ACS Air Conditioning Systems

I found ACS a year ago on Unilocal after going through a number of AC repair people and still having the same problem of our Air Conditioner randomly shutting down. George came out quickly in the heat of the summer, was able to correctly diagnose the problem and provided a quick affordable repair on our Carrier AC unit. Our unit previously would blow the circuit breaker randomly and has since ran flawless for over a year. Thank you George for the great service and competent repair!

My A/​C was no good due to refrigerant lines leaking underground. After «interviewing» 4 contractors (2 Carrier/​Payne dealers, 2 Bryant dealers), I narrowed down to 2. I almost went with another company, but after speaking to Ronnie about the HERS test, I decide to go with ACS and I’m happy I did. FYI, ACS has the second lowest bid. It’s also worth mention that ACS is the only company that’s willing to give me a quote on AC w/​o furnace, others refuse to quote on the AC unless I replace the furnace as well. But nevertheless, I ended up having ACS replace the 30 year old furnace along with A/​C. Ronnie is very accommodating to my concerns regarding running new refrigerant lines. But it turns out no sheetrock was cut open thanks to Joe & Jose, so I’m quite happy about that.
Joe is great. He is extremely patient with all my questions. Questions like «will you purge the lines w/​nitrogen to keep the inside lines clean?», and «what method do you use to adjust the refrigerant?» … (yes, I did my homework to ensure proper install). Joe really knows what he’s doing. He also pointed out that the vent register in the kitchen was installed in reverse because the air is supposed to be blowing downward, not upward and he fixed it.
Despite the miscommunication regarding lineset covers, Joe came back out today and installed the hat channel. It’s definitely not as easy as it looks because of the tight space. Also with the downspout and window frame getting in the way. But Joe managed to pull through with Justin’s help. Now it looks so much better.
Choosing a HVAC contractor to replace your A/​C can be stressful. Been there done that. I can say with confidence that you can rely on ACS for good work & reasonable price.

What can I say, Ronnie and the installers at ACS are at the top of their game. After getting a couple other quotes (including Costco’s local contractor for HVAC — what a joke) and doing some research of my own, I decided to call ACS. They’re a Carrier dealer, which is great as I was more interested their Infinity system than Lennox’s comparable offering.
Early on in the consultation I could tell Ronnie knew his stuff and wasn’t just «a salesman.» He was very comfortable answering technical questions and thoroughly covered our options so we could make the best decision for ourselves, which wasn’t terribly easy considering a whole system costs about as much as a new compact car! Over the next few months we worked on getting finances together as these systems cost quite a bit more than we were expecting (our area doesn’t qualify for the HERO program) and making sure there weren’t any questions or concerns we were overlooking (of which Ronnie was always quick to answer through email). ACS was also willing to make some significant discounts to accommodate our budget.
Installation day arrives and the team shows up on time and ready to work. Unfortunately, upon mockup of the new system my wife and I were not happy with how the larger than existing a/​c unit obstructed part of our walkway and looked out of place. Again, Ronnie and the team came through with some options for relocating the unit and worked with us on the cost of that also.
A month later and we have a system that we couldn’t be happier with and no regrets about our decision to go with ACS. In fact, we’ve already recommended them to some friends and family.

ACS installed a brand new A/​C system and replaced an old furnace at my house. They were all wonderful to deal with and the guys who did the install did an amazing job. I am so happy. I highly recommend them. Thanks again guys!

ACS recently installed a wonderful solar energy system on our home in Danville and they did an excellent job. The solar panels are black and look very nice on the roof. The entire solar installation is clean and neat. We hired ACS because of their excellent reputation and because we have used them in our property management business for over 20+ years. I wish I could give them more stars!

This is my second review for this company. My furnace needed repair and we called ACS once again. The woman on the phone told me about their specials starting in Oct! Eric arrived on time and was very personable, professional and accommodating. He explained the trouble shooting process clearly, and found our problem in short order. After I diagnosed from the manual that I had a failed dual run cap they helped me get the Carrier part i needed (capacitor replacement) and were so helpful in showing me where to pick it up. I am a licensed electricslly certified technician at industrial electrical work… so you need to know what you are doing around 240 volts but a capacitor was my issue and easy to do. Pleaxe people dont shock yourself

They fixed my problem with the minimal cost. J Allen did excellent job, and he did not spend all the estimated hours. My impression to this company is that they are honest, and it is managed better than most. Missing appointment is a very common problem to many contractors. They are not perfect, but they are trust worthy.

ACS really impressed me today. I called to get an appointment as soon as possible. Originally since it is a very busy time of year and around the 4^th of July it would have been 5 days before the next available appointment. Although I had accepted this to be the case the same day they called me back and told me they would be able to come out the following day! They are definite life savers and extremely nice people. The technician Eric was probably the best I have ever had come out to the house. He was an extremely smart, kind, and honest person. His work was thorough and efficient. As this was my first time calling ACS I can’t speak for all of their employees but I can safely say that if you ask for Eric he is one of a kind.

ACS has been providing excellent service for us for years! We own a property management company and must always have vendors who can be reliable, have excellent service, quality workmanship and competitive pricing. This combination is hard to find, so we are lucky to have been referred to ACS by another local manager. We would recommend ACS to anyone seeking heating and a/​c services!

ACS were awesome! They installed our new Carrier Furnace recently. Justin came ON TIME to look at our house including our crawl space, spent 90 min discussing pros and cons of high efficiency furnaces, variable speed vs two-​speed etc. Proposal was on time (not the cheapest) but was professional and everything explained clearly. The installation crew of Joe and Jose were on time, professional and courteous. They cleaned the place thoroughly when they finished. When running a new sound loop to the existing return can in our hallway, the work they had to do turned out to be more complicated due to constraints in our attic space. But Justin/​Joe completed this work on their original budget. Work completed on time and inspector gave a PASS rating as soon as he saw ACS did our work. ACS is a class outfit! And, as an added bonus you get a $ 100 refund from the Sheet Meatlworkers’ Union!

ACS has top notch customer service. A very helpful lady named Nicki answers the phone, not just a machine. Phone calls and questions are handled efficiently and professionally.
Their technical manager gets high marks as well. He explained how my broken fan motor was still under warranty and provided an accurate time frame to do the repair.
They do conscientious work, taking care to look out for the customer. I’m very happy recommending their services.

Just had my Carrier heat pump fixed. George quickly found the problem… a crack in the bend of a ½″ copper line from the compressor that was allowing Freon to escape

He removed the cracked section and replaced it with an elbow… a superior repair action over trying to silver solder the crack closed. This is the second time I had ACS work on my heat pump in the past 5 or 6 years… the quality of their work hasn’t slipped a bit. The final repair cost was lower than I anticipated, so I’m pleased.

My experience with ACS was like a breath of fresh air (no pun intended)
After getting bids from several companies where representatives were not punctual and took days and days to submit unclear non-​itemized bis, I had given up on the Air Conditioning industry.
I was amazed when Ronnie showed up 3 minutes before he said he would, and after a careful inspection of my property and a lengthy, patient question-​answer session with me to assuage all of my concerns had a (very reasonable) bid ready for me within 2 hours.
His crew was able to come to my house 3 days after we accepted the bid, and they too showed up a minute or two before they said they would.
All the paperwork regarding permits and inspections was handled expertly and smoothly.
It doesn’t hurt to get a rebate from the Union, either!
I literally CANNOT say enough good things about this business.

ACS installed our new heating and AC system 14 years ago. We have them come out periodically to check on the equipment. The service is awesome, techs leave no mess. This is a great local company. The office personnel are friendly and knowledgeable. ALL of the technicians, over the past 14 years are basically the same guys. That says a lot for a company. We have been very happy with ACS! Give them a call, get an estimate.

We just had a new heater installed by ACS this past week, and we couldn’t be more pleased with their service. Ronnie, Joe, and George are all extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, and willing to take plenty of time to explain things and discuss all options. Also, there is certainly no lack when it comes to attention to detail; for example, we actually hadn’t noticed this but Joe saw a very slight glitch in terms of the display quality on the edge of the control panel, and, not satisfied with less than perfect, ensured that a replacement was provided within a day or 2. As for the heater itself, it’s working beautifully.

Great service and great people! Our heating went out during one of the coldest nights this year and I contacted ACS first thing in the morning. The very nice woman I spoke with on the phone was great and was able to schedule me between 10 – 2 and Eric arrived within that time and was GREAT. He knew what he was doing, performed tests and got the unit running in no time. He also showed me how to «read» the lights to figure out what the problem was, so if it happens again I can relay that to them to pinpoint the problem. We’re extremely happy and would definitely call ACS again if we every have problems in the future.

Couldn’t be more pleased with the heating service we got from ACS. Their technician Eric was able to come to our El Sobrante home the same morning we first called in to the friendly woman who set us up. He was extraordinarily personable, exceptionally helpful, generous with great advice, and gave every indication of being a true expert and ethical in his practices. We’ve had unhappy experiences with other such companies in the past, and are overjoyed with our first transaction with ACS.

ACS was very responsive in scheduling our request for an estimate for a new AC/​furnace installation and also updated the bid based on our change requests. This is in stark contrast to some of the other companies we contacted.
Pricing was competitive and our installation was completed professionally in 2 days and passed inspection.

I have had so many bad experiences that I am very suspect of anyone doing work in my home. I also had never used Unilocal for anything but restaurants, so I was surprised I found such a great company via Unilocal.
Justin is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, professional, reasonable and prompt. His company identified our issue (the igniter gas filler o-​ring was not present causing a blowback flame and melting the wires… bad previous repair with another company), he ordered the parts & installed them 1 day after they arrived, fixing our heater and keeping my family safe. All the while, maintaining a level of professionalism and customer service interaction that was second to none. Oh, and the best point, his billed repair invoice turned out to be lower than his original estimate, (mainly due to less labor time than originally suspected).
