History

Established in 2009.

ZC started out in August of 2009 in a small studio space on Indianola Avenue in Clintonville, Ohio. We had two classes one on Thursday and one on Saturday. Demand increased and we added two other classes in the Grandivew area. Change continued and we moved to larger space in the Arlington and NW Columbus areas. In February of 2011 we added classes in New Albany. Today ZC has 6 instructors plus several subs, classes every day of the week, morning and evening.

Today we are in our one great space at Dance Sport on Kenny Road in the Kenny Center Mall. The ZC team is 18 strong with 22 classes a week.

Business Owner

Jennifer Rubenkoenig is the owner of ZC since its inception in 2009. She has been licensed to teach ZUMBA since September of 2008. Jennifer also is CPR/AED certified and holds a Group Fitness Certification from AFAA, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.

I have been really spoiled in that I had a FANTASTIC instructor in the Boston area when I first started getting into Zumba. Despite the fact that I have no dance experience, she played awesome music, was really high energy, and made the class feel like we were actually in a music video. I have really struggled to find another class that quite meets that standard but being new to Columbus, decided to give ZumbaColumbus a try.
From my very first class, I knew this was where I would be doing my Zumba’ing. The instructors are fantastic (particularly Jenn, the owner, and Amy), the dances are so much fun without being too difficult, and there is truly a community that has been built by the participants. The facebook page is really active and will give you a better sense of ZumbaColumbus. I highly recommend trying a class (your first one is free!).

I’ve recently learned that Zumba is a LOT of fun. I like this location because it’s fairly easy to get to; it’s located in Upper Arlington at the Kenny Centre plaza, and the sign outside actually says Youth Dance Academy or some such. The studio is fairly big and can accommodate the crowds for busier classes.
I really appreciated the small feel and community to this place. Zumba Jenn is super welcoming and friendly, and Zumba Columbus also offers a free wellness workshop that meets every other week on Saturday mornings before the 9:30 Zumba class. An added bonus? Your first class is free, and you get a discount on passes if you book within 7 days of your first class. I picked up a 5-class pass and have been going with friends on the weekends for a change of pace. Highly recommended!
