Brickyard Building Materials

I purchased my pavers from this location, they have good prices and a large variety of stones. This seem more the kind of place contractor would go to but I had no issues getting help and all my questions were answered.

I have now used the Brickyard for paver supplies twice, and both times I could not have been happier with the service, support and product. Three years ago I had 500sf of pavers installed in the backyard and just this week I ordered the same product for another 140sf project. It was so easy to order, they took care of all the math for the pattern I wanted. It arrived exactly in the window they said it would and my timelines stayed on track. I will absolutely be calling again for any future projects and recommend the same.

Don’t usually post on Unilocal but I was surprised by the mediocre reviews. I’m a first time home owner and have done 2 patio projects and a retaining well since 2012. Everything was purchased through Brickyard. Competitive rates. I felt they gave enough help for me to do it on my own even though I had no prior experience. No surprises with the material I received. I did search around other places between each project but always came back to the brickyard. Plan to continue using them in the future if needed.

My contractor warned me not to purchase from this place he said they were awful to work with. Wished I’d listened. Customer service was fine as long as I was paying lots of money and there are absolutely no glitches. However, I’m in the middle of a huge fiasco. Stone that was promised to me 2 days ago now isn’t available for two weeks. A smaller order that was promised to at the same time was guaranteed to me yesterday «delivered by the manager personally». And of course, that didn’t happen. I had To CALL THEM to find out where it was and again another excuse. He didn’t even have the common courtesy to pick up the phone and let me know that «he had truck problems» and couldn’t deliver the stone. Do they not have any other store vehicles? Ridiculous. And to top it off, not an offer to try to make it right!!! And this is supposed to be a manager. Horrible customer service. Guarantee you the owner will be hearing from me as well. They’ve cost me money and lost me time on my project that should have been finished by next week I Will NEVER purchase from them again, would absolutely NOT recommend you do either. Spend the extra gas and go to Morgans in San Ramon.

We recently bought over 700 square feet of pavers from the Brickyard. We made our selection after looking at all their sample vignettes and reading the Basalite booklet. The pavers were very nice in the samples and the picture. They arrived on six pallets. I noticed that the pavers on one pallet had many white spts on them that I thought were due to bird splatter. Since they pick out the pavers to deliver to you, there is no way to pick out clean pavers. I was annoyed that they would sell dirty pavers but decided that once they were installed I would wash them and they would be fine.
The white spots were even more evident after being installed. I spent several hours scrubbing them with water and a mild soap and the white spots remained (see picture I posted). I sent a message to them asking how to remove the white spots. I received a response from a Lorenzo Galvan. He provided an elaborate recipe for a solution you make with vinegar, water and detergent and then use to scrub them. He added that I would then need to rinse them with a baking soda solution (no recipe provided) to counteract the acidity from the first solution.
I wrote back and said that I was very disappointed that they would sell a product that needed so much work to look nice. Here is his response copied directly from his message to me:
«Sorry that you feel that way but we just sell the material and don’t make it, if you really fell that way you might want to send an email to the manufacture. Once again sorry about all the work you have to go through.»
I am incredulous that this is their response. Obviously, they take no responsibility for the products they sell and the condition in which they are delivered. Their customer service in the store is minimal at best (if you don’t know what to ask they are impatient and terse) but this response is the worst example of business practice I have ever experienced. I will not buy from them again.

Bought culture stone only less than 100sq ft was raining so I had seen the display in their show room and bought the stone I needed, So the yard guys had loaded the stone it was raining pretty hard and stone was wet so I Figure it was darker due to the rain than the sample board in the office, kept in the bed of my truck which has a tuneau cover to keep material dry, it rained 4 more days so I could not install.
Well when the sun came out I started to remove stone and notice it’s still darker than the sample board, the stone is dry! So I took it back to them and told them I am not looking for a refund I just want to exchange the rock it does not match the stone on the board and which will not match my stone on the wall, They still have the nerve to tell me too bad we do not exchange culture stone! My issue the guy that sold it to me just walk away like he did not want to deal with me anymore and like I was a piece of dodo now!
I brought 6 pieces of stone and put the board of their sample next to each other and they could see how bad it was and still had the nerve to say you could get a hold of the supplier and they could send a rep out and you could work it out with them! Are you kidding me it’s not like I have 500sq ft of stone its just less than 100sq ft. They could not even do that. Here is a thought how about you take the stone back and you tell the manufacture to work with you on it since you buy so much from them they could credit you much easier than me it’s your supplier!
I showed them the stone in the back of my truck which is the same order that they loaded it in and they agreed to take back with a 20% restocking fee I felt ripped off and told them that the sign that says no returns suck its on 1 wall behind 1 counter and the other counter which is in a different area where I did my business has nothing and the guy selling it to me never said once you take it it yours so make sure it matches.
It seems like they are all scared of the owner which just sits there and says nothing. Agree the guys in the yard awesome but the people that are in doing the selling are eager to take money and will say anything not to give back! So sad!
Will not do any more business there!

Excellent service as they brought me my 5 gallon bucket of sealer and put it in my trunk within 5 minutes of me arriving here. Lots of pavers and rock to choose from.

I agree with the review that it’s not always about the product. My husband and I went to The Brickyard several times before choosing pavers for our back yard. Each time we entered the store, we felt unwelcomed. We aren’t well versed in the art of buying bricks so we had many quesitons. They were answered intelligently but we had the overwhelming feeling that we were on our own. We asked if someone could walk with us to the display area outside and that didn’t go over very well.
We did end up purchasing from them. Now that we are done and need them to pick-​up the extra pavers, we are told that we have to wait a week. We tried to explain to them that we are having a graduation party on the weekend but they couldn’t care less and wouldn’t budge.
I feel like we spent a lot of money at their yard. Maybe not as much as others but it was big for us. So disappointed in their customer service.

If it was all about masonry material and supplies, I’d give this place five stars because I always find everything I need here.
But, unfortunately, it’s not always all about the product.
— Dock one star for they’re not being open on Sundays. That really sucks if you are a do-​it-​yourselfer-​but-​only-​on-​the-​weekend-​person like me.
— Dock another star for the non-​customer-​service-​having blond lady that works at the desk. She doesn’t smile and she seems irritated when you ask questions. The first couple times I’ve had to deal with her, I thought «That’s okay. She must be having a bad day …» or «She’s probably really busy or something …» But, no, she’s been like that every time.

The staff in the office has mediocre customer service at best. The first older gentleman was informative but cold and unfriendly. The last young woman who gave me pricing never smiled and appeared to be in a bad mood. However, the hispanic man who helped me pick out flagstone in the supply yard was patient, knowledgeable and was glad to help.

I went to the Brickyard when I was shopping for flagstone for a new patio. I was approached by a man who answered my questions, and then asked if I was going to install over a hard surface, or over gravel and sand, and told me I’d need the thicker flagstone for my application, or it would crack. Before that, I didn’t even know there were different thicknesses! Without that advice I’d have probably bought (somewhere else) the less expensive thinner stone, which would have failed! I’ve also gotten great advice on cleaners, sealers, etc. They don’t make a woman feel out of place here. A great place, and they have my business from now on.

Easily the best masonry/​stone supplier in the Bay Area. Everything you need without having to order pallets of it. Great service and overall spectacular place

We recently bought some blocks here for a retaining wall my husband built. They were great to work with and even threw in the pins for free! We will defiantly keep this place in mind for our next project.

I love this place. They have a really nice show room where you can get ideas. I stole their idea of a small retaining block seating wall and used it in my backyard. They were very knowledgable and helpful and were able to give me all the information I needed to do it right.
Next I want to tackle my paver patio. I will defiantly be going back for some more information and materials.

This seems to be a rock-​solid place to get masonry materials. I’ve been here before but don’t do that much with masonry so it’s sporadic. Anyway, they seem to have just about all you’d need for brick/​stone/​concrete stuff, and they seem to be plenty helpful. Hard to know about prices, because this isn’t everyday stuff you buy, but it seems to be reasonable. It’s fun to look at all the samples and let your mind envision a really cool project.

Need bricks, mortar, paving. The place to go for all your masonry supplies. All you need to build your own BBQ pit, masonry wall and more.

The Brickyard is a really nifty fabulous place for those of us «do it yourselfers». This place is an idea mecca for pavers, rocks and basically anything you’d need to build:
— BBQ
— retaining wall
— driveway
— garden path
— fire pit
I was a little overwhelmed at first. There are tons of sample areas set up, along with some «how to» classes. This is not a plush customer service experience. It’s a roll up your sleeves, inhale the dust and wait in line for a somewhat sassy consultation. These guys cater to contractors, but you can pepper them with questions and they’re very helpful.
It took me 3 trips of looking, 2 trips to the counter for consultations & 1 phone call to order everything I needed for our new fire pit.
Now, if they’d just sell some worker elves, I’d be all set!
