed. Basically, we were trying to see if there was any rats before we get the vents redone and sealed because I didn’t want one dying in the new vents cruelly and then start to smell. So that is the reason we called to begin with because the vent company said to find a rat prevention service first before they come in. So we didn’t have major issues, it was to find out if we had rats and and take preventative measures as well to keep them out or remove them if they did exist. That is the background for needing service.
So back to the process:
I called a few times throughout the process, they said I’ll get a call back, but didn’t. When they did actually call back, it was only to schedule someone to check on the trap. When put the trap down, i felt confised and kinda bad, so I called, left a message and then I wasn’t sure what to do… so I went online and ordered a humane trap but it didn’t make it in time, the one rat that was there got killed and that was it. If i could go back, i should have either not called ever or I would have needed to take charge and tell them exactly what to do instead of waiting on them to get back to me along with their lack of inter office communication. I am very understanding and patient person. People say I am too nice, maybe that might be part of the problem here but I just wanted someone to be direct and say yes we do or absolutely not we dont… I would respect that. It would have helped me know what to expect and decide what two options I have. Instead, I got confusion and left with the idea of the humane option but it didn’t occur. The last guy (3^rd one) was really nice and I nicely told him about all of this, he understood it didn’t go smoothly at all and said I should call the office. I said I already did etc…
He said it’s too bad headquarters doesn’t know, they need to know, especially since I am not the only he heard thus from… many others have inquired if there are two options to use humane traps instead?
I said I’d pay even if I had to drive to release myself. I felt it would be nice to have two choices for the clients. If you can make a better decision of the two, then why not? I said I just wanted to know what was going on? There was a communication break down and I didn’t feel I did not have much of an option for decisions because of all the confusion in the office which lead to my confusion as well so I just went along with whatever near the middle. The service we needed was such a simple job too! I had no infestation or anything horrible. I just wanted clarity and to know of two options if possible. I was flexible to accommodate as well if needed. I even purchased the humane one on Amazon, very inexpensive, but it was too late by the time I decided to do something.

Well, they charged me $ 600 and guess what??? I still GOT RATS — well squirrels to be exact. However, they came out and «sealed» all the holes around the house and I still heard the rodents in the walls. Called them out again and again (for over a year) until I just had to use someone else. Oh yea and the traps that they are supposed to come out and check every so often are still sitting up in my attic…

They came after i called to tell them we had rats in the attic. The guy looked for less than 10 seconds in the attic without a flashlight. He gave me a quote for 4 thousand dollars for changing the insulation in the attic. When i asked how he was going to get the rats out, he told me that they would just leave when they would do the insulation work. First time someone try so blatantly to rip me off.

Very clean and professional. All work completed ahead of schedule and the results have been excellent. Would recommend to anyone!

Got Rats did a fine job on sealing the house, I think and hope. The follow-​up was not good, however. They set traps in the attic and were to return to check the traps in a few days. I set the appointment between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. for a few days later. On the day of the appointment, nobody showed, nobody called. I called them not long after 9:00 a.m. and they apologized. Apparently there was a snafu on scheduling and the person simply forgot the appointment. I rescheduled for a few days later, again between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. arrival time.
Second appointment, 9:00 a.m., nobody shows, nobody calls. Again, I call them and get an apology. At 9:07 I get a return message that somebody will be at my house within 30 minutes, although the message indicated the person was roughly 30 miles away at another job. I elected not to wait a third time.
Would not recommend them.

I have only dealt with Brandon and he was great.
The neighbor’s cat chased a rat into my bathroom through the window. Couldn’t catch it myself and I tried everything. Electric traps, traps with cheese, peanut butter, even glue traps…
Got Rats couldn’t come for several days but, once there, Brandon re-​set two traps (with candy bars!) and guaranteed the rat would be dead by morning. Then he inspected my house; said it was sound and rat proof; didn’t recommend anything else. Doesn’t that seem honest? If he makes a recommendation for your house, I’d believe it. (I will be investing in window screens…)
Best of all, the bathroom dwelling rat was dead by midnight.

They came in and cleaned up a job that The Attic Guys had botched. Redid all the rodent proofing, got all the spaces under the deck and house, cleaned out under the house and re-​insulated our attic. Plus a 1 year gttee on no rodents.
They quoted a price and stuck to it. Rodent proofing now looks MUCH more professional and not an eyesore (ie on the roof edges etc).
I’ve already recommended them to a co-​workder.

Called Got Rats after I had some garage intruders and of course after my attempt to catch them failed. They sent a guy out very promptly to my location once they returned my call from Friday on Tuesday following the holiday weekend. Totally understandable. He showed me places the rats could come in and then we walked to the crawl space he did not open the door and then he opened the attic entrance took a flashlight and scanned the perimeter and said it was covered with rat droppings and that it was gonna be a big job. Quoted me a very large amount of money to have everything torn out and sanitized but it did not include the new insulation and the installment. The other option would just be to have the proofing done and the pricing on that was reasonable. I did seek another opinion and with that said was notified by the technician that I had no signs of rodent infestation in my attic. That the only reason to remove it would be due to the type it was and the fire hazard it created along with the fact that there was a bunch of insulation creating ventilation deficiency. He quoted me $ 1300.00 less then got rats and it included new insulation and installment as well as rodent proofing.

An update – good news caught the little guy, bad news is got rats accidentally let him go. Better news I bought an electric trap and Jerry was «gone» the next day.
Overall they appear to have done a good job of rat proofing the house… no more are getting in, but it took a long time to get Jerry and we had a poor experience with scheduling appointments. They appear to be over scheduled. Cost was way too high.

Initially last year, the service was great, did a comprehensive job on a difficult house. I recently had another pest company up in my attic to deal with yellow jackets. I warned them to watch out for the traps that had been placed to monitor new activity. I was advised there were no traps in the attic. Question? if they looked and there was no trap why didn’t they go look for it? And if they didn’t see the trap wouldn’t they put one up there? There were multiple follow up visits by several different employees who couldn’t be bothered.
