Description

Specialties

Concord’s only independent bookstore, we specialize in intelligent entertainment across a variety of fields. We have a full events calendar, which you can find at www.gibsonsbookstore.com. Gibson’s moved to its new, 10,000 square foot location in September 2013.

History

Established in 1898.

Gibson’s started as a family bookstore in 1898, and has had only five sets of owners since then, so its roots are deep in the Concord community. The current owner, Michael Herrmann, bought the store in 1995. He and his team of buyers do all of the buying for the store, so every book in stock has been bought with Concord in mind. Because we don’t have room for all of the many thousands of books published every year, we place a special emphasis on special orders, making sure that we get them in as quickly as possible – often the day after they’re ordered. But because we’ve recently moved to a much larger space – over 10,000 square feet – we do have room for many thousands of titles of all kinds, and we have a roomy and spacious store with lots of comfortable seating.
