Alpine Pastry & Cakes

We’ve been here a couple of times, first for breakfast pastries and coffee which were both good.
The last time was to order a cake for a friend’s retirement party. The counterperson was patient and helpful in explaining all of the many options for cake, filling, icing, and decoration. We went with a marble cake with raspberry filling and a vanilla buttercream icing, and the cake turned out great! Not a bargain price, but miles better in quality than what you get at the supermarket. The cake had great texture, the filling had a lot of flavor and they used plenty of it, and the buttercream was rich without being too thick or sweet.
We’d definitely order a cake again from Alpine for any kind of special event, and are looking forward to trying some of their great-​looking cookies and European style cakes too.

Going here for many years; although this is a new location. They just did a vestigial birthday cake for me. I also picked up a few bear claws. As usual they were outstanding! Very nice young lady helped me out and hand wrote a message on the cake. She had great customer service skills. I’ll be back!

Ordered a baby shower cake here recently. The cake looked really nice but everyone thought that the chocolate cake itself tasted too sweet and It was also kind of dry. The carrot cake was pretty good. Nothing to write home about though. I prob would not get my cakes here again.

Thank you Alpine Bakery! Great job on cake decorations for our new nursing graduate! We were impressed by the details and the white cake, strawberry filling and fondant was so yummy! All the guests enjoyed the taste and there was nothing left!

I got my sons first birthday cake from Alpine. The staff was friendly, accommodating and very helpful in finding just what I wanted for the design! I paid for the cake and set a pick up time. A week later (on Memorial Day weekend) my sister went to Alpine to pick it up and not only was it EXACTLY what we wanted, Alpine even made a matching smash cake for my little guy to go to town on!
On top of everything else, the cake was delicious! Vanilla with custard filling and strawberries. Yum!!!
I couldn’t have been happier and will definitely be using Alpine for all my future pastry needs!

Super nice staff! We stopped in to buy a cake for a party… such a great selection! Everyone loved the cake and our kids loved the two treats we bought to take home to our family. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I had them do our cupcake tower for our wedding in March 2016. The guests could not stop RAVING about how much they loved them! We didn’t even have leftovers after the wedding!

I was in the area debating on boba or strbx, spotted this new spot & gave it a try.
Purchased 2 white choco chip cookies
1 alfajor.
1 iced coffee (terrible!)
Cookies were okay. Not very moist. $ 1.40 each

What made me write this review was the iced coffee. $ 3.10 for WATER! Once the girl placed it on the counter I suspected it, but didn’t want to be rude. The color was super translucent. I asked her what kind of coffee they used, and her response was its «our drip coffee» okay but is it dark roast, morning blend what? Then she points to the old school coffee carafes that you press the top to dispense coffee. 2^nd clue that the coffee is probably old & bitter by 4:30ish.
Anyways, I paid $ 6.35 for my goods & then added a bit of half & half to my «iced coffee» tasted it & WATER with half & half. I poured out a bit & asked the girl to add more coffee because it tasted very watered down. She started to add more ice & I asked no ice because that will further dilute the already watered down coffee.
Honestly, this is a reason why chain coffee shops are so popular. Consistent & quality products. I would rather go to a local business & pay more, but I expect quality. And for employees to be aware of the quality that is being served. I’ll stick to sweet affair for my future indulgences. Hope the owner reads this & really considers why they are charging $ 3.10 for the same coffee just because they add ice. It’s not fresh coffee & it’s quite offensive if you are specializing in coffee, cakes & pastries.

If I could choose a place that has all of my favorite sweets in one place, I think Alpine would be it. There’s a wide variety of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, macarons, pastries, pies, and chocolates to choose from. I’ve tried their Tiramisu — best in town, we’ve ordered their princess cake a number of times, and their Chocolate cakes are just as exciting.
But above all else, You have to try the Bavarian Cream. My most recent visit consisted of inhaling one of those right after purchase. Unsure of what exactly I was taking a chance on, I left with the absolute most satisfied sweet tooth in all of mankind.
They’re moving locations, so I can’t speak on how busy things will get, but just know that they are always fully stocked throughout the day. But don’t skip out on this local bakery!

Visited recently in search of gluten free delights for a birthday. Wow, they really delivered! The almond layer cake with raspberries was decadent and delicious, a huge hit with the birthday girl! Also sampled a bit of their flourless chocolate cake and found it to be excellent. More like a brownie than the super dense thing you normally find. The other traditional baked goods looked great and the decorated cakes were particularly impressive, will be back for future special events. The people behind the counter were quick, friendly and full of good advice. They move to a new location in April 2016, so double check if you’re going around that time.

It was between 2 or 3 stars, and I decided to opt for 2 stars.
This place has lots of great reviews on Unilocal.It’s close to where I am at, and it has delicious pastries. So how can I NOT try out this place?
I decide to come after work, which happens to be a rainy day. I get 6 cupcakes (caramel, carrot and red velvet, 2 of each kind), custard horn, and a princess cake slice. They bag everything to my liking. I asked for a plastic bag since it’s raining. They don’t have plastic bags here. They said due to the new law or something. I am new to the area, so I didn’t know Concord didn’t have plastic bags. Last time I checked, someone said Concord still does plastic bags but anyways, I have to walk out in the pouring rain with my boxes of pastry. Luckily, nothing fell on my part but the box did get wet. Boo. It didn’t affect the quality of anything though.
I come home and first thing I do is take a bite of the princess cake. I take a bite, it’s okay. I take another bite. Then, I realized to myself, it’s okay — mediocre at best. I would never buy this cake again. Most of you who read this review are probably in this area or from East Bay, but the BEST PRINCESS CAKE ever is in Sacramento. Ettores makes the best princess cake, and I always think another princess cake will taste the same. No other princess cake has lived up to Ettore’s Princess Cake. Their cake is so good, I can’t even describe how great it is. The portions, the sweetness, everything about it is amazing. I have introduced so many people to it and they agree it’s amazing.
As for the cupcake, I didn’t think of them too fondly either. They just remind me of cupcakes I can make at home with a mix. Eh.
I don’t think i’ll bother to make my way back to this place. I suppose if you live in Concord and really wanted pastries, you can opt for this place. It’s not that great and not worth the price either.

I’m new to the area and needed to order a cake for my boyfriend’s birthday and wasn’t sure where where to order from. My friend recommended Alpine and I was so happy she did.
I brought in a photo of what I was looking for and they matched the photo perfectly! I ordered a marble cake with raspberry filling and it was delicious. Our friends still talk about the cake and how great it was.

So.confession. I didn’t physically go here. My co worker overheard me saying champagne cake is my favorite cake and during my birthday week, she came here on her lunch break to get one. She lives local (I don’t) and highly praised this bakery. I must say. AMAZING! Their Champagne cake was the best I’ve ever had. Very moist, fluffy, the perfect touch of sweetness. It was heavenly! The entire office agrees with me.
I’m thankful she exposed me to this bakery. I plan to visit soon and try more cakes.

ALPINE PASTRY YOU ROCK!!! Here’s why – they have two signs in here encouraging customers to NOT USE CELL PHONE WHILE IN THE STORE – I love it, Sooooo – I told the gal working there wouldn’t it be great if people actually did that and they ad on to the sign also don’t do so when driving the car idiot, it’s against the law moron!!!
Alright, so, what did I order? a carrot cake cupcake, a little cookie, and an apple fritter, which I’m sure I’ll have one of these item’s later. Thanks so much Alpine pastry to encourage people to not be rude by talking on the cell phone in the store – That’s awesome!!! I hope it catches on!!!

Of the ready made items they have a large selection of large decorated sugar cookies, miscellaneous cookies, pies, and some cookies. The specialty cookies are what we usually buy such as lace cookies, elephant ears, and meringue cookies. You can buy cookies buy weight so it is easy to purchase a variety for work, special events, or parties. Specialty cakes and other sweet orders can be made for special occasions.

I recently ordered a cake for my daughters first birthday! I had my own design and layout, so I took the picture in when I placed the order. They quoted me at around $ 265 for a two tier cake and a mini smash cake. When I went to finalize the order, I was told the total was $ 465!!! Apparently my cake was «too detailed» and the smash cake was extra to have it 7″ (instead of the CUPCAKE they quoted me for as the smash cake). I paid the amount since I didn’t have time to order from anywhere else.
I picked up the cake and the lady who helped me was super sweet and helpful. The cake was beautiful.
Taste wise is was HORRIBLE! The cake was dry, tasteless and a few guest at my party informed me that they found hair in their cake! Hair in the cake is completely unprofessional! What happened to hairnets?
Also, they didn’t write my daughters name anywhere on the cake!
Total waste of $ 465! I feel ripped off for something totally not worth it!

This place is great! I used to get my Thanksgiving and Halloween pies at Marie Callenders, but when they went belly up I started getting my pies here. I wish that I had known how great this place was all those years.
C and I only buy baked goods for special occasions, so Alpine Pastry is now her go-​to spot for cookies, etc.
The shop is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered myself a princess cake slice. After that I had a little bit of their chocolate brownie. Ittle is all just so amazing.
The service was really good. They have a nice little area in the back left that allows you to sit down and enjoy all of their delicious baked goods.
I would recommend this to anybody who wants to indulge and some delicious pantries.

Woody Allen once said that tradition is the illusion of permanence. Especially to family and loved ones, starting and establishing traditions is of particular import. It gives a sense of home and permanence, which is what being in a family should be like.
With that being said, one of our family traditions is ordering our cake from Alpine. My daughter’s baptism, her first and subsequent birthdays, my wedding, my after-​separation consolation treat, my nieces’ birthdays, milestone birthdays… For all these occasions, Alpine is our go-​to bakery. The cakes are always delicious — moist, soft, and just really good. My favorite is marble cake with custard filling with whipped cream icing. They also make beautiful cakes that always become the centerpiece of the birthday spread.
They also have scrumptious tea cookies and other goodies like pies, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. All of them are good, but their cakes will always be what I will be returning to them for again and again.
After all, an event without Alpine cake is most definitely not an O family tradition. And we are all about providing everyone in the family a sense of permanence. Luckily for us, Alpine provides us a delicious way of doing so.

T’was a late afternoon, a day before the Memorial Day Monday at about 4:20pm. Driving towards the place, the gf says, «One of these day I’m gonna try them.» Referring to Alpine.
I reply with, «Well, they’ve got to be good if they’re open this late for a pastry shop. AND if we try them now, we’ll know never to come back again or not.» She proceeded by busting a U-​turn.
We park, walk in, and BOOM! (I’m singing) Come with me, and you’ll be. In a world of pure imagination!!! OK OK, it was far from looking like Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, but it did give me that Willy Wonka feeling all over again. Talk about PASTRY WONDERLAND! My eyes wanted to eat everything!
Here’s what we chose:
~ Pinch cookies with apricot: Loved’em!
~ Florentines: I think Godiva set the standard for florentines, but I loved their version too!
~ Lemon cookes: Shortbread love! See where I’m goin’ with this?
~ Coconut Scones: THE VERY BEST! Like eating a girl scout cookie samoas, only fresh!
~ Long-​john cookies: You gotta try these! Crispy sweet with every bite. I would get these every time!
~ All of these went well with a ‘late in the day’ holiday weekend coffee.
Next time, I’m tryin’ the Bavarrian cream puff, a Dutch crips, some meringue cookies, a lemon bar, a few rumball, and some eclairs. Yeah, eclairs!
Also love the fact that they have various cakes too. They have a ‘no-​gluten’ almond or chocolate crinkle cake, white cakes, chocolate cakes, cupcakes, birthday cakes, tiramisu, and everyone’s favorite; Custom wedding cakes.
Now price-​wise, they seem pretty standard since they specialize in all types of pastries. Check out some of my pics for a few prices. The only thing I didn’t see were the croissant types, other than fruit danishes. And as far as service, no issues. Everyone was helpful. One of the ladies even mentioned, «We’ve been here forty years! We’re not goin’ anywhere!» Now that’s tellin’ ya something!
