Specialties
We provide full day and part day programs for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years. Using the HighScope approach to early learning, our teachers provide children with active learning opportunities each day.
OPENair Academy is committed to providing educational programs that support growth of the whole child across all four developmental domains: social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language.
We participate in the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) for ages 3 through 12.
History
Established in 2007.
OPENair opened its doors to the Commerce City community in January 2007. Our programs have grown to include infants, toddlers, early preschool, preschool, pre-kindergarten and school-age programs. We are proud members of the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Chidlren, Early Childhood Education Association of Colorado and the Early Childhood Partnerships of Adams County.

Hello, my name is Donna Weatherwax and I am the Academy Director here at OPENair Academy.
My family and I moved to Colorado over 25 years ago, relocating from Anchorage, Alaska. I have over 30 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education as a teacher, trainer and school director.
My passion is working with children and families, and with the teachers who instill a love of learning for them. I believe that children are active learners, and thrive in an environment that provides them with opportunities to develop a love of learning through hands-on experiences and play.
