Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff

This is a great place to purchase comic books and has a knowledgeable staff. We are frequent customers and love the store and the employees. They have a great Facebook page that keeps you up to date about events. I wish you could bottle the smell of brand new comic books. You must visit this comic book store.

Soooooo… when I went in yesterday… BTW. I’ve been by this place a total, super, plethorally amount of times… until. well YESTERDAY.I remember seeing the ads on TV with the owners daughter, of course I forgot her name, this was about 18 years ago. Time machine…
Present day. year 2016.yes it is.so.when I walked in yesterday I knew one thing I was going to buy, a bumper sticker that has a finger pointing from a hand, and the bumper sticker reads” Get off your damn phone!”
I love that! Isn’t that great!!! To many stupid, law braking, idiot morons use cell phones. WHILE DRIVING. IT IS ILLEGAL YOU SELFISH IDIOTS!!! Hang up the phone and try driving!!!
Any how. I’m not one that buys comics ever. I might go to the Comic Con in March in San Jose though, should be fun. I wasn’t really totally impressed with the service I got yesterday. THIS IS REVEIW 500…

Professional and friendly staff, plus the store has a wide range of comics. Above all, the interesting or unheard of recommendations from the staff give you new and exciting directions to take in your journey through the comic book multiverse!

There’s more to this shop than just a great staff, each of whom is always ready to help you with any questions, special orders, or concerns regarding baseball. There is also history. Go on in & chat with the owner, Joe. He will tell you fascinating & hilarious stories.
They also host some of the best events and signings anywhere (and that includes conventions)

The store extremely organized and has a tremendous selection of comic books. The customer service is excellent. The staff is very attentive and they have a tremendous knowledge of comic book history! Ill be back again. Try their store. You’ll be glad you did!

Best comic shop ever! I have been coming here since I was a kid. Everybody is really friendly too. Makes me not want to move out of the area ever because there will never be a comic shop like this one!

Such a helpful staff!!! I go here for gifts often and the staff always helps me find the perfect comic or graphic novel! Lots of options although I’ve heard other wise from friends that are a little more hard core into comics, and I love the local comic store feel.

The Best Comic shop in the East Bay! Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they have the best events and signings. It’s why I’ve come here for decades!

Best comic shop in the Bay Area hands down. Well stocked, clean and organized. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. They also stock Absolute and Omnibus editions, Hardcovers, Humanoids books etc. which are usually special orders for other shops. I’m not familiar with toys but they sell some as well.

My husband and I went here for free comic book day. We dressed up in Marvel characters and took pictures with the crowd. We had the best time. The owner and his family were just wonderful. Great selection on comics and just an all around great store.

This is a pretty decent but a bit smaller comic book store. They have tons of figurines and a pretty solid selection of comics. I enjoy their wall of old and expensive comics (kind of like a museum of sorts). The staff is very nice and enjoy striking a conversation about anything comic related. At one point they were selling comic books by weight and getting rid of tons of comics which was pretty cool (though I don’t think they are doing that anymore). Overall great little shop!

Such a cool spot and although I am not usually the one purchasing items, my daughter and her dad have become regulars here. He is adding to his 1000 plus collection of comic books and we are starting her off on hers.
I like the fact that the staff is very friendly and informative, also if there is a particular book they don’t have in stock the will try and order for you!

Growing up I was never a big comic book reader. I was familiar with characters from Marvel, DC, and even Dark Horse comics because my older brother was a big comic reader and collector. Stepping through the doors of Flying Colors really was like stepping back in time to my childhood.
I immediately walked up to the counter to ask the guy behind it if he would like me to leave my back pack up there before looking around the store. He pointed to a stack up cubbies by the front door and told me I could leave it in one of those.
Like most comic shops they sell an immense variety of comic novelties, including: Posters, toys, stickers, buttons, magnets, key chains, glassware, more toys, t-​shirts, and lots more. A lot of the stuff is modern, but they also have quite a bit of vintage stuff, mostly behind the counter or hanging up on the walls.
I browsed for a good twenty minutes. Admiring titles that I remembered growing up with, as well as newer ones including one called «SPREAD», which really called out to me seeing as it was very reminiscent of John Carpenters The Thing.
There were two employees working. One, stood at the back counter and never actually said anything to me, just stared. The other one was Andy. A very cool guy who I talked with for a little bit when I first walked in. From hearing him talk to another customer he sounds very knowledgeable about comics (obviously), plus he’s very customer friendly.

Came in to check out a new comic book shop. Did not disappoint at all. Clean store with plenty of space and a variety of displays. I wandered over to the $ 8 hardcover bins and I stumbled upon a Battle of the Atom (10 issues). I thought it had to be a mistake. An employee saw me looking through it and pointed out that 4 pages were torn on one corner. $ 60 cover price? I’ll take it!

Our fellow Unilocaler Suzy S. has a very talented son who is an illustrator and who just released a new graphic novel (along with at least one collaborator). I am one of those kinds of girls– you know the kind who likes sci-​fi (not vampire stuff or horror) and who has had several friends who worked in the Comic Store business and one whom I grew up with that has his own GN along with other offerings.
I have driven by this shopping center several times never realizing there was a comic store facing the street. Parking was easy and upon walking in, was greeted like an old friend. This is not a seedy dark comic store with a bunch of pervs like they try to show on Big Bang Theory, nor is it pretentious.
I had a lot of fun meeting Suzy’s son and getting his autograph and getting his latest and then ended up picking up the sequel to the GN «Bone» for my DD and another GN by my childhood friend that I didn’t have (he was very impressed this shop had his old GN). To my old friends who did the comic book store work in Berkeley for oh so many years, this is quite a gem of a place and I hope it is around for a very long time.

Fantastic selection of every kind of comic imaginable. Staff was warm and friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.

For those who have been longtime readers or newbies starting out, this is a great place if you have any interest in anything comic book related. They have tons of comic books, graphic novels, posters, action figures, and lots of other neat things.
The staff is very friendly and will ask you if you need any help finding anything. They’re also readers too and it’s cool that you can chat with them about anything comic book related.
The store is pretty organized as well. The sections for the major publishers, such as Marvel and DC, are up front while the more lesser known companies are towards the back. They also have helpful tabs that tell you what came out last week or new this week.
When you buy your stuff, they’ll ask you for your name and e-​mail so you’ll be in their system. You can ask them if you bought a certain issue which is helpful so you don’t buy two of the same books twice. Bags and boards are also sold separately for $.25 each.
Some special guests have shown up as well. The very popular Stan Lee (everything Marvel) and Jim Lee (comic book artist) have visited this location. It’s pretty cool if you’re in the area. However, there might be a certain fee to see them (depending on the guest) and the wait may be long. I had to get a friend of mine to get some books signed for me by Jim Lee because I had to go somewhere after waiting in line for a couple of hours.
I like this store a lot and I think you will too! Great staff, lots of neat stuff, and friendly atmosphere makes this place great!
