I had the Drobatzes do my front and back yards. The materials and finished product all look smashing. Their crew was terrific. I never felt uncomfortable with them around. They started promptly at 7:30 and quit at 4:30. But it was Kim’s and Paul’s attention to detail; the little things, that brings a smile. It’s all top notch. Go with them. You won’t be sorry!

I left a message regarding several phases in my backyard landscaping. I have not heard back from them as of yet. They may be busy, but after work hours, calls should be made at least to acknowledge the request.

Very Professional and down to earth. The whole team went above and beyond in quality and craftsmanship. Coming from working in the construction industry I witnessed things that most contractors lack.
Kim Drobatz was the first face to face contact for the project. We sat down with her and discussed our concerns, needs and wishes. After our sit down discussion we walked through the blank backyard for a more visual/​hands on discussion. Kim was super easy and friendly to work with. Her design experience shines on paper. Do to some personal family matters Kim had to take care of, we did not see her often on the project, but given the situation, we fully understood. When the plants arrived Kim was the one to place the plants and explain to the crew what to do.
Paul Drobatz and the crew are whom we saw the most through out the project. Pauls humble words do not speak loud enough about the quality of the crews craftsmanship or the quality of materials used. Through out the project, I was able to see that Paul and the crew know how to apply past experience to current projects, unlike most contractors today. The completed project shows the many years experience the Drobatz team has.
Through out the project, several other subs were involved in the work. The team was more than willing to work with and around the other subs. With four children, this made our lives that much more easier. Paul had many recommendations through out the project and with out those recommendations, the back yard may not have come together the way it did. «BEAUTIFULL!»
We had two change orders to the project after the project started. Unlike most contractors who charge an arm and a leg for change orders, Drobutz charged a very reasonable price. One of the change orders was on a subbed out separate project we had done during our landscaping, but we needed to keep it on the low side of price so we discussed or willingness to skimp on the quality of the materials used and they came through 100%! Even with the expected and agreed on lower quality for a lower price, the quality of the completed item will last us many years.
I am not a detail oriented person at all, I do not have the patience to deal with the little details, but I have to say that for some one who lacks the personal trait for details, I noticed the details of our completed backyard. The heavy duty wire used for vines to train and grow on, the black rocks that cover the drainage caps. The unquestionable willingness to do things on a minutes notice like installing our above ground pool ladder for my children so they could go swimming during the weekend. The stainless steel electrical panel used for the low voltage lighting. The vegetable garden planter box. Who builds a planter box these days so it will last 15 years.

We discovered Drobatz & Co. through a friend in Alamo whose landscaping we had always admired. After meeting with Kim to go over our wish list for a complete remodeling of our front, back and side yards, she came back with a couple of designs that ranged from contemporary to traditional. We absolutely loved the contemporary design, but still weren’t sure whether to use Paul to implement the design. We’re absolutely thrilled that we decided to hire Paul for the construction as well.
From the beginning, the advantages of having a designer and contractor working closely as a team were evident, as design changes could be quickly quoted and incorporated without incurring undue delays. This included the last-​minute addition of a full-​sized bocce ball court into the design.
I think one of the many keys to the Drobatz’s success is hiring great people. Paul’s foreman, Vicente, and every member of the crew showed the kind of attention to detail and quality workmanship you would expect if they were working on their own homes. Every day of the 5-​monthy project, the crew was ready to start exactly at 7:30a, was responsive to requests as small as repotting plants or moving the location of lighting and left our house tidy and organized at the end of the day.
In the end, the project was completed on time, on budget, and has made our house the envy of the neighborhood… what more could you ask for? I’ve already referred Kim and Paul Drobatz to several friends and admiring neighbors, and am more than happy to recommend them to others here on Unilocal

Kim and Paul designed a complete overhaul of our entire yard, starting with an amazing design from Kim. What was terrific is Kim listened to what we clearly needed, including a design that would survive two very large, active dogs, and was simple with multiple areas for various purposes. That design included a pulling plants away from the fence to make way for a track for the dogs to race around on — and it doesn’t distract at all from the design. Paul is old school and gets the infrastructure right, building to last forever. Things that only come with years of experience, like very good materials, running your sprinklers off the main line so they don’t make noises in the house, etc. Amazing crew foreman, Vincente, is an artist with stone, professional, and super hard working. He is a class act. Worked alongside various crews also remodeling the house with no problems. They’ve done three yards already in our neighborhood, and consistently the service has been excellent AFTER the job is complete with questions answered, a full maintenance plan, etc. Also appreciated complete budget transparency — this is what everything costs, line by line, and option ranges depending on materials. There were zero surprises, even when they discovered issues they just got solved. If you want the best, you’ll want Drobatz.

We called and Kim came right over to discuss and offer assistance and ideas for the landscaping for our new home in Lafayette. We are excited about their expertise and very professional attitude towards our project.

Just finished going over our landscaping plan with Kim and am super excited to see it come to fruition soon! I found Kim on Google, looked at her online portfolio and decided to email her right away. Kim contacted us the very next day to set up a site visit. She came to our house at 7:00AM in the rain to fit my busy morning work schedule! Right away, I had a feeling I had made the right choice. I had no idea what to do with my yard (I just wanted no more weeds!), but Kim started throwing out some wonderful ideas and a vision soon developed. Turnaround was lightning quick — less than a couple of days. With Kim you get someone that knows what she’s talking about which puts you at ease knowing your garden is in a professional’s hands. We are extremely satisfied with our front yard and have only the highest praise for the Kim and Paul Drobatz, owners of the company! Kim, the landscape architect, spent much time with me discussing plants and landscape elements before designing a beautiful yard. Her husband Paul, the landscaper, worked with my husband to make sure that drainage and many of our problem areas were addressed. We were introduced to the on-​site supervisor, Vicente, on the first day of tear out, and he worked closely with Paul so that every concern was dealt with immediately. Paul kept us advised of what would happen next every step of the way, so we always knew what to expect. I cannot imagine a better team to work with, plus they are really fun and nice people as well!
