Animal Neurology & MRI Center

I judge an animal care clinic often by the experience I have with the front desk. The front desk staff here severely lack the compassion that should be extended whenever you are bringing your beloved pet in for care. I am giving this opinion not just based on one visit, but on multiple visits. This clinic has a cold and uncaring environment and I would not recommend taking your pet here for care. In addition, their costs for ER and neurology services are quite high.

Recently took our dog here because he was having some paints that the vet couldn’t figure out. The doctor was great and was able to diagnose him as pulling his groin muscle. We were given 2 medications and they’ve been working wonderfully.
The only thing that was annoying was how long we had to wait after the doctor finished his checkup. He said he would go update the dogs chart and get our meds ready– we spent more time waiting then we spent in the entire exam portion itself.
My only minor complaint would be the front desk staff. We walked in about 6 minutes late and wow, we were definitely made aware of that fact. The receptionist was just noticeably rushing us and making calls on the speaker system to say we had arrived and then again when we had finished our paperwork. She was just clearly rushing us and I got a bad vibe. I know I shouldn’t complaint because we were 6 minutes late but jeez, have some compassion. You don’t know everybody’s story. I would definitely except front desk staff to be more warm and inviting, whether or not we’re late.

The care my dog has received has been amazing. At 13 she recently tore her second ACL. I elected to not have surgery this time. The staff is so caring and knowledgable! They have tried several things that have greatly improved my dog’s leg. The prices are very reasonable as well. I highly recommend.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff (wonderful) and Dr. Adam Moeser! My patterdale terrier, Brady had a terrible episode that seemed like a seizure or we didn’t know if he fractured his back but it was a pretty awful experience for my husband and I. For anyone that thinks they are surgery «happy», I’m here to say they ARE NOT. Dr. Moeser examined Brady and we agreed to keep a close eye on him for right now, but we would work together. He gave me his email if I needed anything. Not once did he pressure us in to a MRI or surgery. I give this facility, staff and doctor’s a TEN STAR rating!!!

My golden retriever was having a series of grand mal seizures so we rushed him to this facility. The staff was cold and uncaring despite the fact that we were all in tears when they told us the worst possible scenario for our dog. He stayed at this facility for 3 nights which totaled over $ 3500. When I when to pick him up on day 2 they stated that if I couldn’t get there before 4pm that they would automatically charge me for another night even if he didn’t actually stay so the receptionist recommended that he stay the night as we would be charged for it anyways. The following day I arrived early at 8 and didn’t even see my pet for over an hour. They charged my card for the full bill and I signed the bill. The lady came back in stating that they forgot to charge me for the medication that they wanted to send me home with and asked for my card again. I obliged and the medication totaled $ 50. I finally was allowed to leave and take my pet home. When I got home my dog was very weak and still exhausted which was expected. I didn’t take him for any walks or to the dog park as he was very weak and unstable. He spent the entire time at my house. I noticed that after two weeks he was itching repeatedly and when I took a closer look he was infested with fleas. I want to state that we have never had a flea outbreak at my house and my pets get regular flea treatments. When I called this facility and told them of the issues my household was going through the doctor seem concerned and said his manager would call me the next day. The manager called me in the late afternoon and apologized for the issues we were having but that my pets could not have possibly gotten fleas from her facility. I explained that my dog was too weak to go anywhere and that this was the last place he visited before the flea infestation. She apologized again and said there was no possible way that he got them from her hospital. I demanded free flea treatments to correct the error that her dirty facility caused all 4 of my pets (1dog 3 indoor cats), she refused but offered me a free tour of this facility to show me how «clean» they are. I immediately refused stating that there was no possible way I would voluntarily enter this disgracefully disgusting facility. The way this situation was handled by management and staff alike was extremely disappointing and dissatisfying. I wouldn’t take any of my animals back to this facility or refer anyone to come here for any reason. I called my regular vet and told them of the circumstances and they are now spreading the word to clients to avoid this facility. Take your pet elsewhere.

Great care with our cat. The staff is compassionate and our cat sensed it. He remained calm through the entire exam. The ER costs are very reasonable as well. The only downside was the wait, but I guess that is to be expected in an ER.

My issue is not so much with the Dr that we saw here, but the staff at the front desk. I have booked several appointments for physical therapy and two have been non-​existent on their end. One instance I made the appointment and called back the next day to schedule another two appointments (since they have limited appointments but don’t ever mention it when you’re a new patient). When I recited back to the girl all of the appointment dates she said I wasn’t on their books for the first one. And the second time this occurred, I traveled an hour to get there and they told me I didn’t have an appointment but I could leave my dog there and pick him up in a few hours. Sorry but he was stressed enough traveling all the way there… no way am I leaving him there. Who knows — I could have went back to get him and they probably would have said «Oh sorry we have no idea what you’re talking about. What dog?» I mean how is my dog supposed to get better with physical therapy if they keep removing him from the schedule?!
I would love to say that I made an appointment to go back in a week or two, but who knows if it would stay on their schedule or not? So if you’re thinking of coming here, make sure you get an appointment reminder print out, or if its over the phone, have them email one to you and then call back a day or two later to make sure they haven’t removed your appointment.
A note to the directer or office manager — perhaps your front desk should start making confirmation calls. That or hire people who know how to book appointments correctly

If you love your dog, Do not ever take your beloved animal to this place. I was sent here by my Vet because we thought my dog Winchester had a type of seizure. On my first visit the Vet we saw was kind and caring. He examined my dog and made some recommendations. We weren’t sure what was going on but an MRI or steroids were suggested. We followed up with our regular vet. As things progressed my dog was having problems walking and x-​rays seems to show that there was a problem with his cruciate ligament. My dog was getting worst. We traveled to Toronto because we heard of a women who specializes in making braces to help dogs walk. We found out after seeing this therapist that this wasn’t going to help my dog. he was getting weaker and much worst. We went back to the Animal Neurology and MRI Center after seeing the therapist in Toronto. This time we saw Dr. Wolf who is the owner. He had a very poor bedside manor, as he was evaluating my dog walking, apparently my dog wasn’t walking fast enough for Dr. Wolf, and Dr. Wolf literally pushed my dog so hard he fell to the floor on his side. This was a dog who could barely even stand let alone walk. I was horrified. I swear I wanted to rip this man’s eyes out, but being in shock I contained myself. We found out later that evening from our regular Vet, that Winchester had hemangiosarcoma, He died one week later. We did take Winchester to Michigan State University to see if there was anything at all that could be done. I was to distraught to do anything at the time, but a few weeks later I contacted the Animal Neurology & MRI Center to complain. At that time I did not know that Dr. Wolf was the owner. When I complained I spoke to a very rude woman who accused me of making this story up and that Dr. Wolf was a compassionate and animal loving man. When what can I expect when the man I am complaining about is the owner. I don’t want anyone else to experience such cold and unprofessional behavior from a so called compassionate man. I told my regular Vet about what had happened and he told me that he has heard other stories about this man and his cold nature. Do yourself a favor and Go to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services, or Michigan State University, where they care about the life of your beloved animal.

My doberman Jackson was thought to have wobblers syndrome from my normal vet, we took him the Neurology center and given the news that yes it is true. We were given many options to help him along including surgery, medication, etc. We took him back a couple times for check ups and medication. They were very friendly and understanding to what we were going through. The prices we very reasonable for the services that they offer.

Sadly, pets suffer from many neurological diseases or injuries just like people. Not only is this place open ²⁴⁄₇ for all emergencies but they also specialize in neurology and have one of the few pet MRI’s available in the area. The staff are absolutely the best in all aspects. They never talk down to you but instead explain what happened and what to expect for the outcome in easy to understand lingo. The office itself is beautiful and comforting. No white walls and stainless steel everywhere like a normal vet. There is also a separate extended waiting room for those families that choose to hang out during their pet’s surgery or diagnoses. Another advantage of them being open ²⁴⁄₇ is that when your pet is released, you can call anytime with questions or concerns. I had a very good experience here and recommend it to anyone with a dog or cat. As always, emergency care is very expensive so I also recommend pet health insurance… it is a BIG life saver (quite literally). Check out their website for more info!
