Ace Rent a Car

This car rental service is awful. They are in a dumpy location. The shuttle takes forever. Your bags have to go through the mud, no sidewalk, and the employees are awful!

This place is an absolute joke. Of all the car rentals I’ve ever had, this is, by far, the worst.
First, it took almost an hour for the shuttle to arrive. When it did, they took us to a muddy, dirt lot with a trailer as an office. I rented a mid-​size SUV and was given a full size — I didn’t want a full size due to gas. The SUV was dirty, hadn’t been cleaned and they won’t give you a discounted rate.
I didn’t make it out of Denver before the Low Tire Pressure light came on. I had to pull over at a Pilot, in the pouring rain, cold, and pump up the tires — 2 of which were under 20 pounds PSI! As a side note to that, one tire had a slow leak and I had to put air in it every day.
The windshield wipers were shot and I could barely see to drive.
Upon return, we waited an hour for the shuttle to take us back to the airport — finally, they had to get an employee to drive us there in a van.
This place is horrible. PLEASE, do yourself a favor — pay the extra money and rent from Hertz or a more reputable car rental place. It’s just not worth the hassle and the horrible service and car you get. I wish I had of read the reviews first.

Wish I would have read the reviews sooner. If you are renting a vehicle in the Denver area, anything would be better than ACE. Slow shuttle, drivers who complain, filthy cars, muddy disaster of a facility. I rarely say anything on Unilocal but this company will inspire you to warn others.

WOW! What a terrible company! I would not rent from them if my life depended on it! I was trying to simply get a quote about rental prices and every time frame I put in, for a literal 4 month time period from April 2016-​August 2016, said they were booked on everything. I called the national 800 number to see if this happened to be a fluke, and if they were actually fully booked and was told «ya, that’s what happens when you wait to reserve» despite me trying to reserve a van for LATE AUGUST in March, red flag #1 don’t be blaming me for being 5 months ahead of what I’m doing. I was just calling to see if there was a glitch in their system and was told by not one, but two separate employees, that «our system never has glitches. You need to plan better.» When I asked to speak with their supervisor I heard one «representative» ask why I wanted to speak with her manager, and when I said it was because of this terrible customer service, I heard her say while she thought I was already on hold, «Oh my god, this dumb bitch.» I never have rented from this company and NEVER WILL! Scumbags who treat their «customers» like second class citizens. They couldn’t even tell me a typical rate. Judging by the other reviews and them almost blatantly refusing to help a potential customer, I’m glad I didn’t waste my hard earned money on this junk company. What a mess. 0 stars if that were at all possible. There are much better, locally owned companies, in the area that treat you like *shocker* you’re actually a paying customer.

What a rip off, during my rental I kept track of my tolls, one was $ 2 one was $ 2.90 — upon return I gave them a $ 5 bill and was refused, they said a third party would send me a bill. They did send a bill for $ 4.90 plus a $ 35 dollar administration charge. I called them and was upset, they said they would credit me the $ 35. A month later they charged my credit card again $ 39 and I found it and refused it and here we are 3 months later and they just charged my credit card again another $ 39. This is fraud and I am reporting this to my credit card company.

Experience I’ve ever had. After waiting 45 minutes for a shuttle we took a $ 30 cab ride and couldn’t find their location. After calling their number 9 times I finally got someone on the line and he was extremely rude and obviously did not care one bit. Please, save yourself the headache and rent from a real company.

I have used many different car rental companies, and this has to be the worst one yet. They don’t even deserve the one star.
First of all, This company is based in CA and operates out of two trailers in a muddy (unfinished/​unpaved) field next to the remote airport parking. There is no airport counter. The shuttle to Ace is at a stop labeled Hotel (first bad sign). Google the address and use the satellite view, you will see what I mean — just don’t mistake the large remote parking area as their fleet.
We were 10 min behind our 2hr window because of an airline schedule change and the shuttle took almost an hour (the drive refuse to drop us off, and choose to make multiple hotel stops first). The rep looked me in my eyes, knowing well that I have little kids and my elderly mother with me, and said «sorry, your reservation has been cancelled. we have 11 reservations and only 5 cars. we don’t have a car for you». It was getting dark, and we still had another 3 hr drive to Steamboat. I became quite upset at that point and demanded to speak to the manager. The manager, thankfully, overruled and allowed the transaction to happen.
The same rep took forever to complete the rental agreement. Mentioned the optional insurance three times (usually a reputable company would offer it once and have you sign the waiver). And we were force to pay extra $ 9/​day for a second driver because I wanted to use my american express (which carries the full rental insurance coverage) and have my husband as the driver. I have never encountered this policy before, so be aware. The rep even made a very distasteful joke about us needing the two drivers because my husband might «break his ankle skiing».
Despite knowing we were going to drive in the dark and heavy snow to Steamboat. He gave us a Dodge Caravan that had no windshield wiper fluid and very little front tire tread left. I wish we were more vigilant and checked everything before we left, but we were pressed for time and everyone was freezing in the cold (there is no waiting room, and the whole rental process took close to 1.5hours). We skid and slid numerous times on our way to Steamboat and ended up stuck on a gentle uphill slope in Steamboat and had to turn back to get around it. We hardly drove the car and abandoned some of our plans for the week in fear of getting stuck again. Thank goodness our resort provided shuttle service. We decided to leave Steamboat one day early to make sure we will make it back on time for our flight.
So all in all, we ended buying windshield wiper fluid ourself, gave up a day of resort stay in Steamboat, had to pay for an extra night in Denver, and gave up several todos while in Steamboat in fear of tire problems. This Van/​Rental company pretty much ruined our vacation. I mentioned the problems when I returned the van, and the same rep gave no apology and only mentioned that he would make a service request before he carefully checked for damage.
During a conversation with another customer (on our way returning to the airport), I realized an even bigger problem with this company. CO implemented new snow tire/​chain law this year which would make it illegal to drive on the highway under certain conditions without snow tire/​chains. They had to buy chains themselves because they were told by Ace rental that they don’t provide them. Needless to say, they will never rent from Ace again. So, I guess I should feel fortunate that we were not in the situation where we had to have chains.
Save yourself some headache and pay extra to rent from somewhere else. WE WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN.

DO NOT RENT WITH ACE. On Wednesday, 6 Jan 2016, I waited curbside for their pickup shuttle at 745pm, but it did not come. I called 2 times before their 8pm office closure and no one answered the phone, or was there a voicemail to leave a message. After contacting the manager, he nor any of his staff wanted to pick me up or honor the reservation. They happily left me at the airport without a car. I will never rent from Ace again, and I suggest you avoid them like the plague.

I was very impressed with the service. I only deduct a star because the hours are 8am-​8pm, however as they are so much cheaper than the other options I found for a minivan, it was worth it. If you need to return your car outside those hours, they give you instructions to do so at the nearby lot and to let them know, then you have to pay $ 25 for their daily parking and take that lot’s shuttle to the airport. Could be worth it depending on your deal.
Their place is out of a portable building a little further away from the other rental car places, but not much farther. They have a free shuttle. The immediate surrounding ground is not paved so this isn’t for the high maintenance types in stilettos and Louis Vuitton suitcases.
They were very genuinely kind and friendly. I ended up returning my minivan a couple days early and actually got some money back because of it, which I don’t think any other rental car companies do. And I was anxious because my flight was leaving in an hour so after ten minutes one of the workers personally gave me a ride because the shuttle hadn’t arrived while I was there yet. As we were getting in his car we could see the shuttle arriving, but he gave me a ride anyway.

I knew this rental office was not located at the airport, but went with it because it provided the least expensive rental car. While I did appreciate the cost, the service at check-​in was unpleasant. Tired from a flight West and no dinner, I wasn’t in the mood to be hassled about purchasing insurance for the vehicle. Even after explaining the maximum amount I could charge for the business trip rental was the price I was given upon reservation, the guy behind the counter almost refused to rent me the vehicle without purchased coverage. Even after giving up that fight, he tried to get me to pay extra for gas added. Another frustration was the need to drive a huge minivan seating 6 when I was the only one using the vehicle, and was in the city trying to park it. A fleet of smaller vehicles would be appreciated.
Otherwise, my reception at check-​out went smoothly, and the shuttles to and from the airport were prompt [you need to go to the ‘hotel’ sign for ground transportation, and take the shuttle that says Western (one of the hotels near the rental office)]. Perhaps I got unlucky with the desk agent I got. I will give them a second star for the low prices and the late office hours (open until 8pm, which helps for those traveling from the East coast).

This was, without doubt, the worst car rental experience i’ve ever gone through.
Be aware it’s not with the other rental companies, but at an office building a few miles away, but also It seemed as if no one had any clue how to run a business, and they didn’t care.
How can you run an airport-​based car rental and make your customers wait 45 minutes,… yet still no shuttle van to the terminal so you have a chance to catch your plane? Yes, 45 minutes and despite assurances all along that «it’ll be here in a few minutes», and «he’s on his way» it never came.
Fortunately I had an Über app on my phone. It was that or miss my flight and have to pay for a hotel room.
The pick-​up process was not much better. Families sitting around waiting an excessively long time.
Folks, pay the extra money up front rather than start your trip with chaos and possibly end it with a missed flight: use a legitimate car rental company, not this Mickey Mouse affair.

Stay away. Transport from the airport runs only every 30 minutes. Business hours are 8 am to 8 pm so hope your flights are inside that footprint and you don’t need a ride to or from the airport outside of that time.
You get what you pay for and there is no reason to ever try to save 10 bucks on a rental by choosing this place. I made the mistake, learn from my mistake and choose a real rental car place that has 24 hour transportation, with frequent pickup. I you will thank me later, I promise.

I chose Ace Rental while I was visiting Colorado since it was very cheap compared to other rental companies and I thought I would give a shot. I got a full size SUV for $ 17/​per day compared to $ 45-​$ 75 by other rental companies.
As soon as I exited the airport, the shuttle service was there and I was very happy. The rental location is around 15 mins drive from airport. (Other rental companies are located at 8 – 10 mins drive) After reaching the location, the driver pointed out the exact location of the company. Its located in a commercial building and entrance of the building is facing to the parking. After you enter, take the first right door.
The people are nice and didn’t argue/​changed their face when I declined any coverage on the vehicle. I got a free upgrade to Chevy Tahoe, 2013 model which had 43k miles on it and was an okay condition.
Return was simple. Dropped the vehicle and waited inside their office for the shuttle which came after 10mins.
Note — this location closes at 8:00PM and make sure you plan to drop your vehicle accordingly. Also make sure you inspect the vehicle properly before you sign anything because they will also do the same when you drop it back.

You get what you pay for. Experienced major delay upon arrival with terrible customer service. It’s not convenient because they aren’t actually at the airport. They are located in the international business center that is hard to find. Recommend it if you want to start and end your trip on a bad note.
On the bright side, we made our flight because we begged the bus driver to leave early. When checking out, we actually had a very helpful man who had just started who is the reason we made our flight. We really appreciate his help.
