Wow, very pleasant stop. I had a wonderfully done crawfish poboy with fresh bread, still hot from the fryer crawfish, a nice portion of pickles and the freshest green lettuce I’ve seen in a while. Service was average, but food was great. Their house brand vinegar sauce was great as well.

Disappointing and would expect better for a BBQ joint in MS. Bad first impression when we walk in to the restaurant and see 2 dead roaches on the floor. The BBQ came out lukewarm and the sides were not good.

I had the pulled pork plate with beans and potato salad. Potato salad was made with mustard as it should be and was very good. Beans were good but they were served very hot which made them even better. The pulled pork was very moist and very good. I tried three different sauces. The vinegar sauce was in my opinion disgusting. The hot BBQ sauce was very hot, but it only tasted like it was supposed to be hot. It didn’t taste like anything but spicy to me. The mild BBQ sauce was very good. Service was exceptional. The only mistake was I was given sweet tea instead of unsweet but the sweet was good so I drank it anyway. I highly recommend. Oh one more thing. The little building they have is adorable. It made me feel like I had reached a destination from the exterior.

If you want a quick taste of the south and a little Cajun flare, Little Dooeys is the place for you. With mostly fried seafood options on the menu, you can try out a variety of southern staples. Fried oysters, fish, crawfish, green tomatoes… get them as a platter, a wrap, or a salad even. The do have hamburgers as well, if you’re more of a land person!

I would not recommend this restaurant at all! It was horrible! I ordered a BBQ Pork sandwich and it was cold. The waffle fries were good and hot. Save your money and go somewhere else. Restaurant is dirty and old, tablecloths all torn up. I wish I had not stopped there! After 2 bites of my sandwich I was done!

Barf. I don’t even want to give it one star. I’m not sure what all the hoopla is about this place. Several timeI have eaten here the food has been cold and just terrible. I’d rather spend my money somewhere else.

They do have a good vinegar sauce. When I am on a diet I go here to get a smoked chicken salad with no dressing and I put the vinegar sauce on it. I keep several bottles of the vinegar sauce on hand at home. The fried catfish is sometimes decent, but inconsistent. When the tail is curling up on your catfish fillet, it has been overcooked and is probably too thin a cut. BBQ is my favorite food. This is not good bbq. The pulled pork is dry. The ribs are mediocre, never very meaty. The ribs at Hank’s are much better. The pulled pork is better from local roadside stands. I hear that the Starkville location is better. I will give it a try soon.

I grew up in Columbus, MS and when I joined the Army and departed good ol Columbus, I compared all pulled pork sandwiches to The Little Dooey. With that being said, the Little Dooey on 45 is just not the same anymore. Service– non existent, standoffish and a bit rude. The last time I was there December 2013, the cashier was a total nightmare. The interior of the place is the same as it always has been. Its about time to update it(interior) or continue to accept the nasty cloth covered seating. It seems as if no one cares about this location anymore. The original Dooey in Starkville is great. Only went to the other Columbus location once and still to this day cant figure out why the owners opened that location. Should have used the money to fix up the original Columbus location. Dumb move in my opinion.

The food was ok, the service non-existent. Kind of a divey ambience, not super clean. The fried pickle appetizer was good. We had catfish and shrimp. The catfish was a little over cooked but the shrimp was perfect. The potato salad was nice and creamy. The corn on the cob was terrible, greasy & spongy. I don’t even know how you’d do that to corn. We would eat here again but wouldn’t necessarily recommend it.

The pulled pork sandwiches are excellent. The sides are good as well. The place could use a makover. No long servers beer. Better for take out than to dine.

Truly expected better after all of the recommendations I received. BBQ was merely acceptable and fried pickles were WAY overdone.

Great BBQ joint. I had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top. I smothered it in hot sauce and then added fried onion straws(sort of like onion rings). I’m sure it took a couple years off of my life, but it tasted awesome, spicy, sweet, greasy, good. Yum!

Finally found a good BBQ joint on my travels with my carniverous colleagues. I splurged on the pulled pork combo plate with fried pickles and roasted corn. It was all good. The pork was like butter and the fried pickles had a nice crunchy batter coating.

This was actually really good. Obviously, I’ve had better BBQ, but it was a great recommendation, so I’ll pass it along. I’ve heard the Starkville location is better, but I try to avoid Starkvegas at all costs!

Little Dooey has consistently good BBQ pork and chicken. Best fried pickles I’ve ever had. I typically get catfish fillets as they are some of the better ones in town. The hot BBQ sauce is great. I just pour it on everything. Other good sides include waffle fries, fried eggplant and corn salad. Brisket here is fair– but do you really expect anything more outside of Texas?
